I can relate in a small way. I was born with Spina Bifida, (SB) and growing up, I didn’t t know anyone with SB over the age of 30. So, I grew up believing I would die by the time I was 30. As a result of that belief, I didn’t plan for my future. I told people I wanted to be a writer, which *has* always been my dream, but after taking five years to graduate high school (9th-12th grade), and *really* struggling my first year in college, I have been struggling with the idea of what to do with my future. Now, I’m past 30, and I feel paralyzed by fear. When I’ve tried to seriously work toward goals, I got sick. So now, I am terrified of the idea that here I am at almost 50, and I haven’t accomplished anything I had wanted to when I was a child, all because of my fear of it being yanked out from under me.

The failure here is your dreadful NHS which should have addressed early mental health ! And could of and should of been sued of such ! Here in Australia we address mental health even in pre teen and the family unit as such even before transitioning to adult services ! Every child Is seen by social work and psychological services after diagnosis right through to clinic services as a child. They are then screened as a adolescent, supports put in place before transferring the adolescent to adult hospital at age 18. However the process of transfer begins at 14/15 and a entire whole person approach mind body and soul occurs. I'm disgusted you didn't get this care , and could legally sue as such

Your feelings are absolutely valid! I do not have CF, but have friends who do. People with certain other illnesses have similar feelings to what you shared.

I honestly don't know why you as a consumer of being a CF patient don't get angry to change bed availablity ? We would never put up with such bad service here in Australia, further, why the CF service can't support IV antibiotics at home ? It's a bad model of care , makes patients dependent on inpatient beds, and actually cheaper of the NHS had any sensible staff figuring their books ! To keep patients reliant on inpatient bends not only costs a lot, it stops self education of disease and management, yet also educating the client and family. Sorry NHS your model disgusts me !!!

Cystic Fibrosis.. words that horrified me and My husband. I was diagnosed very late at 22. I'm 23 now. I've had a double lung transplant as well as a heart transplant (different condition) but I don't know of what I'm about to type will offend you and if it does I'm sorry. CF should bugger off.

The bitch with CF is that you randomly get a lung infection and your body doesn't fight and you die. Or you randomly get reduced lung function and you need medical attention asap or you die. It's stuff like that.. I believe we'll be able to treat CF completely in a decade or so, maybe 15 years.. hang on until then. very nice documentary btw

I started kaftrio with a lung function of 18% , and now I’m at 40’s, and with that comes my mental health and I’ve never felt so low in my life. I think because I’m in this limbo of not being well enough to work being well enough to live is so hard. And again I never planned this life. The door to this life has ALWAYS been locked and now it’s open and I’m to scared to even walk in. It’s so hard to explain to people how it feels. But surviving a life you didn’t plan for it’s the most terrifying thing. Kaftrio saved me but also leaving me with this depression & anxiety I’ve never experienced xx

I have question for you over lung transplant for cystic fibrosis. Can bacterial from old cystic fibrosis lungs infected new donor lungs after lung transplant for being sill being in CF sinus? Cf patient who had lung transplant call Eliana cotter stay that she had some lung infections like her old lungs can that can happen .

Hi dear you look pretty 😍 since when you have cough I can take you to good doctor 👨‍⚕️ please while you cough spit that phelgm which sticked in your chest you cover your mouth by wipes 🧻 and cough tightly by taking a deep breath from your nose please and spit that phelgm from your chest other wise the doctor 👨‍⚕️ can split that phelgm from your chest theres small machine can reach it in your mouth dear till your chest he will split out from your chest dear you will feel more comfortable and you can sleep tonight without choking dear 💋😘

Such an interesting video xxx Thanks for sharing. I was offered trikafta when my baby boy was born. It was extremely overwhelming. In an instant my whole life changed.My whole identity changed over night, not only was i given the new title of mum i felt i was stripped of my cf badge. Even now when i speak about cf, i have found my self saying “when i had cf, or when i used to be sick” lol. I am so so grateful for my new life and these wonderful drugs but there is so much that comes with it also. My size 6 frame is a thing of the past. I feel like i have all this pressure to makes something of my life now (i believe transplant patients feel the same) x I am glad you are doing so well lovely ! Alot of people with CF have come off their other drugs with Kaftrio. I saw you just drinking water to take your drug,they say you're supposed to eat fatty foods to absorb the Kaftrio.
