it's a pity so many of these vertical shooters were ported directly from the Atari ST and were running at only 25fps - or less. 50fps is pretty much the standard frame rate for shooters - as demonstrated in Hybris, Battle Squadron and Banshee - games that were designed exclusively for the Amiga. Note: the job done on Flying Shark is so egregious that some one has taken the trouble to fix it - rewriting the code to take advantage of the Amiga's hardware. The improvement is stunning - it's like Night and Day - and demonstrates exactly how badly served Amiga owners were by so many direct ports from the ST (I mean no disrespect to the Atari ST - but the Amiga is just a different machine). Thank you for bringing us back to the rediscovery of these games that accompanied our adolescence. I remember that in those years, there were many attempts to simulate a football match, and when it came close to a significant event, such as a World Cup; a European championship, or even the start of the Serie A championship, these attempts multiplied. However, despite the efforts of the many programmers who attempted to reproduce the game of football as faithfully as possible, almost none of them succeeded in the task. Today we remember the famous...Kick Off...Sensibile Soccer...Goal! Etc... They were all the rage at the time, but even back then you could never get a game that really made you feel like you were on a football pitch. Even today it is a very difficult undertaking, therefore it was even more difficult at the time. You really had to be satisfied, or you would get a quick game, but to the detriment of realism, this was the case of football games in which you managed to score with just one player, starting like a missile from midfield, and going on to score almost undisturbed, with goalkeeper who completed the job by always diving awkwardly. Or there were games where ball control was something only an extraterrestrial could do, but in all games of the Amiga era, the common flaw was that the other members of your team seemed completely unfamiliar with your maneuver . I could mention quite a few "oddities" for every game that came out at the time... but that would be too boring...

Thanks for uploading. Kick Off 2 was my favourite. Great playability and I remember competing with my mate to see who could commit more fouls and get more red cards.

Lollypop is "AGA only"? Hmmm, it's listed on several Amiga sites as an OCS/ECS game - and looks it. User reviews all mention that they played it on OCS. One of the main complaints is that there ISN'T an AGA version. The plot thickens...

I was playing a amazing game on Amiga 500 - You were a sorcery, going through old castle, taking potions, and You can have fiend dog/wolf (I think that it was 2-nd player), and You can have buch of bats - that was helping You to kill enemies... Has anybody remember name of this game ?

I played Flimbos on both Amiga and C64. What is strange, I actually like C65 version much more.

The ones that I vividly remember playing are: Titus The Fox Brian The Lion Zool series Arabian Nights Second Samurai And, not sure if this counts, but Sleepwalker was one of my all time faves!

Lollypop AGA? I thought it was ECS. Maybe simply because of extra Memory? It does not use the AGA chipset as far as I know.

I have played all of these games on my Amiga 500... except SON OF CHUCK, LOLLYPOP and DELIVERANCE: STORMLORD II. They were definitely the great games. RISKY WOODS was definitely the most frustrating game, i have ever played. THE FIRST SAMURAI is one of the Commodore 64 and Amiga games, that gave meow the inspirations for practicing to draw my own art works 🖋️🖊️✏️🖍️ - Stan Sakai's USAGI YOJIMBO style 😺👍. Once again, your video deserves a big retrospective like 👍🕹️ from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮.

The soundtrack of this game alone was mindblowing good. I still find it remarkable that the same developers are the ones who later developed the Battlefield franchise and still distribute it today.

I still have my boxed copy of Leander, I adored that game back in the day. Shadow of The Beast, Rodland and Rainbow Islands are also games I still have a lot of love for and regularly play on my various emulators.

Some brilliant memories with these three mate. I was (still am) suprised at how much I enjoy Pinball Dreams - the whole idea of playing Pinball on my computer doesn't compute but it's such a well done game with brilliant graphics and music it just ended up being great fun. Lemmings is an outright classic, and that version on the Amiga was peak for me. Lotus is a good racer, though I have more nostalgia for the sequel which had excellent music too.

Okay, i am looking for an obscure amiga platformer. It was ugly. You character was a rabbit with a gun... All i remember, is that the floppy disc had: Killer Bunny written on it, but it was not the title i think. :) Possibly a product of poland or something. :'D

I saw Hybris on the list so, you have my attention. That game ROCKS, worth playing literally just for the music alone! [Update after watching] STORM SWIV YES!!! Bro thats one of the games i distinctly remember but couldn't find what it was. Very happy with the video, i remembered storm swiv being an absolutely killer game but that it also had some sort of link to Silk Worm but when looking up Silk Worm that clearly was not the game i recalled. Thanks for helping me out with that one! You have good taste buddy, 2 of your top 3 are in my own top 3 best scrolling shooters ever, so i gotta try the other one im unfamiliar with, plus it looked reeeeally good. Bubble Bobble, Rod Land and especially Rainbow Islands are always fun games no matter the platform

System 3 definitely has a better reputation on C64 than Amiga..

The thumbnail/title-card now makes me wish there's an Amiga version of Super Smash Bros full of iconic Amiga characters. Guybrush vs Turrican vs Superfrog vs Bodyblows folks vs Lemming(s) vs Bub/Bob vs Beast (from Shadow of The Beast) vs Conrad (from Flashback).... etc. etc. :D

That’s brilliant like you said so many more, but great to see one of my favourites Leander, loved that game, unfortunately my copy crashed at a point in the game and never finished it, that’s what I get for a copied game 😂Now got it on my A500 mini, it’s still just as good! Rodlands one I never played , git it for my A500 mini but just can’t get it working.. yet😁. Again awesome vid and cheers for the trip back in time.

There are so many great platformer games for the Amiga 😺👍🕹️. In fact, these are my favorite games: - LEANDER - SHADOW OF THE BEAST I-III - BUBBLE BOBBLE - THE GREAT GIANA SISTERS SHADOW OF THE BEAST, LEANDER and THE GREAT GIANA SISTERS are three of the games, that would definitely give meow some inspirations for drawing my own art works 🖋️🖊️✏️🖍️ 😺👍.
