Color-Changing Hunting Light - Cyansky H3 [Review]
This is the first video I watch from you and the videography is fire! You are the Teddy Baldassarre of flashlights!
Are you in Utah? That trail and city look very familiar..
This was super informative, thank you. Do you know if this would take an energizer lithium?
Yes, it will
Great filming btw
Is one driver 'harder' on the cells than the other?
Asuming current draw between the two is the same then no. However, drivers with a FET will pull as much from the battery as possible which will affect lifespan in the long term.
Awesome! I gave this hobby up a couple years ago when I realized how ignorant I was, and will forever be about lithium ion cells. I got so scared about them and my flashlights I literally just gave everything away for free. In doing so I lost a lot more than just a single hobby... I quickly realized I couldnt live without the utility of illumination I'd come to rely like a 6th sense. So I bought my first AA light. (I had never cared about them when I had Lithium-Ion super powers lol) A Convoy T3 with a Nichia 219b that has been my only light for the past couple years. Pretty excited that now I can finally get a cool flashlight again. And an Emisar at that! They always scares me the most lol
What scared you about the lithium ion?
@@bronzeback29 I dont even know where to begin. I actually forget most of what I once knew having given up and abandoning the flashlight hobby for the past couple years. I just felt like I was playing with pipe bombs and running a huge risk of burning down my apartment ignorantly charging random cells and putting them in random lights. I tried and treid to understand electricity enough to feel comfortable but was never able to understand any of it one bit. I just want fun toys and super powers. But great fun toy and great fun super powers come with great responsibilities. Responsibilities I just couldnt meet.
@crc9564 Hmm, I've never heard of anyone having problems except those that would use unprotected batteries incorrectly. I have the D4K and it's fantastic, I think you will really like the D3aa, I'm also going to get one :)
@@bronzeback29 All my cells were unprotected except for two Olights. I had around 15-20 different lights and random unprotected cells. When I was a member of The Budget Light Forum trying to eductae myself, it seemed I was gettin a 50/50 mix of "You're fine, have fun and enjoy your lights." As well as more detailed explantions of how things really work and why I need to be careful and really understand what im doing or else danger/fire/explosion or the less excitin, flashlight or cell gets fried/broken. Which I just cant afford. All of which was just over my head. I really miss my super powers, and late night exploring. It really was a multitude of hobbies in one. My Convoy L21B with SFT40 was so cool! haha...
I ordered my first one after owning plights for car work but hate that I can’t use my flat tops on the newer lights
make sure you write in them sponsoring you in the description too :)
It is there
really appreciate the 21:9 ratio on what is already a cool video in the LuxWad cinematic review style
Great review as always. Did you get to measure standby current?
I didn't, I'm not really able to with these dual-tube designs
@@LuxWad Oh right, forgot about that. Now I remember trying to measure the TS10 currents, hooked up to a bench power supply. Such PITA I gave up.
Wow I never even knew about the Olight battery universal battery charger. I want this now. And I like the thought of matching the batts with flashlight to charger so you can swap as needed. Thanks for sharing.
Anybody bought the clip and tried attaching it to an anduril light? I'd love something like this if it fit my D4K hanklight
The clip was designed very specifically for this light, I don't imagine it would fit around any other flashlights on the market.
I want to buy this light, but i can't find CREE XP-L option anywhere.
XP-L might not be available anymore, I recommend sending an email to Emisar if you still want them. Most people get dedomed Nichia 519a instead now.
I'm not really a big fan of 14500 lights. I need at least 18650. Most of my lights are 21700.
That pro clip is perfect for me in the trades.
Do you know if the rgb switch is always in sync with the aux lights? It would be nice to be able to configure them separately but my assumption is they are on the same channel.
Yes, they mirror the main aux.
@@LuxWad thanks!
Oh neat, this exists now. Last I heard (10 months ago), Loop asked me to help get Anduril working on it, so we started going over how to make that happen, and I haven't heard from him since. I gave him technical details on how to make the side lights work, and how to use sense resistors in the driver, and some other things, but after I brought up the GPL licensing and firmware flashing pads, he never replied. I wonder what happened.
Ugh that's a shame, the whole time I was wishing it just ran Anduril.
