Working on a buy-side pitchbook for another client
Finishing a complex merger model for a third deal
Sifting through annual reports, press releases, and industry reports for PIB research
Crunching numbers in Excel and crafting an engaging narrative in PowerPoint
Finalizing and printing the PIB for review
Creating detailed graphs and tables for the buy-side pitchbook
Investigating the investment company owning 40% of the target
Updating a financial model for another client with the latest market data and assumptions
Attending a meeting with the associate, VP, and managing director to discuss the pitchbook
Incorporating changes and feedback into the pitchbook
Completing a training module on advanced financial modeling techniques
Error-checking, formatting, and running sensitivity analysis on the merger model
Creating informative charts and tables for the merger model
Fixing minor issues in the model as per the associate's feedback
Strategizing and preparing for the next day's tasks, including valuation analysis, updating another financial model, and researching potential targets for another pitchbook

I used the Kaplan Schweser materials for level 1 and passed first try. So I tried them again for level 2 and they totally let me down. Will not make that mistake again and will stick to the actual CFA manual as you suggest.

From my earliest years until I turned 18, I grappled with self-doubt and academic challenges. Despite my best efforts, subjects like math, English, and physics remained elusive to me throughout my school years. Yet, amidst these struggles, a greater trial awaited: from ages 10 to 17, I underwent the taxing ordeal of dialysis. However, within the depths of adversity, I nurtured a flicker of hope and ambition. At 17, a life-changing kidney transplant marked a turning point in my journey, infusing me with renewed determination and a sense of purpose. But the road to success was far from smooth. In the corridors of academia, I encountered the hurtful words of bullies and the isolating silence of indifference. Yet, I refused to be defined by my setbacks. Instead, I transformed them into stepping stones, each hurdle propelling me closer to my dreams. Today, as I reflect on the trials I've overcome, I am filled with gratitude for the resilience that sustained me. With unwavering support from loved ones, I navigated the darkest of nights, emerging stronger and more determined than ever. My journey, though marked by challenges, is a testament to the power of perseverance and the resilience of the human spirit. And as I set my sights on a career in finance, particularly in pursuing my dream of becoming a CFA, I do so with a heart full of hope and a steadfast belief in the boundless possibilities that lie ahead.

The CFA Program will help you understand the theories behind how different financial assets are valued based on fundamentals. I'd say level one covers everything you'd find in an undergraduate finance degree, level 2 is like a masters in finance, and level 3 is about wealth management / asset allocation / financial planning. It's a structured program to learn about all kinds of investments. It should help with trading, but if you're looking at a specific career path, I'd ask people in those roles if they personally think it's worth the work. The program does take a lot of time and mental energy.

I've never gotten such low score on any mock I've done from previous levels. Im finding myself completely lost on how to answer the short answer questions. I don't know what to do anymore. I've really lost motivation. The short answers questions are really tricky. I find myself only able to solve and review on avg. 20 questions a day. Those are mixed short answer and essay. I dont have time anymore and I'm really panicking. Please give me tips and advise on what to do.

For the sections you had the toughest time with last time, a full review of the material could help. For sections you know really well, I'd focus on problems to keep your knowledge fresh. If you run into problems you aren't as familiar with, review the material from that section. It's an iterative process based on where you're at personally with each topic. Good luck!
