    Have seen the Opinionated Quilter video today? I can't believe the baloney she about AQ.
    AQ on their website in the right upper corner as GO QUILT. This takes you to adapting quilt patterns with the AQ dies. Can Scan & Cut devices do that?
    With AQ you save the price of it in rotary cutter blades. I have yet to have a die wear out.

      Hi Marina😊 Thank you so much for commenting! I just watched her video. Based on her statements, she comes across as inexperienced and minimal knowledge on how to use the AccuQuilt cutting system. I use my Scan N Cut for special shapes & appliqués. When I adapt patterns that are traditionally written for rotary cutting, I use my AccuQuilt tools. I appreciate your support. I’ll see you in the next video 😊👋🏽

      @@TalohaStudios She's really opinionated about the wonderful usefulness of Deb Tucker rulers. She uses them for her tutorials. She says a lot about being frugal, what about saving money on rotary cutter blades? I'm sure that in the 70s there was great resistance to switch to rotary cutters by established quilters.

    Hi Tammi! You have a good assortment of dies! I don't think that was a bad price for the custom die you had made. I have used one cutting plate till it cut a section out and had to get another one. I got the 2pk. I have looked at the bowl cozy and will definitely purchase that for sure because I could make them for Christmas gifts. Let me get off here and go finish sorting fabric to put in clear bins so I can see what I have. Look forward to the next video. 🥰

    Over many years I have purchased dies, (before cubes were available), several specialty dies and have all the strip dies and cubes with companions. some bobs. I love the strip dies. I can't cut narrow strips to save my life, Yay for dies, perfect and fast. I've had to make up the larger cubes because I had purchased several separates. I made a list of what I had, then bought the ones I didn't. I purchased the storages boxes and use labels to identify what cube and size, works great. Since I haven't really used the dies much, I have decided to first go to them to see what will work in a bought pattern. (unless I buy a kit and the fabric is "just" enough for a rotary cutter). Your video made me excited again about using the dies! Thanks

    I can remember (so long ago) when I thought I didn't really need a Go! cutter because I could rotary cut pretty well. I thought it was only worth it for applique and at the time I didn't do enough of that to push me to buy. They got me though when they started doing the BOB dies! The first die I purchased is a now discontinued (pieced) Basket block die. I had made the same block with regular rotary cutting so knew I had to have that one and still use it today. The second one I got was the Log Cabin die which I love, love, love! Both for making the blocks and when I need 1-1/2" strips of specific sizes (made a great pieced border for a pandemic mystery project with it). The idea of being able to cut all the fabrics and pieces for complex blocks like Storm At Sea, Cross Roads, the Glorified Nine Patch, Carpenter's Wheel (yep have 'em all, LOL!) in one pass sucked me right in!
    Once I was sliding down the slope, even some basic dies became "necessary": I did find that I liked using the Value die that came with my machine for cutting two inch finished HSTs and squares in bulk. I make a lot of scrap quilts so it wasn't hard to convince myself that I needed the 10" square boards that cut both the one and two inch finished HSTs and the one inch finished squares in even greater bulk (like sixteen at a time vs six on the Value die). I have one Cube -- I also have the nine inch and just the Angles -- because a lot of the BOBs I have are that size which means I can easily make companion blocks for them. Also since it includes a five inch square die, I can die cut (scrappy) charm squares with ease. And of course due to Accuquilt's periodic great sales I now have an applique die stash as well!
    Ironically, years ago I purchased a custom die to make the angled roof, gable and door rectangle to add to strips from my Log Cabin die to make a 12 inch pieced Schoolhouse block because back then they only had that as an applique block. Of course now they have the pieced nine inch schoolhouse (yep, have it) and of course that also goes with my Cube. Surprisingly though, I don't own any strip dies: I can't justify buying (and storing) those since I very much like using a Stripology ruler for strips and strip subcuts. I do however long for the day when I can have a dedicated space to put a Go! Big. One day!

    Great overview! I bought my Go back in 2011 for the same reason you got into it. I have been adding to my collection all these years. I have over 250 dies. The Qubes have been amazing and I have them all. My 12” Qube dies were purchased individually over the years so I was a huge fan when the Qube was released. I also love my BOB dies. I found early on that the appliqué dies weren’t a great value to me. I just don’t use them that much. I don’t own a lot of them but have purchased a few for special projects. Glad to see another Accuquilt enthusiast!

    I have the Accuquilt Studio (older one). I finally got around to writing down what dies I have. I love my 2 1/2 inch strip cutter and use it the most. I recently bought the roses die for a quilt I wanted to make. Which will take over 300 different size roses. No way I would ever have been able to cut those out. Most have not been used, YET! I did not get mine all at once. I waited on sales. There are always 40% and sometimes 50% off sales. When I added up the value of what I had it came to just a bit over $5000. My invoices showed I paid a little over $2100. Accuquilt has been a great addition to my quilting studio.

    Thank you! This was very helpful. Purchased a pre-loved AccuQuilt Go 2 days ago with many dies. I used the 3 1/2 strip cutter. It worked great but must be older as no diagonal lines. Needed to use the rotary cutter to sub cut the strips to 4 1/2. Looking to purchase dies for my frequently used sizes. Perhaps a cube is the way to go.

    • @TalohaStudios
      @TalohaStudios  2 місяці тому

      Hi Patty😊. I’m so glad you found the video helpful! Congratulations on your purchase! Welcome to the AccuQuilt enthusiasts family 😊. As far as the ineffective cuts go… Are the mats that came with the dies “really used” if so, start with buying a new mat, that may solve the cutting issue. Next use a flashlight and possibly a magnifying glass to see if you can visualize any “bent” blades between the foam. The dies could have been dropped and dropping the dies may possibly cause the blades to bend. If you see bent blades, you’ll just have to continue cutting off those areas with rotary cutter. Those are my troubleshooting tips 😉. The Go!Qube sets are my favorites because they’re so versatile. I’d love it if you’d subscribe & join me for more videos 😊👋🏽

      Brenda, I have the GoMe which is the same as the GoBaby, a GoBig and a Studio2 cutter. If you get the entry level GoMe, AccuQuilt says you can use approximately 70% of their dies with that cutter. If you get the Qube sets 9in or smaller they 100% work with the GoMe/GoBaby😊

      I didn’t post to be mean. I have one and used my Accuquilt machine a long time but those dies are very expensive.