@@LuxWad I don't really understand Loop. He randomly sent me a $400 light for no reason, and it had big enough flaws I can't recommend it for actual lighting purposes... only as an expensive fidget toy. Then he asked for help getting Anduril on his next light, and things seemed to be going well, but then he just never wrote back. I like the side lights though. I wonder if I could get Hank to add side lights on something with a more practical design.
@@LuxWad Have you checked out the SK05 pro? Looks interesting. Or the Wuben x2 pro? Both still in kickstarter but are out for review. $49 and $39
@@ToyKeeperon the plus side, I like that loop is offering the innovative and cool clip a la carte (although it looks like the zinc version is already sold out, so only aluminum or more exotic materials are available). I'd buy a hank light with those awesome side emitters in a heartbeat!
@@BariumCobaltNitrog3n Loop Gear is going to send me the SK05. I haven't seen the X2 Pro, looks like something I'd like to review on the Lumencraft channel
beam looks green as heck.
Obviously not the 519a!! Probably the Philips 6500k.
Nice review of this light. The bracket is the biggest pain point for me, it's so cool when you need it and fun to fidget with, but you cannot use the pocket clip at the same time so I am in the habit of locking it before I stick it in my pocket or a backpack. The light itself is great between the side lights and the feel of it.
Neat
Did you shoot this in Anamorphic? Or is it just cropped? Great video regardless, i have the non pro aluminum version and its great but the side lights have gotten really buggy and dont work correctly anymore, its a shame i liked the light for the most part
It's just cropped, I also added some radial blur and chromatic abberation to mimic an anamorphic lens, then added some film grain and subtle scan lines just for the heck of it. It's concerning to hear that the side lights don't work properly for you anymore :( I like the design but without those side emitters I probably wouldn't use it at all
Dang, those E-trits (that can double as a lantern) are genuinely innovative. I think I share the same views as you on the product as a whole, but I'd like to see that sort of feature appear on more flashlights in the future (assuming it is implemented well). I could see it working as a second channel or as aux emitters in a future Anduril light.
wow, that aspect ratio is even _wider_ than my wide screen! very epic
I had to put another monitor beside my computer just to watch this video!
It looks good. And I like the side lights. Possibly the best implementation of dual use I've seen. Buuuut. That driver is awful. With the good boost lights available, this is a non starter unfortunately. This poor driver performance is a common issue with dual fuel lights as well.(D3AAnot included). Would've been much better to be made for one or the other. Me personally, I see no advantage to have 1.5 V chemistry support. And that optic doesn't look like it focuses the light very well.
Yeah from the technical side it's definitely lacking, which disappointing to me coming off of tests for the D3AA and M150V3.
Babe, wake up LuxWad dropped
I'm always glad to see companies trying out new things
I have to give Loop Gear major props for being creative with their offerings
Those side lights are cool, my Emisar auxiliaries really bug people with OCD, they tell me to turn my flashlight off and that I left it on lol
"your flashlight is on" that's not on, this is: _2H at the ceiling_
Haha I get that all the time too, it never fails to confuse people 😂
Yeah, like during an overnight flight, there's always _someone_ who stops me to tell me I left my flashlight on. They don't know that "on" is its "off" mode and has a runtime-per-charge measured in _years._
The aspect ratio of this video does not support end screen elements apparently, so here is the link to the 14500 light playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLHU0ASYVVQ25L0qjWXPb03cFNyHsdWpwY.html
I just got my d4v2 from jlhawaii I'm still waiting for my two d4sv2's from hank the d4v2 is 3 press and hold for special modes strobe ect so 3 press and hold is different on 2 channel lights ?
ua-cam.com/video/lNp7LRimoVY/v-deo.html
You frequently mention that you would not recommend this light to a casual buyer while simultaneously waxing lyrical about its features. You don't ever mention exactly why it's not recommended... Please let us know, why?
Because those features are too much for the average flasight user
@@LuxWad thanks for the reply. Do you mean the features are not worth the additional cost? As in, buy a convoy or some generic flashlight that's cheaper.
@@sih8283 They're definitely worth the cost, but I wouldn't recommend such a complicated light to a normal user.
