Hey! I have that same cage! Got it from Amazon and since I’m an older woman it took me a couple days to set up but it’s a fabulous cage. The thing I like best about it is that the sparrows can’t get thru the small chicken wire to eat all of the food. Saves me tons of money in bird feed. I would warn anyone who gets this cage in a high wind area to be sure to it down. Mine is connected to another larger cage.
I'm also in Texas (North Texas) and I have free ranging Hens who adopted me and my place, they came into my yard from next door. I guess they like it better at my place and since the guy next door had over 100+ hens, he didn't mind a dozen or two coming over. I have a foldable doggy pool I keep water in, as well as a rubber water dish I put water in for them that is covered by a cattle panel arched over the water and Doggy Pool and I threw a blue shade cloth over the top which blocks direct sun. I have trees out back and some of the lower branches are low, so they get under the low branches and under the shade. Something else I do, is I save the Dr Pepper bottles (both individual servings AND 2 liter bottles) and I fill them wirh water and freeze them and throw them into water containers I keep on my front porch (which is shaded) so they come up on the porch, drink cooler water, lay an egg sometimes as a thank you gift and then go on their merry way. I so plan on building them their own home in the fall, when the temps get cooler so they can be cozy and safe this winter.! I almost forgot, my neighbors love to eat watermelon and they cut up the rinds and throw them in their fridge and when they go to town for shopping or Doctors visits, they stop by my gate and drop them over the fence/gate. The Hens LOVE it and my neighbors love seeing them run (or waddle) to the gate to get their treats!
I'm in Texas as well. Yes it's hot. I have 2 fans in my coop, for when they lays eggs and for when they sleep at night.. During the day I have hose on very low for them to cool down as well. Today I did get 5 eggs. I have 5 hens.
Hi! I just got some chicks and found you from your aggressive chick video 😢 we unfortunately have one frizzle that is just attacking anything they see and we are trying the “chick jail” method. Fingers crossed

Great information.Thank you.
Thanks so much for watching and your comment! 💞💞
Misting systems work very well to keep them cool. Also, put your cage under a tree.
