Hi! I am new to drifting, I would like to learn how to drift slowly, by driving on Mount Akina everyday!
I will be posting my daily timelaps on Mt Akina until I'm used to it and starts drifting!
I drive IRL as well but the whole sim driving feels very different, its very slippery or doesnt turn when I want to.
Taking in advices, please help me improve ^^
I dont upload daily as I work multiple jobs but i still do 1 lap every night even though i dont record it!
None of these videos are monetized, theyre all for my self improvement.
Daily Mt Akina until I can finally go to the real Mt Akina and do it there myself ! Follow the journey!

Day 34 - Drifts
Day 34 progress:
Hi everyone, as I've explained in the video above
I want to learn more of extending drifts/controlling the drifts!
So far I've only managed to do corner drifts really and I want to widen my knowledge more
what does this mean? I will not prioritize speeds/time attack, and I will put braking drift as usual but I will also start to use clutch for area that I don't have power on!
I'll try to drift on some drift maps till I'm comfortable with drifting and we'll see how it goes
Thank you so much for the amount of comments and subscribes I get, to follow on my journey to learn this, one day we will try it on mount Akina for real~ I read every comments and taking all advices to thoughts and it motivates me to keep trying my best! I didnt expect I'd get this much support and subs ~

Hey everyone
in this series, I'll be driving on Mt Akina everyday until I learn to do it smoothly, and eventually drift. I'll be posting my timelaps until I improve myself, and go to the real Mt Akina and properly drift there, and become a professional racer!
Of course I'm not the real Takumi or roleplaying as him, but because I'm trying to learn the same way he did, so you can call me Takumi, for nickname!
I'm new to sim racing, as its slippery for me compared to IRL
all these videos are for my self improvement, so advices are welcomed!
hoping one day I can race fellow racers too, make friends and race on these mountain pass :)
Even if I don't upload everyday, I try to do a lap of Akina before I sleep!
I work double shifts on 3 -4 days so I get tired when I get home but Im dedicated to learn how to drift!
Apologies if my English isn't the best~
Setup :
Logitech G293 + H shifter manual, Ebay handbrake ;-;
let me know where I can improve, downshifting, upshifting etc!~

Tighter hairpins however, I've never been able to get smoke on. Good luck though. It looks like you're still making good progress even with your injuries which I hope recover well.

Yes im not focusing on the lines yet. No outside inside outside yet, ive explained on other episodes that im not chasing for speed yet and just focusing on doing / initiating corners.. if you want to see the grip runs videos, check another vid i think i have one thats 5:10..
@@realTakumifujiwara you should start to learn "the lines"... use the whole track, you lose way too much speed by forcing your car to stay on half of the track. you can brake less and accelerate more if you stay more on the outside before the corner and going more on the outside when exiting the corner (if there obviously isnt a corner directly after that). you should try more circuits racing, to try and learn how to drive better, having curbs and a ton of videos explanation can help you learn way better than just "mindlessly" driving on togue maps
@@Fabio-ef9fi hey man, I did lines and grip racing previously, i mentioned on the.. day 11 vs 21 video i think.. i can focus on the lines and aim for speed but more over i want to focus on my inertia braking drifts first, because the idea of the series is to learn how to drift properly! Most of the times, if i focus on speed and lines, i will end up crashing on some part of the map.. i only wanted to upload and get cleaner runs for now so i can race people.. also the weird lines is because I was racing someone / nervous when hes gonna take over.. but when im more confident in my drifts, i will do both lines + drifts
love the pendulum flicks
Driving no good
Thanks :)