Have you made the andruil 2 ui vid yet I searched and didn't see one
These reviews are starting to wear on me! So much of a word salad in each one! This than that then no then yes then no again then maybe but no then yes probably not maybe nevermind 😕😔
Yeah that's part of why the new videos are so much shorter, I think it's better now to present the data and give a quick opinion, then leace the rest up to the viewer.
Thank you for getting me into the hobby! I’ve always liked flashlights but never seriously got into the hobby. Out of the blue UA-cam recommended me this video and you’ve got me hooked! Just received the D3AA in titanium and freaking love it. I cannot thank you enough, it is so awesome! (except for my bank account)
whereis the button aux mirror option?
It's the RGB button light option.
Excellent Review 👍
Could you upload a video for all the novice and newbie, flashlight enthusiasts on owning a Hank light or any other lights that uses unprotected cells. all the different types of batteries, your recommendations on chargers and how to use them. I saw one post where the battery is 4.2 but you can’t charge it over 3.7 I and many other people. I’m assuming don’t know how to do that on a battery charger? i’ve seen don’t overcharge. Don’t run the battery completely dry cause it might explode. Seems like a lot to learn about owning a hank light. It would be great to have a video to show you what it actually entails from start to finish.tnx!
Does it come with a battery? How do you charge?
None of Hank's lights come with batteries.
Just ordered 2 of my first Hank lights the noctigon k9.3 and the d4sv2 after watching this video im guessing neither one are coming with batteries what should i order?
If you're in the US, go to 1860batterystore.com or illumn.com and get a flat-top unprotected 21700 and 26650 of your choice
@@LuxWad thank you very much for the reply
@@LuxWad I need a charger as well? Can you use a protected battery?I’ve never used a unprotected battery
@@NHWilderness Get the XTAR VC4SL that I reviewed on the channel. You cannot use a protected cell
They make this like in a 6500k and a 5000k version. Would you say the 6500k has a bluish tint and the 5000k is more "white"?
6500K is more "white", 5000K is more yellowish in comparison. I find 5000K to be more natural and pleasant, it's closer to daylight white
i'm considering getting this, but it'd be my first light using 18650/18350. does it have LVP and/or a built in way to check the batteries? (don't really wanna carry around my multimeter to check manually!) if not, perhaps i should get protected cells, just in case. OR the dw4, since anduril won't kill my batteries. thoughts?
Yes it has LVP, the button indicator will also turn red when your voltage gets low.
@@LuxWad cool, thank you!
i just got the x75 today. thank you for this video, very useful to me 🤘🙂
Pretty cool I'm rocking a sealey 2500sb just now seen them ? Your thoughts if yes? Lol 👍
750 lumens for close to 10 mins is pretty impressive considering the amount of throw and size/max output of the light imo. I love Emisars and have a D4S, D4V2 & have a D4K I'm waiting to order but they can't maintain close to their max output for even 3 mins or less. Obviously they are much brighter and heat gets them but the throw for the size is impressive to me. The P02 seems like a better light with SS bezel, bigger battery. I just bought one on a whim cause it was $17.50 shipped. Seems like a fun light despite it's shortcomings and a steal for less than $20.
Hey Lux (or anyone that can give me some advice) being very new to this side of the hobby, is it still worth getting the d4v2 or any other hank light that is currently on offer or should I wait for them to get them same changes that the d3aa has?
I don't know that a V3 is coming anytime soon, and while the new changes are nice, I would just recommend getting the V2 if you want it.
@@LuxWad Thank you so much for the quick reply! I guess I'll go ahead and pull the trigger on the d4v2 especially since there's a sale going on right now.
Convoy H2 looks decent too
Hello sir, can tell me c2 pro XHP50.2 LED is 6V or 12V, thx.
I don't know how it's implemented here
Sorry to bother but I have few questions! Can you charge 2 different batteries at the same time? By that I mean, 2 batteries with different capacity, or 2 the same but different charge to get them at the same level...? I guess what I'm really asking is, if there are 2 batteries in the device do they charge separately, or do they have to both have same capacity and charge from the start?
Both batteries are chargd completely independently, you don't have to worry about mixing cell sizes or charge levels.
