Great video. I loved this game on release when i played it as a freshly graduated high schooler. Looking back, its still good but deeply flawed and inferor to Bioshock 1. I wonder what it would have been if not for the indane development drama and all the changes that it went under. I assume youve already played it, but judging by your love for both Bioshock and Fallout, you might enjoy the Metro series. Similar setting as Fallout with the survival horror settings of Bioshock 1/2 and choices that actually effect endings.

On Fallout 4 I always assumed the Super Mutants came from the Fallout 3 ones but I guess they aren't. It may be assumed that the insitute got a hold of it the same way the Enclave has it in Fallout 2 (which seems to be a form of old world stash) but I don't think they need to be in such numbers. If they where closer to Fallout New Vegas with a few settlements where they are hostile but lead by a more unstable one & another few lead by a stable group it could've worked but nope they are just another raider group. Bethesda is shit at making raiders as they never make cool groups. Like Oblivion did with the kings, Fiends, Powder gangers, Great Khans, Vipers & Tarantula's (I think) which all seem like their own groups with an internal reason for doing what they do & not just evil folks.

I think the Enclave in Fallout 3 would've been better if you had the option to join Autumn & then they had a few missions fleshing out what he wants to do with the Enclave & make them clearly not evil but a different opinion. Like his ideology isn't kill all mutants. Its seems to be win the good faith of the people of the wasteland to allow the US government to be re-established. But they don't develop this more than a few lines that kinda makes you think that's his view maybe but he could equally want to just profit off the pure water. Basically the Brother hood where far more developed but since the other faction isn't you basically are left not knowing what the hell the Enclave wanted. Also on the BOS the reason the Outcasts are so under developed is part of the running theme in Bethesda games & the Fallout games as a whole they ran out of time & thus couldn't finish it so its got a bunch of cut quests & all. I am going to assume something similar happened with the Enclave which they later tried to fix in the DLC but they still failed to fully develop them due to the fact that well they ended up running out of time & its sad because they always have such great ideas that are cut. Fallout 1 had all the gangs & stuff, fallout 2 had a bunch of locations & all, Fallout 3 basically lost all its final act of its story & Fallout New Vegas lost its full scope. Finally the Van Burran never got finished leaving us with a bunch of intresting stuff that never was but modders usually find a way to fix this & with AI voices now sounding just like characters from the games they could likely fix these older games' stories.

You forgot about a few things about the fallout 4 brotherhood theyre also xenophobic towards ghouls just because theyre abomination even towards non feral ghouls they literally kill acadia for housing ghouls and if you haven’t completed far harbors story yet and sent kasumi home they also kill her snd shes proven to be human and not a synth they kill off the railroad because they help escaped synth they steal crops from settlements and you even take control of the settlement which is basically slavery atleast for the midwest brotherhood of steel it makes sense for them to give resource for the midwest brotherhood of steel because in return they get protection and in nuka workd even though theres raiders whoes enslaving people and stealing from people and are a potential threat they ignore that because they dont have a dangerous technology named toaster

Im so sick of the BOS and being forced to work with them, there was a time when i appreciated them as a faction, but by this point they've completely the fallout universe is so over saturated with they're presence its kust so annoying and nauseating

The reality is that the shows entire reason for existing is to invalidate the lore of the west coast because Bethesda is so butthurt that their lore isn't better. It's just blatant jealously. For me, personally, fallout died after New Vegas. I can accept FO3 but FO4 just killed it for me. FO4s own internal lore is broken at a fundamental level. The idea of the synths being sentient is invalidated within the same game by the covenant questline. Then add in all the unnecessary retcons and dear gawd i hate the dlc. Nuka world is a joke and i to this day will never understand why people though Far Harbor was compelling. Its just cosco brand point lookout with a lame synths plot slapped onto it. FO76 is just icing on the cake. It invalidates everything that came before it and it actually got worse after they added the npcs. I really tried to like fo4 and even 76, but i just can't. The truth for me is simple anything after New Vegas is just really bad corpo fan-fic at best. Im out.

Sorry this comment became longer than I meant for it too lol. Just had a lot to say. Thank you! I agree so much. But I will say the BoS on the east coast makes a slight bit of sense due to the loosely canon aspects of Tactics. Also, if I remember correctly Raven Rock was mentioned in 2 somewhere as being tied to the Enclave, so that does make the Enclave’s presence make sense as well but they were most definitely poorly handled and were very bland. The BoS on the East Coast shares some aspects of the BoS from Tactics, specifically them actually trying to help the people of the wasteland… but unlike the midwestern BoS they have developed the racism toward Mutants and Ghouls as the midwestern BoS had(may not be currently canon) ghouls and Mutant members. I will say I like the development of the BoS becoming a fascist authoritarian militant group. But I definitely don’t think they should have had the large presence they have in 4. The 4 factions are all so poorly written and developed. There is a ton of potential for each of them, but it’s completely wasted. I’ve gotten attacked online for saying the say thing you did about the mutants being just raiders. I have mixed feelings on the BoS in 76. I think it’s a major reach to include them, but with one of the chooses you can make with them has the potential for them to become something very different than BoS throughout the series as a whole. The Enclave makes sense in 76, especially since they don’t have a huge active presence. The small presence they have in 76 is limited to a singular AI that actually killed off all the human members sometime in the past because of the hints toward planning genocide. So again this bit of the Enclave has potential to become something else. Also, to note the Enclave existed before the war. So it makes sense they would make several different cells to ride out the war. Don’t get me started on the NCR’s treatment in the show, it’s just more of Todd Howard’s hate for NV and hate for any possible development of stable societies in the Fallout franchise. Also, Todd’s stupid comment of how it doesn’t invalidate NV was him trying to save face because he made his pity envious childish tantrum around NV to obvious.

One thing you forget is FO3 was made when it was just recently acquired by Bethesda from Interplay. They had to play safe and break even in sales or risk changing stuff and lose alot from both sales and the IP acquisition. What you were talking about regarding new factions and stuff were introduced in FO4 albeit to lukewarm to cold reception.

with 6 games all taking place at the coasts, what fallout needs is a game that takes place in the midwest away from the coasts, with how little we hear of that region in game it has major potential to go beyond what fallout currently is, faction-wise and story-wise. correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure we hear a liitle bit about chicago in fallout 4 so i hope thats where the next game takes place.

Man, I don't see a future for this series...Bethesda and other studios don't have good writers like those that worked in previous games (FO1, FO2, FNV). I really wanted to visit the West or Midwest again and relive the experience from these good old games. Get a well written story, improved gameplay, etc. But that's an era long gone...we're on the dark age.
