Being an oldie I knew about the reference to the Boer war having read many books about those times. Clapton Orient had a large side terrace Kop at Millfields (now long gone) and Charlton Athletic also had a side terrace one.

There was a remote house on the Kintyre Peninsula called Sion Kop. It was so odd that I actually researched it as a teenager in the 1970s. Great video.

Yes there’s quite a few places named after the battle, during researching this I found parks, schools and even a village near Mansfield called Spion Kop.

I remember going on the Kop at Deepdale as a kid and my dad telling me and my brother about how it gained its name from the Battle of Spion Kop.

Liverpool built there stand and couldn't think of a name for the stand. So to remember the men that died in the Spion Kop in South Africa. Which was mainly from Liverpool.

Lol I instantly got it all from when you showed a picture of what I guessed was Africa, though I thought it was more of a tribute than just a reference.
I used to wonder why our KOP was called that when I was younger thinking we'd just copied Liverpool, also wondered why ours ran along the pitch instead of where the Tilton is for example.