For sure when my leg recovers!
Gonna enjoy watching this channel blow up
Amen , fasten your seatbelts!
Let me explain it for you. You hit a bump on the entry of the corner, which upset the cars balance, shifting it into a drift. You most likely instinctively started a. Countersteer. You kept the throttle at the perfect position to keep the car in a drift.
Let me know when you hop on the server i would love to race you
Hey steve, for sure when my leg recovers, i'll add you guys :)
its nice to see you getting better if you wanna learn slip angle go watch the "slip angle in touge" by that sim racing bloke its the most simple explanation and it will make u faster i learned from that guy and my personal best time is 4:50 minutes using slip angle so try it if you have time
Of course you use slip angle because your vehicle has tyres 😭
Ayo! I think these two runs were good and I can see you actually started to feel something different, you have a lot less understeer, and I specially loved the hairpins from 6:40 on, those where some solid entries, just a little slow, because you need to get used to accelerating during the drift, but I felt that you just unlocked something in your brain after those hairpins. At 7:00 you did a charming transition from turn in into counter steer, but your speed was not enough. Hope you don't mind me pointing out some stuff I saw you can improve from here on: 1 The Scandinavian flick: There's nothing wrong with doing it if you like it, just know that you're limiting yourself right now as you're always positioning on the middle/inside of the corners to execute this move, but that's not necessary, you just need to be smoother with the steering, because you're changing directions too fast, and this is giving you understeer 50% of the time as you're only getting the disadvantage of increasing your angle of entry without getting the benefit of the pendulum effect, it also tricks you into slowing down earlier, when in reality its a technique you should use when you're already going slow and cannot use braking to transfer the weight. Also, you don't really need it to start a drift right now, i think with the corner entries I see you doing you should be able to perform a drift without it, which is even better. Try it like this: brake straight>heel & toe shift down>reduce braking to %40-30 and turn in quickly but sparingly>when you feel the car starts rotating bring steering to neutral and slowly get off the brakes> you should be sliding now so give gas and counter steer slowly. You'll learn when to transition into max acceleration with time. The action of smoothly getting off the brakes works the same way as turning in once the vehicle has enough weight in one side. 2 start giving gas early, but just fiddle around 50%: now, the objective always is to give enough gas to have enough forward momentum and weight in one side to complete the corner, but you gotta start somewhere. The way I learned it was to always give around %40/50 or %60 and keeping the pressure constant to see what happens, make sure to counter steer just a little as you do this, or you'll be tricked into thinking that you cannot give gas when it's untrue, this will also fix your habit of keeping the steering towards the corner when you should in reality bring it to neutral or start counter steering (7:53 as an example of not counter steering in time). Remember, gas %50 and little counter steer, This way you have a starting point and then your brain will calibrate, compare, and predict based on experience. I think if you fix those two you will 100% start learning from your mistakes without anymore feedback. As I said, I saw meaningful progress today, let's continue and you'll be mastering drifting in no time!
Thanks quickworks! Yeah whenever i initiate a drift, i just keep braking nonstop to some point its too less RPM to even do a braking drift ;-; will try to add some gas after braking so its brake to slow down > gas to higher rpm, then brake and drift!
damn big improvements man keep up the good work!
@@datboisteve5105 thank u steve!

@@Sluggslider01 thank you! Yes its a nice change of pace :)
I think carx drift is fully arcade isn't it? Like, no countersteer needed and etc. Never played it though.
@@unlimitedquickworks7387 not sure! Will check some reviews though, just watch a lot of streamers do tandem with it, so i thought theyre realistic! I havent played more than 2 hours ( only 5m lol ) should be able to refund if its not realistic :D
Glad to see you found something new in myogi, you're actually do close to doing drifts consistently, but your shift down still needs work. I'll watch this later and try to see if I can help with some of the mistakes here and there, keep driving!
@@unlimitedquickworks7387 thank u! Which shift down? Shift down during a drift or before a drift or just in general? :D
Hi! I think it's your shift down in general that needs to be smoother. Shifting down during drifts is bad for traction, you only have to do it (maybe), if you're drifting a long wide corner which then gets narrow at the exit. If you're over speeding it's best to just clutch and brake at the same time( don't clutch while drifting though as this can kill your forward momentum and send you sideways completely). I'll give you an example of why shift down during a drift is bad at 3:09. Play it at 0.5 speed and watch how the car movement goes from moving forward to going sideways the moment you shift down. Now you might ask "why is that bad? that's what I'm trying to do!" But this is bad because: you're only widening your line unnecessarily when you do that, see; you executed a secuences of traight, braking zone, and steering, all with the intention to take a certain line, to keep certain speed, and then you ruin it because your car loses traction ABRUPTLY and sends you sideways to a wider line, making you slower on the corner. If you start drifts like that you also have less control over your angle during the drift as you can't calculate exactly how the car will behave after you shift down, and the more you go sideways the slower you are since you get lower traction. So how do you fix it? Shift down before you start turning the wheel, the only thing which might still be pressed when you're starting to turn in is the clutch, but it's easier to release the clutch before turning anyways. Remember, you gotta start drifts with either braking or lift off for the transition to be as smooth as possible so that the vehicle goes to your intended line. Sorry for writing the bible here 😂
One last thing I forgot to say is that this is an uphill run and it's harder to drift uphill on the 86, the more angle you give, the more it's prompt to spin. As a general rule, any car uphill should drift with less angle and less accel, because the front tyres here lack some grip, and countersteering becomes harder, and more twitchy, but at the same time you need more accel because the vehicle stops faster, making it super hard. Still, I think even downhill you might be steering too hard into the corners! Try steering less, remember weight is the key. It might be counter intuitive, but, braking gives you grip when you start braking, the weight gets sent to the front, and then it starts going to neutral again, BUT! when that happens, you need to start releasing the brakes slowly or the extra load on the rear will make it HARDER to turn instead, it's not gonna give you front grip forever, there's that momentum I mentioned before. What I'm trying to say is turn more with the brakes and steer less, if you do it right, you might not need counter steering at all. And counter steering is something which should be done in anticipation, not in reaction. Have you watched fast & furious Tokyo drift? There is this line tsuchiya says which is mistranslated as "he's terrible" or something like that. But what he really says is "counter ga osoi" = "he's counter steering too late" he also mentioned something like that on the drift Bible IIRC.
@@unlimitedquickworks7387 thank you for the explanation, i'll try to drift without downshifting during the drifts! It does make sense that it will damage tractions, ive been doing this to extend drifts so far because whenever I do the braking drift, i just hold the brake until it slids, and usually it makes the car loses power so much that if i hit the gas on the drift, it wont be enough RPM and will grip back on the road, so i just downshift to keep the RPM high 😥 in this case, is this where clutch kick comes in? Or am i needed to hit the gas faster? Thanks!
I just read this now, you should shift down just before you turn in and increase your revs enough during downshifting, and it should be enough time for you to still be on mid rpms by the time you get on the throttle again, don't worry if it drops to 4k on 2nd gear, it can go high pretty quickly and you should prioritize smooth driving over all @@realTakumifujiwara

