The problem with this run is amazon forgot to cover one side of it .... The bottom. Biggest pests dig under. Raccoons. Also clam shell pieces on the ground for added calcium and thicker shells. Red bulb in hen house at night to help lay eggs. Chickens fav snack is a handful of rice.

Just got 20 of these chicks this spring. It's the first year the June bugs haven't ravaged my grape leaves and I haven't seen any boxelder beetles in the yard make it to adulthood. These guys are awesome foragers. I thought chickens would be so much more work but these guys are incredible. They put themselves to bed at night before the auto-door closes, they've ganged up on the one cat we thought would give them problems.. just amazing birds. Still a month or two away from egg production.

I just got a hen . She has a damaged paw. She was kept in a cage. She is atleast 8 months. I was concerned about her personality as she didn't freerange. Thank you for info. I have 2 rhoade island reds. A rooster and hen . I have had them since they were chicks. I didn't realize that their personality types were so different. My Reds are extremely outgoing. I didn't realize that my new hen, Tabby would have such a different personality. I have had her for a few weeks. Her foot is healing. Your description makes alot of sense to me. She likes to hang out under the shade of a tree or bush. She is kinda lazy. She would rather be hand fed then forage. She is just amazing. She actually likes to get pet without being picked up.Before I got her she was never outside of a cage let alone free ranged . It is amazing how she could get over her caged life and trust humans so quickly. She loves being held . Birds are weird. I am a dog person.

I bought a slightly smaller version and its pure garbage. Nothing will keep out any predators with that thin chicken wire and if you have a top on it snow or heavy rain will crush it. I see disaster ahead. but hope not

I also have this run, my only complaint is the door latch! We used hardware cloth instead and I think it made the structure more sturdy, but also made the latch very difficult to open and close!

You should consider useing pvc pipes to make a vertical auto feeder which is more sanitary and saves on food plus you could get a rain barrel to catch rain and purchase cup style auto water feeder and that is also more sanitary.

This is a quaker parrot they are friendly and can be taught to talk , maybe a loose pet?

Sweet Pea is a Thicc Chick. So true that they do fine in confined areas, I have a huge back yard and they prefer to just chill on my patio and poke at stuff like ok girls go outside and play already

You can also sprinkle diatomaceous earth where they dust bath that helps with parasites

Great! Just that antibiotics hardly prevent/fight worms. Usually antihelminths levamisole, piperazine, flubendazole can help with endoparasitic worms (roundworms; ascarids, tapeworms) With the eating bit after ivermec treatment, always read your withdrawal period on the label. #Don’t forget to consult your veterinarian
