Canon R5 Mark II - 2 years of wait, WAS IT WORTH IT?
I never thought that after I sold my Canon R5 Mark I, it would take me almost 2 years to get a hand on the R5 Mark ii.
In this video, I am doing a quick unboxing and talk briefly why I sold the Mark I when I did and why I am getting the Mark II.

I don't think there is any other camera that is as versatile as the 907x 100C. I have been using it with XCD lenses but I have also been using it with my film bodies 503 and 205TC and it has been such a joy! In this video, I am sharing shots that I have taken with both my film bodies and also a brief example of a rolling shutter ( it doesn't have ). As some were concerned about the possible lag...

I never had the chance to try a Hasselblad Xpan, but I noticed that my 907x 100C has a Xpan crop mode. Wow. That's a really good one. Can I adopt some of your designs in my projects? As I can see, there is interchangeable lenses design. Or was it a prototype one? Anyway, that is really cool and compact as well camera. Peace
Definitely, feel free to do so! Yes it does support different lenses, you will need to adjust the lens holder according to the flange distance of the lens you want to use.
Thank you very much for the video I was looking for a hug
I am glad it helped!
What is the matte screen you use?
The one on the video I believe is the hasselblad plain with crosshair) But since this video, I replaced it with one made by brightscreen ( after researching seems to be the best alternative to the hasselblad OEM ones) . Mine in particular is the brightscreen MP Grid pattern 6 609. P.S: big fan of your work!
@@threeamigoshk Thank you :-)
Do you think that the pixel dead is another hidden issue especially for CCD sensor too ?
I haven’t heard of that issue yet and don’t seem to have heard of it online. Is that something you hear commonly ?
@@threeamigoshk it is the characteristic of ccd sensor anyway =).
do you think the dead pixel would be an issue even on ID53 sensor ?
Thanks! How do you find the camera? Did you own the r5 previously ?
Hey there,. I did have the r5 and I think mark II on the video side is definitely a step up. For me the R5 was a great hybrid camera, with this new generation Canon further improved on that. Photography the electronic shutter being 14 bjt is great and the AF... is insanely good (I had 100-500 RF lens and took a shot of a bee @ 500mm 😂 didn't expect to be in focus.. yet it was ... Lastly loving the Clog2. I should have a first impression videos coming out tonight!
Thank You !!
I am glad it helped!
I just acquired an M6 classic in silver chrome in pristine condition, almost unused from Japan 🇯🇵 It’s an iconic film 🎞️ camera in 35mm 🎉 I was told it’s equivalent to the R6 and R6.2 SLR cameras in R-series.
咁即係你鐘意邊部多啲?😂
My q3 didn’t come with the usbc cable. 🧐
Really? Not in any of the pouches?
will this plug fit my r6 mark ii?
I don't think it would completely lock in place, as the r5 mk ii hotshor has a "tiny" hole to allow the lock mechanism
I thought I was going crazy. Thank you so much for this
my pleasure! I happy it can help others! I spent at least 10mins wondering what I was doing wrong 😂
i read in sraw 4k60p is downsampled
Currently testing it, somehow not sure if i am seeing this but 4k60p sraw is considerably sharper than 4k60 raw , currently researching why this might be. I actually like the 4k60p sraw somehow 😅
@@threeamigoshk randomly deciding what to downsample and lineskip. check standard neutral profile no log.
thats the thing at standard no log, it looks muddy to me compared to 4k sraw.. which is making me scratch my head, my understanding is like yours that 4k sraw is downsampled /lineskip but if you didn't tell me which one is which.. i would say the 4k sraw looks oversampled to me! which is crazy.. I will share a short tonight to show this, will let you know once is up
@@truthseeker6804 ua-cam.com/users/shortsee4FnBUbDeU just posted a short on this. You can see the Sraw is sharper than 4k 60 standard neutral profile but has some moire (standard profile looks okay but a bit muddy from what i can see) while 4k fine (being oversampled) has a better sharpness and quality.
thank you!! this video helped!! scratched my head for a while!! Key trick is to use your point fingernail to simply pull that key alone backwards (not trying to slide the whole cover)
Glad it helped! I was scratching my head for a while on this 😂
This does NOT work for all of the cameras delivered so far. This is why the manual mentions pushing on the cover (with another finger) at the same time. The metal plate under the button is too stiff, or the plastic nub is too long. Overall, it is not a good design and it is easy to lose the cover after it has been removed.
@michaels3003 i am not sure if it doesn't work on all cameras but from the overall comments you can see it does help some folks. if you check the bottom plate you can see if you pull back rather than pressing the plastic "hook" gets lifted up and as you pull back with the nail it helps to get the plate off without pressng thr silicone on the body ( which creates friction and makes it harder to slide off) Based on this you can still press and use another hand to remove, but just make sure when you press the button, you are not also pressing the silicone against the body
@@threeamigoshk , I took it off at least a dozen times (probably more) by pressing the cover towards me, then pressing that stiff button with another finger. This worked in all the attempts, but the process was not comfortable. There are a lot of comments on YT claiming that it is impossible to take the cover off without a lot of effort. I even saw somebody using two hands...
