DMAX SQUAREBODY PART 9!!!
Little lacking as far as content goes with this one. However, this is what I had left for video, and itll be a little while before I can work on the truck again. I should be putting another video out around April (wont be able to work on the truck until then) or so if all goes to plan. I appreciate that everyone still comes back to check in on the project even when it sometimes takes a year for me to get a video out lol.

At last, the long awaited part 2 of the duramax build. Guess what though? I already have part 3 finished and part 4 is nearly complete as well. Even though this video and the next video wont show it, I am very close to having the cab and front fenders of the square actually attached to the dmax frame. That will be shown in part 4! You will have to stick around because I will be uploading about ...

Before you say anything, realize I am not a professional welder, fabricator, designer, mechanic, or anything of those sorts. I simply do this for the fun of it because I love modding anything I can get my hands on, in ways that allow me to do it on my own without buying other people's products if possible! Any comments will be appreciated, even if its to tell me I suck at doing this lol. I put ...
The Big Block Square Gets Its Lift Kit and Brake Lines
Переглядів 6715 років тому
I finished the brake lines and the lift kit on the square unfortunately the truck took hard turn towards being unable to drive it as it broke down on me on the first drive.... Still trying to figure it out, I have got it running once again but not very well at all yet.

After installing all of these things the miata is nearing the end point of where I wanted it to be for a daily driver. It currently is sitting a lot lower than in the video, and I have scraping issues everywhere, but it is just how I wanted it now lol. This weekend I should be finishing up the truck lift as well so that video will be up here in the next week or so hopefully!!!

SNOWBIKES ON WATER!!! (YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS)
I need more i am planning to do the same kind of build with an 85chevy crew cab and a 2009duramax crew cab this spring and am fully vested in this project you've got, great work by the way. Please keep making these videos.
One year up brah
tire size of the gray miata?
Did you do ep 10😊
Tempurature is supposed to be 200f What did you do?
For anybody doubting this mod look up MX5/Miata Autoexe short ram intake, hands down the best intake on the market.
Cool shit
I know how to fix your wiper issue they make kits that are called cable driven windshield wiper kit
If you do one side you need to the other side where the pcv valve comes out or you are pulling unmetered air, through the engine. So it will run really lean
What does this mean? Not like in a mean way, I’m considering doing this is it dumb?
Looks great I have like a little box where the your intake is located did you have to delete that ?
Just binged the build so far. Great work, cant wait to see the next one!
makes sense to me. lighter, simpler, and further from the hot side. dyno before and after would be nice but the dyno time would cost more than that intake.
How long did it take to get the steering arm off?
I think you are supposed to do a pcv delete when you add a breather to the crankcase, otherwise your oil deteriorates quickly and you get lifter tick.
NB 1.8’s have different valve/lifter setups than the NA. they can get lifter tick but it’s extremely less likely. the NB 1.8 fixes a lot of the NA 1.8 problems
Well I just found this series in my suggestions last night and I binge watched from beginning to end. I'm glad I didn't find this three years ago, the suspense would have been terrible. Waiting for the next one. Looking good.
You are the first I've seen make the bed a little longer instead of making the frame shorter. Works for me.
One of the problems with the old truck is that these were,to my understanding, not factory 4 door, they were all aftermarket, two cabs combined.
Hola Dende consigo la parte 10
Todavía no lo ha puesto en UA-cam. También lo estoy esperando.
It’s definitely coming along quite nicely!!! I definitely can’t weight to see it all done for sure and some paint and body work done on it!!! I also have 7 or 8 square body style trucks and they are all the 1TON 4x4!!! Some are the SRW and some are the DRW!! All mine are the 1981 and newer style body style except one is a 1980 the same body style that your truck is!!! I’m actually looking for a 8’ box off of a 1981 and newer style trucks with the dual gas doors on it??? If you no of one in good shape and not rusted out please let me no!! I really messed up and didn’t buy a 2wd one that was the same year as mine is witch is a 1981 Chevy 1Ton 4x4 and the body on the 2wd was in awesome shape and I could have used the box and the two good doors on off that truck for mine!!! I still kick myself for not buying it at auction!! 800.00$ or even a thousand would have been a steal for sure and saved on buying new doors like I ended up doing already!! Well buddy awesome video once again buddy and remember keep up all the hard work buddy!!! Can’t weight to see more on your build!!!!
