As an introvert I would choose accounting. It is easier to me work on my own and work with fact based data rather than make decisions. Without overthinking. Do your calculations, report them and have a rest. Yeah, thats for me. Thank you for really helpful video
@MarkMeldrum has great youtube videos for learning level 1 concepts. But make sure to come back to the practice problems from the actual CFA curriculum for review. In my opinion, working through as many practice questions and mock exams as possible is more important than picking any specific prep provider or course.
FP&A is more of a finance job, but some roles will include accounting type work. People with an accounting background can be good candidates for FP&A roles because they understand how revenue and expenses flow into the financial statements. CPA can help but generally is not required.
"Accounting majors can work finance jobs but finance majors can't work accounting jobs." I can't help but disagree strongly with this statement. It's more than possible to work in accounting with a finance degree. And by the same extent go for a CPA. You need the upper division accounting credits accounting major or no so..... Yeah.
Thanks for your perspective Matt. My message was that it’s “easier” to move from accounting to finance than the other way around. Not that finance students can’t do accounting roles. This could vary by person and certainly many finance students do end up working in accounting roles, I agree.
@@JoeMauleHey would it better for me to get an associates and major in finance with accounting minor or associates in accounting with an accounting major and finance minor?
Which do you prefer, finance or accounting?

Very well explained. I wish someone could have explained this before I decided to pursue accounting.
I am working in Commercial banking as a Trade finance transactions processing associate. What should I do next to improve my career. I have done bcom.
Also, will an MBA help me in this career or other domains
Which career path to choose if I hate paperwork?
Joe I’m looking to pursue the CFA. Which course would you recommend to someone who needs to learn the material from scratch

@@JoeMaule thanks. I guess I’ll just start to get going instead of picking the “perfect program”
is FP&A an accounting or Finance job? For someone with an accounting/finance background who wants to get into FP&A, will a CPA be required?

Hi Joe, I would really love to have you as my mentor 😢