instead of doing full runs you can try just practicing only certain sections in freeroam you break down the course into however many sections you want, practicing going up and down in only that section and move on to the next when youre confident enough with the one youve done eventually link the whole course together and see how youve done, best to do it in freeroam not just because you can go both directions but because the timer can be stressful even if you decide not to do a time attack
@@Rad_Sk8 youre right! I think I've tried doing that before but i always end up going to the corners on different speed entry, or brake management, i cant keep up ;-; i need to do clean runs without crashing and have a clean time! But thank you though, i will definitely do that on the hairpins!
Hey man, nice video and good that you're learning again because taking breaks for a long time takes a toll on you (I know that much...). I'm shocked that there's only 1 view and no comments till now since you have 594 and I have 20 is surprising, btw if you need help with CarX I can help, anyways happy to see you again, have a great day!
@@Sluggslider01 yes the video is only up for about 1 hour! Ive stated on another vid that officially this channel only had 200 subs, the other 300-400 was through youtube promote and i didnt know youtube promote official sends out bot accounts :(
@@realTakumifujiwara well that sucks... at least you're not me, having to edit a video for a day or two like rn I'm editing one rn lol and it's been about a week because my pc had probloms so I had to wait
@@Sluggslider01 all the best to your pc, nice edits !
@@realTakumifujiwara thanks man!
i think you might be using too much brake in some of the corners where you understeered.
Yess, need to find that sweet spot when braking!
Nice to have you back, The break was well deserved, and it'll probably help you improve even more. Keep learning, keep drifting!!
Thank you !
Good to see you again
@@unlimitedquickworks7387 good to be back!
I haven't uploaded in a week XD, I feel you, I feel you. Btw, A good way to drift (with the stock ae86 and with my driving(maybe)) you can softly press on the brake and do a weight shift prob from the inside line (the inside lane on the road) and shift to out, or do the shift but as you enter you brake but then when you are in the mid then you'll press off the brake so the front tires don't skid or lock up and then once you steer into the corner after you do all that you'll want to press on the brake again so the weight will go to the front and then the back will slide out. The good thing is that the normal ae86 in assetto has good force feedback to where you can drift easy.(Not a video I'm going to post fujiwara ;) ).
@@Sluggslider01 but i thought the stock 86 has open diff? 90s wheels too, may not slide easy at all!
@@realTakumifujiwara it does???
Hello Fujiwara, I just want to ask you a qwestion if it's ok. are you in the Touge Union server? If yes then I "can" maybe race with you. maybe...
@@Sluggslider01 yes im on touge union ! But do you have assetto corsa already?
@@realTakumifujiwara I've been having asetto corsa, I tried to get online assetto (the touge union assetto server) working but it always crash's my game
watching you try very hard and explain how you are driving is honestly really entertaining and it also makes what takumi does in the anime more impressive
Thank you bread! Yes how hes one with the car is insane, driving thru and learning his opponent, his ability to adapt is insane! Id like to share my thoughts when i drive too and what i think i can fix too or the feelings or knowing my mistake heheh
@@realTakumifujiwara no prob. The pleasure is all mine. I hope to see more videos of yours with commentary too.
