Adirondack canoe camping trip with our new puppy
Join us as we take our newly adopted puppy Keeta on her very first camping trip in the Adirondacks. I brought my Swift prospector 14 pack, and we hiked a couple miles to a remote pond for 2 nights. I fished quite a bit with no luck, but we did manage to see quite a bit of wildlife and had great weather the whole time. Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoy the video! If you do enjoy it, please like, comment, and subscribe.

Everyone out here cooking bacon and eggs for their videos
I just got 2 of these brand new in a garage sale!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
high quality videos 👍🏻 good work
And have you ever used a percolator? I love using percolators on the stove top. I collect vintage coffee makers. I imagine they would be awesome to use camping too.
I have a question I've always wondered about these. When you pump that stem do you have to keep pumping it when the pressure gets low and you want to continue cooking? Or is it like once you pressurize it is it good to go for the duration of your cooking? Same deal with a Coleman lantern. Like will it start to go down and you have to repressurise it? I remember these from when I was a kid but have never used one myself, or even seen seen one used in over 30 years.
QUESTION CAN YOU COOK IN A WELL VENTED KITCHEN. LIKE IN A HOUSE?❤️🙏
I wouldn't advise doing it, definitely dangerous for a few reasons. The biggest caution is if the stove were to malfunction and cause a fire. I've had mine flame up pretty good a few times, and it would have been a disaster if it happened indoors.
But do you also have the toast making stand and the griddle top? I do….. they were my dads. I even have the lantern and the angle bracket for it that’s supposed to keep bugs out of the boat haha😅
Not yet, I have a bunch of lanterns and a few stoves. Still have a list of things I want to get. Very cool stuff for sure, and built to last.
@@AlansOutdoorAdventures he also had a Seaway brand aluminum cook set for 4 but old plastic and aluminum may be best to retire it…. Not really sure.
You never feed Buddy 🤷🏼
Who is "Buddy"?
En qué año se fabricó este modelo ... tengo 2 ..y otras dos modelo 413 H... quisiera saber en qué año se fabricaron ...
Enjoyed the video. What brand of bushcraft knife were you using?
@citrumpet1 thanks for watching, very much appreciated! That knife is a bushlore made by condor. It's a great knife for the price- very durable and holds a good edge. I've had it almost 5 years and it's been great.
Cool. I have the condor wayfinder....1095 steel and a tad bigger. Nice knives, especially for the price.
The sound of nature is the perfect music 🎶
@@zachsilvero6033 I couldn't agree more!
Nice
I'm excited to use my new (to me) Coleman camp stove.... found it at a local thrift store for only $10..... SCORE
Good times !
For sure, love being out there! Cheers my friend!
Awesome adventure. Thank you for sharing.
@cabledaug37 thanks for watching and stopping by to comment, very much appreciated!
Nice trip and video. What flies were the best and what type of fly line did you use? About how far behind the boat was the fly? Thanks
@dontherre3202 I had success with a mickey finn size 8, little brown trout size 8, and a black leech pattern with a red head size 6. The fly line I was using was a Cortland type 3 full sinking line, with a 10ft 4x fluorocarbon leader. I had about 50ft of line behind the boat. Since it was early spring, the fish were relatively shallow. This was my first time using this method, I've still got a lot to learn. I've certainly been humbled the last 2 trips I've been on. Thanks for watching and stopping by to comment, very much appreciated!
Well done..thanks for sharing
:)
Is the trail strenuous at all?
I have the original D426 three stove version and I have the original stand that came with it..
Most excellent!
@markcummings6856 thank you for watching, very much appreciated!
I’ve done a lot of river traveling when I was younger. Always used scuba diving boots. In those days these were the best.
Looks like a nice boat. Would be nice if you told what material it was made from. The hull. The gunnels. After all a chev is just a chev unless it has a 427.
Checking out Part 1, now!
What kind of bait did you use? I’m heading up this weekend
@christianalonso32 I was using a lake clear wabbler with nightcrawlers. If you aren't familiar with this method, there are some good videos explaining how to use them on UA-cam. Here's a link to the best video I've found- m.ua-cam.com/video/SrmHntZLSXU/v-deo.html&pp=ygUYbGFrZSBjbGVhciB3YWJibGVyIHNldHVw . Thanks for watching, and good luck on your trip!
What time of years is this to see the colors
@BethKnox32 this was the second week of October. But sometimes the colors peak a little bit before that, it varies year to year depending on weather.
The new pup hit the jackpot.
She's a great little pup, she'll be a good little adventure dog along with Sammy. Thanks for watching, very much appreciated!
@@AlansOutdoorAdventures you bet Alan. Enjoy the rest of your summer.
Can you please provide details on how you kept the meat for 7 days? I assume you froze and had a hard cooker or did you just use the cooler in the barrel. Love the video!
I freeze all of the meat we bring and pack frozen water bottles with it. We use the cooler in the food barrel. It works pretty well. We also do the majority of our camping trips during the spring and fall, so the temps are considerably lower, which helps us keep meat longer. Thanks for watching and stopping by to comment, very much appreciated!
Nice quick trip. Was that a little of Jay’s theme music I heard in there lol?
@ADKAddicts Jays theme music? I didn't realize that was a thing lol. I have a music service I use, I download songs from there, just been using different stuff to switch it up lately so I'm not using the same songs all the time. Thanks for watching, very much appreciated!
@@AlansOutdoorAdventures the song that was playing I think when you were showing the ducks sounds like the music Jay has playing in the background a lot. It’s all good we all use the music from a lot of the same places.