Who’s 1971 or 1972 is that??? I’m definitely a big fan of the round body style trucks that they call them!! I have had many 1967-1972 Chevy pickup trucks over the years and still have one that I have had for over 20 years now!!! I’m pretty sure that you would love it also!!! The picture of it is actually with my name on everything in the videos or on line!! The front end has definitely changed on it with all new sheet metal and a 2” hood scoop!! I definitely get tons of comments on it every time I have it out and about!!!
That’s my fathers truck. 72 k20. Really good 10 footer haha. Runs and drives amazing but it needs some more work done. Little project we’ve been working on together on and off for the last 4-5 years.
I can definitely tell you that when a project sits for so long and you can see a little progress here and there but start wondering if anything has went bad over the long time of not hearing it run a person starts to wonder if it was worth all the hard work?? But then you get it to fire off and the adrenaline is at its peak again and so excited!!! I’ve been working on my 1969 Chevy 1Ton 4x4 off and on for years now and just built a 421 sbc for it about two years ago!! After getting it all in and running again I haven’t found a set of 1”3/4” or either a set of 1”7/8” headers for it that I must have for it I just haven’t worked on it for quite some time now!!! I’m really wanting to get back on it sometime soon so that I can drive it again!! I have done so much work to it over the years that I’d definitely be so happy to drive it again!!! Awesome video buddy and remember keep up all the hard work buddy!!!!
I’d use a 2” or a 3” disc on an air tool!!! And definitely use a wet rags to help the metal from getting to much heat!! You can also use an air blower from the air compressor and blow on the metal to help keep the metal cool and from warping!!! I definitely love useing the 2” and 3” sanding discs that go onto a air tool!! You can get the air tools in a 90degree 45degree and a straight design!!! I also believe that they make a 1” or a 1”1/2” disc also!! Well hopefully that helps you out some!!!!
This project is awesome!
It’s alive!
I’m happy to see this project continue.
I watching 👍😎
I missed why cut and length the front of bed thks
The wheel base on the duramax frame is a little too long for the cab and the bed to line up. Had to lengthen the bed so that the tires would line up in the wheel wells, and so that there wouldn’t be a big gap between the bed and the cab.
@@SNOFLOFilms thks
Did you finish this or just give up?
I’m way farther along, but not finished. I’ll never quit on it, I’m just still a full time student just trying to make ends meet financially. It’s too the point now that I have to spend quite a bit to finish it and I can’t quite yet. I’m going to try and upload the rest of the videos I have for it this week if I have the time.
Where’s episode 7
Hey dude, this little air filter you have install in the motor..where does it helps?
I doubt there are any performance gains, it’s more of an aesthetic mod. It also allows you you hear the intake noise from the motor.
Any more videos
Yessir, they’re coming. I just need to get them posted
@@SNOFLOFilms great look unbelievable good
Just sub looks like going to be a great build
Hey man when are you adding more videos on your build?
Any update?/has anyone done this and noticed adverse effects to the car and engine?
👍♥️
What a ton of work for little gain it’s great work but this for someone that doesn’t have the money to do it the right way and it still use the squarebody frame and use precision fabrication plus custom one off parts I understand his shit is really expensive and can easily have 35k in parts to bolt it all his stuff together plus the duramax power train donor motor but great job tho it’s just a ton of work just to add more weight to the truck and don’t use lmc truck it’s junk shit use auto metal direct great fitment
I’m currently around 6k into it total. And it’s finished other than bodywork/paint, and the front end needs work. It’s not about money or performance gain to me, it’s entirely about building a truck that is one off and something I can say I did on my own. And I’ve heard that about lmc truck. If I remember correctly I think they were the only ones that were in stock for the exact pieces I wanted, or something like that. I didn’t want to order from them, but they ended up working out pretty good.
