  • Day 16 Progress :
I try to take things slower today instead of learning and initiating all methods at once. I am just practicing some grip lines and to downshift properly, but still need to get used to it since downhill is very fast for me~
Not a proper clean run as well, I try so hard to make it clean but I slipped in some points and it damages my wheels, making it unable to run straight :")
But I can see my flaws now on the replays and hopefully can fix it soon!
Thank you so much for the amount of comments and subscribes I get, to follow on my journey to learn this, one day we will try it on mount Akina for real~ I read every comments and taking all advices to thoughts and it motivates me to keep trying my best! I didnt expect I'd get this much support and subs ~
    Hey everyone
in this series, I'll be driving on Mt Akina everyday until I learn to do it smoothly, and eventually drift. I'll be posting my timelaps until I improve myself, and go to the real Mt Akina and properly drift there, and become a professional racer!
I'm new to sim racing, as its slippery for me compared to IRL
all these videos are for my self improvement, so advices are welcomed!
hoping one day I can race fellow racers too, make friends and race on these mountain pass :)
Even if I dont upload everyday, I try to do a lap of Akina before I sleep!
I work double shifts on 3 -4 days so I get tired when I get home but Im dedicated to learn how to drift!
Apologies if my English isn't the best~
    Setup :
    Logitech G293 + H shifter manual, Ebay handbrake ;-;
let me know where I can improve, downshifting, upshifting etc!~

Going slow is a nice way of getting better.
I'll share a bit of what I think can be improved:
On 0:12, I have no idea if that was intentional or not (since you said you're practicing some grip lines), but if it was intentional, try to keep the angle a little lower. Drifting with that much angle makes it easy to spin out and is considerably slower than a smoother, less angled drift. I find the stock tune of the AE86 Tuned a bit too grippy, which makes is pretty good on the fast corners but very easy to mess up on the slower ones, like hairpins. About the tune, you could just toy around with it, maybe watch a video to get a better understanding of how to tune it in a good way that makes it easier for your driving style. I have just created a setup for the AE86 Tuned today, so I'll be happy to share it if you want to try!
About the hairpins, they can be a bit tricky, especially if you enter them too slow, try turning in at around 60km/h in 3rd gear (depends on how your gear lenght is) and doing them in 2nd gear for grip. If you want to drift one it can feel somewhat harder, but you really gotta send your car sideways and fast through it to slide through it entirely. Some people say it's bad to use the 1st gear to drift a hairpin mainly because the first gear is shorter, therefore you can't go as fast, and the high rpm makes it easy to spin, but all of this comes down to the situation you're in. If you feel like you don't have enough power to make your car slide the turn, just downshift. Don't worry too much about doing heel-toe or whatever.
Overall you're doing pretty good! The only thing I can really recommend is to get a better understanding of how to trace your racing line. Watching other motorsports can help to get a better hang of it, even watching the line F1 driver's do and trying to adapt it to the touge is valid, as the drift line is nothing more but a really smoothened out grip line with a flick before the turn (if you're going takumi mode, if not just a side brake pull).
Keep practicing and you'll get better soon! 🙂

Thank you! Yes it was intentional, my success rate of doing that is just 20% because its early into the map so i still could risk it hahah yeah youre absolutely right, the tuned is very grippy. Im thinking of switching its tyres compound to street instead and lets see! Thank you for your advice and encouragement :))

Again, 60kph on 3rd is insane, low rotation due to lower rpm means you're either gonna be slow or spinning lol.

@@unlimitedquickworks7387 as i said, gear ratios can change a lot from one setup to another... I run mine very short because the top speed isn't very useful.

@@unlimitedquickworks7387 I'm not saying it like the 3rd gear tops out at 60km/h though, it's just the gear i'm usually in when I reach a hairpin turn, and it works nicely so i just do it like that.
I don't know how to word it properly but by the time I've slowed down to around 60km/h I'm still at 3rd gear, then I shift to second to do the turn, sorry if it was a bit hard to understand 🙃

learn heel and toe and close the dmg when you crash over and over again without the dmg u will eventually learn how to not crash and be fast at the same time thats how i learned atleast

I cant tell for sure since i just start too, but ive played dirt rally 2, forza 5 and nfs but nfs is arcade control ( unreal ) and dirt rally is really realistic, forza is arcady mix as well but i just do it to practice against AI and i like to customize my car and corsa feels more grippy. But i like all 3 !

Your doing good for day 16. It took me about a month to learn how to drift properly. I don't think that Akina is the best place to learn drifting as it has a lot of high speed straights and fast entries which can make it difficult to initiate a drift. I would recommend using a road with less straights that way you can learn faster. Lmk if you want any tips on drifting itself as I have a few.

thank you! yes i realized akina corners are deadly and many places are very tight, but the point of the channel itself is to progress like takumi himself where he just does akina delivery every night~ I tried doing some drift maps but that'll beat the point of driving naturally in Akina! the map will teach me :D i think the only drift tips i want right now is how to do a proper donut as somewhat my car wont do a maintain donut even if i catch the wheel :( not sure if its LUT or my steering wheel or just myself really

@@realTakumifujiwara So, one of the biggest mistakes I made when trying to drift was using the wrong tires. Idk if you have figured this out yet but you should be using the Street 90s tires as these have the least grip. When I used the '86 I spun out a lot. I learned that you have to find just the right amount of throttle and steering to maintain a drift. I would use the parking lot at the bottom of Mt Akina to learn donuts. Once you can maintain a donut you should try the 5 consecutive hairpins so you can improve you initiation. I'm considering making a video about how to drift sometime which will go more in depth.