Beautiful pond ! Love the rocks. Sammy , the one and only ! Thanks for sharing ! Peace ✌️
@MeetMeOutside it really is beautiful, love the Adirondacks! Thanks for watching and stopping by to comment, really appreciate it! Cheers buddy!
Congratulations Keeta on finding Alan and Tracy !! Thx for sharing another beautiful video guys!
@andrewczuba498 thanks for watching and stopping by to comment, very much appreciated! She's a great little pup so far, I think she'll be a good adventure dog just like Sammy is.
Your still the star of the show Sammy
@lastofthebohicansbowles5262 He'll always be the star, he's the best! Couldn't ask for a better dog. Thanks for watching!

Enjoyed the video ☺️ Beautiful puppy
@LordUSABless thanks! She really is a great pup, thanks for watching!
She was such a good pup for her first trip! ❤
@traceyrakusanholden5398 she really did great, can't wait to get her back out there!
Hello Keeta!!!
She's a great pup so far, thanks for watching!
just started camping, went to big pond and beaverkill so far in the catskills .. hoping to get to the adirondack’s soon. love your videos
The catskills and Adirondacks are great, so many options and so beautiful. Thanks for watching and stopping by to comment, very much appreciated!
Absolutely beautiful stream 😊 Reminds me of some of the places I go in the adirondacks 😊
It sure is a beautiful area! Love the Adirondacks too, definitely my favorite place to go. Thanks for watching!
Nifty
Cool I hiked the 50 it was buggy, wet, and feet destroyed swear I would never go back. This made want to canoe 🛶 the ponds. We skipped cat mt on hike but when canoe camping on cranberry lake worked cat mt in and it was a beautiful fall day. Thanks for sharing.
We want to do the 50 eventually, it's been on our list for a while now. The ponds were so beautiful, definitely one of my favorite trips so far. Cat Mountain was spectacular, I bet it was awesome in the fall. Thanks for watching and stopping by to comment, very much appreciated!
I fished Five Ponds as a kid. I need to get back there.
It sure is nice in there, so beautiful and peaceful. I lived in cranberry lake for a few years as a kid, never got back into the ponds but did fish the Oswegatchie and the lake quite a bit. Just an awesome area, definitely love going back.
Sorry about that scratch on your new boat! someone must have planted that shovel in the ground and forgot it there. the wood handle probably rotted off over time! I have to admit, I am partial to the hornbecks. That little 12' classic is such a perfect boat for up there in the Adirondacks . The Swift is awesome though, plenty of room for all your gear, food barrel and Sammy! And it seems tp paddle well with that nice single blade that you made. The 'tumble-home' works well! Nice bonus part 2, I was surprised and didn't expect the Oswegatchie River! Hopefully I'm going out today or tomorrow here in northern maine where I live. waiting on a buddy to show up ! Thanks again for sharing!😎
I love the swift, but definitely still have a place in my heart for the Hornbeck. It's so light, much easier to carry into the hard to reach backcountry ponds. I want to get up to Maine sometime to explore, hopefully next year. Thanks for watching and stopping by to comment, very much appreciated! I hope you have a great trip!
Hey Alan... this was great. I really enjoyed the Oswegatchie leg of the trip. Tracey got quite good at getting in her boat... she had lots of practice on this trip with all those dams. Sammy is such a good canoe dog. My pup loves canoeing but insists on sitting right between our legs and facing forward... which isn't too bad... but it would be great if she laid down like Sammy. Thanks for sharing... and I hope your summer is going great.
Oh... I almost forgot.... I got a good chuckle out of when Tracey held up those huge rain pants. They were like 4x too large. Like my size. haha.
Tracey is definitely getting comfortable with the Hornbeck, she loves it. Sammy really is the best, we got so lucky with him. We really enjoyed going down the Oswegatchie, so beautiful and peaceful. And Tracey's rain pants 🤣🤣🤣 I had to leave that part in. She couldn't find hers at home before we left for this trip so I loaned her those lol. Thanks for watching and stopping by to comment, very much appreciated! Hope all is well with you, have a great summer!
Those brookies were beauties. Looked like an amazing trip and a great route you planned.
It sure was a great trip, went by too fast though. Thanks for watching and stopping by to comment, very much appreciated!
That was a really awesome trip. I loved watching it! 🙂
We definitely had a great time, went by way too fast though. Thanks for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Outstanding ! Congratulations on 1 thousand subs ! You deserve way more ! That trip looks like a blast ! Glad you’re happy with your canoe, it’s a beautiful canoe. Go Sammy !
Thanks Craig! I really appreciate all of your support! It sure was an awesome trip, and the canoe is great. Sammy really is the best adventure dog. Keep me posted if you're still interested in meeting up in October, it would be cool to do a trip. Thanks again, cheers buddy!
@@AlansOutdoorAdventures For sure ! Although I don’t want to be a “ third wheel “ LOL 😂 Just kidding ! I will keep it touch ! Peace ✌️
What a great trip. I definitely want to do the Oswegatchie again! Can't wait to get back out there 😁
It sure was an amazing trip, one we won't soon forget. I really liked the Oswegatchie too, next time I'm doing more fishing though lol.
Go Sammy
He sure is a great adventure dog! Thanks for watching, very much appreciated!
I backpacked this route and that was a killer, couldn’t imagine carrying a canoe that distance. Kudos to you and what a great trip. Passing by all those brook trout ponds on my trip made me curious as to what I was missing out on. Thanks for sharing
It would have been a lot easier for us if we hadn't brought so much stuff, haha. We're going back there in October, this time we're only bringing dehydrated and freeze dried meals to cut down on weight. Thanks for watching and stopping by to comment, very much appreciated!
Enjoyed that very much, nice trip and video. Great idea for a long trip
Thanks David, very much appreciated!