As someone who just upgraded their radiator that blew up this is an awesome temporary solution until you find something more solid.
How did the wiring work out?
How I did the wiring is shown in the video I believe. Worked perfectly fine for the next 2 years I owned the car.
I'm getting a little stressed out ordered a rough country 4" lift for my Rubicon 2014 I had a terrific's 2" in With 35" iron man's On pro comp rims I like it it's nice but I decided on the foreign rough countryThey sent me my Box of shocks 1st.... I wish the brackets were to came 1st so I can get it jacked up and be ready to drop Springs and shocks In. But the Springs are also in the other Box Don't know why they can't put it all-in-one Box no Box especially when you're on a time thing and we're supposed to be headed to the white mountains of New Hampshire in 3 days to rock crawl I find your video very informative The other Box is supposed to show up todayHopefully I can boogie and get this thing done before Saturday. With you guiding me through the steps I've installed a lot of lifts on my vehicles almost everyone my oh is my 06 Cummings As a 6" with a 150 shot injectors edge power tuner And cold air intake But the price of diesel right now I really don't wanna rock crawl with that thank you brother For helping out with info on how to get things done sincerely sincerely the Baker family in Maine
Anxiously awaiting part 7, I started the exact same project as you after rolling my 2003 lb7 duramax, we had the exact same interior package. It’s funny because we both started the same way I wished I had found your videos sooner. I’m waiting till pay day to go pick up the new cab, I have my floor and firewall cut and prepped, only difference is I’m dropping a flat bed on mine. Would love to chat about the dash in the square cab if you’ve done it yet
Message me on Instagram @tanner_shany24 and I’ll try to answer yours Q’s about the dash install. I have done it, just haven’t uploaded videos. I’ve got like 3 new videos finished and just haven’t uploaded them yet 😬
That’s not a 2005. It’s a 2007 or higher. That’s a jk body jeep. They didn’t stop making the TJs until 2006. 07 they went to that body.
Whats the reason to drill a hole in the rear track nar relocation brackets
To be completely honest, it’s been so long I don’t remember anything about putting this lift kit together. Everything I did was per the instruction manual. I think there was one thing I did that wasn’t necessary but it was up front somewhere. I remember grinding a tab off something that I didn’t need to. Other than that I just followed the book lol.
Did you have any issues with the driveshaft angles or length?
I ended up selling the truck right after I finished the lift kit due to getting the duramax project going, but in the 15 miles or so I put on it I didn’t have any issues. iirc I did some research on it and found that it should be fine with that size of lift. Not 100% on that though.
When you making the next videos we have started building one curious on progresss man sick work
To me the long boxes on the o square bodies look better. All of the square body crew cabs originally had the long fleetside boxes on them.
That square body GMC is either a 75 or 76 year model because of the grille.
Those square body crew cab pickups are very rare nowadays, but the regular cab ones on the other hand I still see on the roads sometimes.
You said you want to add two inches to the bed. I wish I would have added to the cab... like a mega cab. I know that is a stupid amount of work, but the knee space for back seat passengers is really small. I shortened my frame 4". I wish I would have left the frame and added to the cab... I want to kick myself.
I know I didn’t want to change the frame because in case of a wreck, I want to be able to throw a cat eye body back in the frame really easy. However, I battled with the bed vs cab idea. It basically boiled down to me being capable of doing the job, and I figured the bed would be easier lol.
@@SNOFLOFilms . True. The cab would be a nightmare, but I want to do it one day.
@@ReshardsAutomotiveWorkshop ua-cam.com/video/PEQvhW_pRPY/v-deo.html look at this truck, that’s exactly what he did. I started my truck when this guy was like half way through his. Super cool guy.
