    With the dies, you just lay the fabric (up yo 6 layers) on the die, top with the pad and roll it through. I've had a scanncut2, this is why I sold it. You have to either irin on a stabilizsr or starch your fabrics to make them stiff. Then, you need to program you desugn in (or scan it) abd tweak it until its the size you want ....then cut it. I realize the dies are pricey (i wait for good sales), but for me, thd Accuquilt is do much easier and by far faster.

    If a person could only afford k e and only one die. The 2-1/2” strip die is the one to get. Yes, there are plenty,of ways to cut out always. Ended jelly roll size strips, but this die, especially the one that can cut 3 strips will actually give you enough strips for a queen quilt binding. A few months ago I spent several work days with my quilt guild just cutting this size strips from all kinds of scraps to be used for our donation quilts. Even a piece of fabric that has enough width to make a strip (don’t worry about the length) can be used. Our guild was making diagonally pieced strip blocks so the length of a strip didn’t matter.

    • @TammisStitches
      @TammisStitches 6 днів тому

      Hi Sandy😊 I agree with you about the 2 1/2” strip die. I truly is the most versatile die! Your guild sounds like an amazing group of people 😊. You’re so lucky to have them. Please share the channel with them, maybe they’ll enjoy the content as well. Thanks & I’ll see you in the next video😊👋🏽

    I love the heart die. I didn't buy the churn dash BOB cause I have the single dies. So I use them to make my churn dash. I do have a question you may have covered it before. I see all these dies where people mark them out with a sharpie. Is this a must do and why do it? And if yes do it what are the measurements. Thanks in advance.

    • @TammisStitches
      @TammisStitches 6 днів тому

      Hi Vickie😊. Thanks for your question. Typically quilters mark their dies with a sharpie to outline the area in which they will place the fabric with the goal of minimizing fabric waste. Marking the dies with a sharpie allows you to rough cut your fabric prior to placing the fabric on the die. It makes it easier when you want to cut different color fabrics on say a BOB die. You can place the fabric without so much overlap, therefore minimizing fabric waste. I don’t personally mark my dies because I just precut my fabric with 1/4”-1/2” wider to accommodate the die shape. If you choose to mark your dies, I would say mark it 1/4”-1/2” wider than the shape on the die. That should give you enough wiggle room and minimize fabric waste. I hope this helps 😊

    • @vickiesorensen472
      @vickiesorensen472 6 днів тому

      @TammisStitches Thank you. I do like you just cut 1/4 to 1/2. I will continue to do it that way for now. Accuquilt utube showed the start of my wall hanger. It was a sew along. Watching your show helps me get better and better. Thank you!

    Hi Tammi, I just found you and looked at your page. It looks like you use the accu-cut often. Do you do much with just rulers and rotary cutter or mostly the machine?

    • @TammisStitches
      @TammisStitches 7 днів тому

      Hello 😊. Thank you so much for checking out the channel, I appreciate your interest 😊. My rotary cutting and ruler skills are terrible so I pretty much stick with what I’m good at which is using the AccuQuilt & Scan N Cut machines to cut fabric. I do use a rotary cutter and rulers to do “rough” cuts on fabric, but cutting out pieces for quilt blocks using those tools is not in my comfort zone.😊

    Hey Tammi! 🥰 I like to slice and dice blocks and play with different block designs. I see a candle in the center! 😮 looking at the block, turn it counter clock wise two times and the purple and green strip look like a saucer, the orange and yellow strips are the candle, tiny 2 light triangles are the flame. Just what I saw 😊. I’m sitting here playing with 1.5” squares leftover from scrappy Arkansas Crossroads quilt top. I have so many different color squares left I thought I’d make some 9 patch blocks for another project while I think about a backing for quilt top. Anyway, I love what you did with your block! ❤ See you in the next video. 👍

    I’m not a grunge person either. I like the blue center block a bit better because the corners highlight the zig zag. I prefer Bella to Kona because it feels softer to the hand and doesn’t fray as much as Kona to me. I always enjoy your videos have a great weekend😊

    I'm wondering how the GO! cuts the fabric. And how often does the Brother cutter blade need replacing and how much does it cost (the circling blade)?

    • @TammisStitches
      @TammisStitches 12 днів тому

      Hello & thank you for your questions 😊. The Go! Cuts just as well as the other cutters. The Go! Will accommodate larger dies compared to the Go!Me, so you have more die options with the Go! The “rotary” blade (the circle one) for the Scan N cut costs approximately $40 for the blade alone and approximately $60 for the initial kit. I haven’t needed to replace my rotary blade yet. But I don’t use the machine frequently. I pretty much use it to cut appliqué pieces. I hope this helps😊 I’ll see you in the next video😊👋🏽

    This was so helpful. I have two Accuquilt cutters. The medium size and the mini. The issue I have with these two machine are you cannot make 10” blocks. You have to purchase the Go Big. Which is large and heavy. Plus, you are limited, with any of the Accquilt machines, to the size of any block. There is very few dies that come in more than one size. Then you have cost of mat replacements. Shipping with AccQuilt Company is expensive. Few stores in my area sell the dies or cutting mats. ScanNCut, I like the idea of being able to make blocks any size. Moreover, you don’t have keep buying dies. Can you program other designs? The ScanNCut, it is more work to get a design cut out but in the long run you have more choices. I am going to look into purchasing the machine. Thanks for the information.

    The precision of cutting plus I can cut more than a couple or so pieces at a time were some of the first things that attracted me to getting my Accuquilt machine! The ore-trimmed dog ears are also super great and with the amount of geometric dies for so many blocks, I could cut a sew forever! And there are some blocks that I would never even consider (the spikey ones especially!). I’m so glad you have been introducing so many people (both new quilters and others who have been quilting) to these wonderful machines that can be such a help.

    Absolute not - Accuquilt will not damage creativity! Yes, there are many types,of quilts I would never even consider (even though I love them!) because I just do not have the talent these people do! But with Accuquilt I could make the same quilt over and over with different fabrics and for me that’s creativity! I won’t be doing this in reality!!! Personality, I have great difficulty with quilts in all solids as I just don’t care for that, but I ca. appreciate the creativity!!!
