Hi, I have a Beofeng, did similar 12V mod to charger. Currently doing a similar mod to Quansheng charger that has what I would call a dodgey 240Vac input to internal smps. I keep a selection tactile buttons, I got a container of various types from Ali or Bang. Good temp mod... I'm thinking of getting a base 3D printed, a copy of the charger base to use to keep them upright.
I have limited use for these nowdays, so theres less incentive to innovate now. I have looked at the Quansheng units, but they feel complicated where they dont need to be
@@TheAussieRepairGuy They have so much potential, you end up with more and more complex menus. I have two Quanshengs, both with original firmware, no inclination to upgrade and get all the different features. Most that I won't use.
Awesome tips, including the blu-tac! Thank you.👍🤠🇦🇺⁷³
Yeah I use that stuff for everything, including metal casting
@@TheAussieRepairGuy really, metal casting. Does it not melt?
@@DonzLockz surprisingly not.
Here's a 5 year old video, 14:45 you see how I use it:

I was going to ask if you were into comms. Do you do any 11 meter CB?
@@RabbiJesus I used to, and some 2 meter. I had advanced ameture licence. But let it lapse with the passing of my brother.
@@TheAussieRepairGuy throw back to the days of walkie talkies in the back yard.
@@RabbiJesus yeah we used to attach a clip lead to the antenna and attach to the fence line. 100mw goes a long way on a fence line.
