The PS5 Pro: Why Are We All Mad?
For the last few weeks I’ve felt like the odd one out. Everyone else online seems annoyed by the PS5 Pro, but I don’t think it’s such a terrible deal. Maybe I’ve been desensitised by overly expensive GPUs, or maybe I’m just plain wrong. In any case, here’s my thoughts on why I think the PS5 Pro isn’t as bad as everyone is making out!

It’s long been a topic of conversation: is 8GB enough for gaming in 2024? To find out we’ll be testing the RTX 3070 at 1440p in a range of modern titles. I’ve not tested 4K as I’m not convinced 8GB cards are suitable for 4K gaming, and if it works at 1440p, it’ll be good at 1080p also. We’ll be testing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer and Warzone, Forza Horizon 5, Diablo 4, Halo Infin...

Переглядів 7185 місяців тому
AMD has released FSR 3.1 which now allows us to decouple FSR upscaling from FSR frame generation, this means you can now run your games with DLSS or XESS upscaling, and then add on FSR frame generation on top for extra performance, BUT…is it worth it? Are there any trade offs? We’ll be testing with Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, which has been updated to support AMD FSR 3.1, we’ll be running te...

I do believe that deep dips in lows are affected by older gen cpu and slower memory in online games. This woud be a completely different with 9700x and some ddr5 6000mhz cl30 ram.
can you test 5 5600x with rx 7700 xt next time on 1080p
Cod is trash to test any 4k game. Cause cod textures arent hand laid to look good its trash naturally
People still dont understand that ultra settings are designed for future pcs
If you are using a 5800 that is why you are getting stutters, the 5800 is passable for 1440p, otherwise you have a 9% bottleneck in 4k which is not great. I experienced the same thing when I tried to play insurgency sandstorm on my 2080ti with an 11% bottleneck from my older cpu, it’s likely the case with you if you are using a 5800
I prefer the combo with low electric consumption, low risk on both GPU and CPU, low risk high performance or stable, for me im happy with r7 5700x with rtx3050 with the games i wanna play, FPS drops when your CPU and GPU is overheating
5600x low temp means low wattage consumption on electric bills, low risk on CPU and GPU usage, safe to use, will definitely make you happy and not wastinh money on both bills and gpu, great combo, no bottlenecking, 60fps and up will make me happy with the games i want to play😊
People saying "it's a waste at 1440p hurr durr" are the same people who buy a PC to play at 60fps. High refresh monitors have been a thing for a very long time and aren't even expensive anymore. Pair that with adaptive sync and you have a fantastic gaming experience compared to a low end build or a console which targets 60fps at the best of times. Native res, high refresh is awesome. I can't stand upscaling, TAA can piss off too honestly I hate it and hope it goes away soon.
I just ordered a 4080S today. I know it might not be the best decision ever but I wanted something to gift myself. Hopefully it is going to be worth it 😂
Enjoy it!
I was playing horizon zero dawn remastered and horizon forbidden west and was getting 100-120 fps 4k max settings with my 4080 super
looks like cpu bottlenech
I have it for low power 😂
For me, it does great on ultrawide. Ultra + RT/PT is all playable native for the most part. In the event it gets low/sub 30 fps, DLSS can help and FG adds a bunch. 5900X 64GB DDR4 3200 4080 Super + 2070 Games installed on a SSD raid0 or NVME if raid causes issues
I'm able to get consistently over 60 FPS which I consider 4K cable on my 4080 super. I don't get those large stutters and my specs, which are essentially the exact same as yours.
GPU wont be overkill for a resolution until you can run the game at Maximum path-traced settings, native resolution, and I would like to say at the highest available refresh rate, but in reality its until you're CPU limited in that scenario.
If I'm not seeing the difference IN GAME PLAY then it doesn't really matter. Anyone who says it does is a numbers snob.
Love my 5600X3D. Works great with my RX6800. Hope to upgrade to the 7900XT after Christmas. Thanks for sharing. Shows that there is still a lot of life left in my AM4 system before I need to upgrade. Best gaming PC decision I ever made. (2018)
Well if this card is not a 4K card what is there left apart from 4090? Which is going to run 5% better. Another video jut made for the sake of creating content.
Let's be honest though, on really manic games like warzone or any shooter or even racing games 1440p is all you need. I don't think your brain can appreciate 4k unless your playing something slow paced and visually stunning.
Competitive multiplayer- high fps 1440p Single player immersion- 4k ultra