@michaels3003 yeah for me just using the nail to drag it seems to work for mine.. That said with the current design i am not sure how long that little plastic is going to last 😅 why cant they just use magnets...
Bloke on the left in the black shirt so negative of the q2 😡😡
It is just banter as the bloke on the right owns a Q2 and I own a Q3 :) in fact I highlighted that AF on Q2 at certain instances seems to do better than Q3 ! Both are great cameras there is no doubt about that
❤
Is the 4k 60 line skipped?
Unfortunately it is, which is an odd one.. it can do 8k 60 but 4k 60 it cant. 😅? I
@@threeamigoshk lol. Typical Canon move. Still a great camera though.
Definitely is lol.. I do wonder how much it affects to be honest, I will test the 4k 60 and let you know, maybe is not noticeable and it wont matter ( thats all i can hope 😅)
Yes it was worth it for me to buy this camera
I couldn't agree more. Did you also had the Mark I ?
@@threeamigoshk Yes i do and I also have the Canon R their first edition into the mirrorless pond. I have shot some baby pictures and man the colors pop and very crisp...I'm perfectly happy with this camera
Canon color science, doesn't disappoint for sure! I am hoping to do some wildlife and portraits in the coming days to get a good grip on the features of this camera 😁
I have been working with the Hasselblad X-Pan (45 and 90 mm lenses) for several year. In the film days, it was a great and unique experience ... and I now use the 907x 100c with XCD 25mm f/2.5 in X-Pan mode. The latter option if far better in all respects.
This is great to hear! With the 25v in Xpan mode it must be amazing, specially how well the 25v handles distortions!
great camera indeed mine is paired with the summicron 28. How do you like the BW tones compared to film?
There’s definitely more tonalities in the digital file whereas film to me just appears more organic and natural … but whether or not it translates to a better image is very personal :)
Thank you and very useful. I have an M10M, which has also frozen in the past. I find the files out of camera a bit flat, and I like to add an Orange filter.
Haven’t tried that yet but will definitely look to do so soon. My issue is having to purchase so many orange filters 😅😅😅
😍😍😍
for average users, the Q3 is a superior camera
Voightlander 28mm F2 and 50mm F1.2 are my two on a M246.
It's the Native Union Drop XL. Costs you 50 bucks. You're welcome
I want to buy that camera just for the xpan mode.
I believe x2d also has xpan mode but shooting with the 907x is just so nostalgic 🤩
Just bought mine a few hours ago😂😂😂😂😂
Great! Let us know how you find it!
I’ll be singing the EXACT same song as you today when I pick up my silver Noctilux 50mm 0.95 and attaching it to my Nikon Z9 😂😂😂😂😂
Just use an app for lightmeter, anyway once you´re experienced probably you´ll just figure out the settings in your mind by looking at the light available.
Watched some of your videos, you guys are like the Thorsten Overtard or Matt Osborn of Hong Kong! Keep up the good work!
thats quite a compliment! Really thankful for the kind words!
My favourite black and white film is XP2. It's fine grain, a good speed and it's a C41 process.
Thank you. Even as just an 'object', this camera is very nice.
Very much so!
I also have a 50mm Summilux pre-aspherical(manufactured 1981), and have had my M9 since Feb of 2015, still love it. I do like the vibe the 50 gives and the bokeh as you mentioned. The lens can still be sharp when not wide open. I also got a 35mm asph non-fle a couple years ago. Amazing lens. The 50mm is odd in that it’s a long throw with no focus tab so definitely slower to shoot with than the 35. I do have an M3 I use the 50 on. That lens is awesome with film!
Awesome photo walk guys! You took some great photos ❤
Thanks so much!
this is the stupidest video ive ever seen
And with Tesla coils charger ? The one with the big base do you think it will work ?
If i am not mistaken Tesla one has 30 coils 😦 which should definitely have a greater covrrage than most pads!
@@threeamigoshk maybe with that 😨
Me thinking that I'm the only person who can't afford a leica😭😭
It's hard to imagine why Leica released the M11 without image stabilization and with that magenta color-cast.
I find the Q3 has much better colors than the M11, similar to the colors on the M10-R. I also find that the M11 is softer than the Q3.
Damn, enough to make a grown man cry
right?! Luckily Canon did their magic and ressurected it 😁
This was very helpful. Thanks!
My dad was in the USN back in the day. Wouldn't it be great if Light Lens Lab was loaned an Elcan 66/2 lens for reproducing a LLL version for us Leica plebs. I'd buy one in a snap for my M10-R & M. Keep up the good work you Three Amigos!
I am a Leica-holic. I have at least 30, plus numerous lenses. It's a disease, but one with interest, enjoyment, satisfaction and, like it or not, investment value (other than a few digital ones).
Well said!
YO amigos! Never heard of a 66mm lol looks dope though! Hey BTW! Please don't cancel me if you run across the short I posted today. It is titled "RACIST Film Photographer Exposed" Just out here hustling views with some clickbait lol
Thats a great title though made me click on it 😂
Very interesting, as always. Exotic lenses. Such temptation !
For collectors this is probably a top pick for sure!
@threeamigoshk Definitely. Extremely nice.