just to say, found this now, never test new bought cpu in 1440p test, after 1080p your gpu will do more job than cpu,so 1080p is a real thing to show u difference.
Since it cant reach 60+fps on native and max settings i would say no.
4090 is only 30% faster so seems there are no 4k gpus for this guy until the 5090.
Im gonna be using a 4090 for 1440p soon enough someday i will buy a 4k 120 monitor one day
Huge improvements at -30 for my 5800x3d. I get on average 10+ degrees less and 10-20 less watts of power usage. Originally my 5800x3d was peaking at aound 80c in a game like cyberpunk 2077, but now it just hovers around 70c, watts peaked at 105, and now it peaks at 95. I'm seeing a lot less down clocking too, because of the temps.
Guess I will wait for the 5080 to come out. I mean £1000 for 60+ fps path tracing? thats not really cost effective :D
I love my 5600x, the temps are also together, at least in GrayZoneWarfare
You’re cpu limited in a lot of cases. With this card you need a 7800x3d or 7600x3d maybe a 9700x. Especially at 4k you shouldn’t even be hitting 50% regularly. Your 5800x3d is hitting 80+ watts to 100 wattts. The reason your game felt so much smoother despite your gpu always being at 98%+. You can also tell when you’re being cpu bottlenecked when your average and 1% fps are within 20-30%.
I'm sure my 5600x is not going to bottleneck my 4060 rtx :)
So the takeaway message is that more ram keeps your FPS more stable with no massive dips for the most part?
Love my 5600X3D. Gave my AM4 platform another 4 or more years of service.
Hi I want to buy Asus g16 Rtx 4070, I7 13650HX and 16Gb ram. is this config OK for ultra in 1080p or I should look for 32Gb ram
are the fps going to have the same impact with rtx 4070 or rx 7700 xt or 7800xt?
The fact that the 5800X3D costs 400$ more than the 5600X tell you everything you need to know.
look 5700x3d this is 1:1 5800x3d I have both of these processors and the difference is only visible in benchmarks, when playing normally you won't be able to tell the difference
@@mateomatik5390 really? so I can upgrade from a 5600X to a 5700X3D and see a huge jump in performance?
but this is with ddr4
I have ryzen 5 5600 +rx6600 should i upgrade to ryzen 7 5800x or 5800x3d i am streaming and editing also but not so heavy
The 4090 doesn’t really do high intensity games at 4k too well, so the 4080 definitely is not.
4080 super or 4070 ti super?
I'm a bit surprised because I'm not sure many people even expected this to me a solid 4K card.
great video thank you!
I just bought this card for my new 1440p oled 240hz
I have the 5600x, with a 4060. There's no way I'm paying 200£ (Sweden) for 15+ fps with DLSS (probably not even 15 fps since I have a 4060). It's better to put those money into the next GPU I'm buying. Hopefully the 5060, if Nvidia actually put some VRAM into it.
Somehow I paired it with my 3900xt😁
is 5600 enough for an RTX 4060?
5600x will bottleneck a rtx 3070 up to 1440p but 4k its no longer bottleneck and it also depends on the game. that why its better to spend most of your money on the cpu then the gpu.
16gb ddr5 rtx 2080ti enough for gaming
crazy i have 5600x and 4070s and see nowhere near the frames you are getting on cs2 here at 1080p, yet to test 1440. game can also be choppy and stuttery at times.
Its sad that it really is no longer worth upgrading this path. Cpu is in the 400-500 price for a used chip. Looks like ill be trying to buy a 5700x3d before they cut it from the lineup.
The rule of thumb is, the lower the resolution you play at, while chasing high fps, the more a CPU will bottleneck a GPU. If you're a 1080p gamer and want super high fps like 240 or something depending on your monitor, then you'll notice a big difference with upgrading your CPU if you already have a mid to high end GPU like a 4070 at least. If you're gaming at 2K resolution and aim for lower fps like 150-ish, then you'll notice some improvement when upgrading a CPU. If you're gaming on 4K like me, and your aim at single player games is "as long as it feels perfectly smooth I'm happy", which is anything above 70-80 stable fps, and in multiplayer games you're aiming at 144fps for a 144hz refresh rate, then you really won't feel much difference in CPU upgrades, as long as your CPU is not really horrible. At 4K, you're GPU bound, and a CPU bottleneck as such stops existing. There's literally a couple of fps between a R5 5500 and a 5700X3D, I know because I made that jump. The only significant boost was not in average or peak fps, but in lowest 1% fps, basically the occasional (very, very rare) micro-stutter in some games doesn't happen anymore. Point being, don't spend money on a more expensive MBO and CPU, buy a more expensive GPU.
i have ultrawide monitor 165Hz do i need that?
I'd use it as a 1440p 144fps card
