I believe it will be 2 cours, broken up into 12 episodes each. First 12 episodes should be Return of the Prince, Second 12 episodes should be Workshop Battle. I'm not sure if there will be a break in between them or not.

Eren is the symbolic representation of what will inevitably happen if you unjustly oppress people. If ou do that, an "Eren" will appear to pay you back ten fold. You can make a strong argument that Eren is justified in his actions, as evidenced by half the fan base being jaegerists. Expect others to commit atrocities to defend their people. Dont give them a reason too.

It's not necessarily that Askeladd was always toying with him (although he definitely was early on), it's that he always successfully angered Thorfinn. In a healthier condition, and without anger clouding his mind (eg. how he fought against Thorkell) Thorfinn would have a good chance against Askeladd.

He's qualified for the very same reason Santi wants to eliminate him. All because of the joke Ye Wenjie shared with him. Santi didn't get the context of the joke neither did he but they know that something important might have been conveyed which Saul might be able to figure out in future... That is the reason they consider him to be dangerous!! Till this point everything is assumption for everyone until Season 2. It is going to be even more insane... 😁😁

00:43 The vow to renounce war is the oath of peace that the first King of Paradise swore and imposed upon his descendants. It was the will to repent for the sins of Eldia and geld the Founding Titan in his lineage by preventing future generations from initiating the rumbling or actively defending the Walls from outside threats. It was suggested by Tom Ksaver that this likely only applied to those who were of royal blood, however, and that someone who was not of that lineage would be able to break away from the vow. Royal blood seems to have some sort of special effect on Titan shifters in general, as alluded to by Zeke's title of "wonder boy" and the suggestion he's been the best Beast Titan Marley has ever had. He seems to exhibit some sort of unique power which goes beyond the Beast Titan's norm~

3:49 "There is something in Askeladd, some kind of rage in him." I don't think it's that. I think he is feeling cold and in the mood to teach Thorfinn a lesson. He just had a real duel, with his only friend in the world; as a favor to have him end his life fighting; now comes this insolent kid who has been nipping at his heels for over a decade. He is done pretending that there's any honor or reason in this repeated pattern. He is in many ways disappointed in Thorfinn that he hasn't gotten it out of his system or reflected on this pattern himself. It's not rage; it's more like a stern parent (who is also mourning his friend at the same time)

I don't think it's unreasonable to suspect that the writing of Askeladd's character was written so as to largely follow the archetype of Cinderella. Both undergo similar rags-to-riches character arcs and have suspiciously similar wordplay in their names. Cinderella's name (or rather, nickname by which everyone calls her) refers directly to the cinders she was always covered in. The nickname Askeladd similarly means "ashen-lad", given also grew up poor, overworked, and covered in dirt/ash. Both characters are initially viewed as being of peasant class despite their noble lineages. They both rise from modest, ash-laden roots to figures of influence and nobility, defying their assumed lowly position in society at the beginning of their stories. Both characters-through different means-discover their concealed virtues. Their respective journeys embody the redemptive revelation of their true selves. ...or so I like to think.

This show is an examination of the human being. It distinguishes itself from most stories you will find in media because it presents a way of being that is in a modern sense illogical. Thors’s death quickly presents us with the main theme of this show. Sacrificing yourself for a higher purpose. He could not have known that Askelad would keep his promise but he still didn’t kill him because why? Why would you not ensure all threats to your son are ended? The answer is simply that Love is a more important thing than your son’s safety. In my country we have a Voievode Constantin Brâncoveanu who sacrificed all of his four sons. He was asked to renounce his faith or be killed. He refused and they started killing his sons one by one until the youngest remained and according to our records he told his son that it is better to die than to give up on Love ( God in the Christian faith) and before he was killed he prayed for his executioners. You see, I believe this to be the only way to break the cycle represented so well in attack on titan. However much we like the idea of love it is very illogical to do such a things because it requires a belief in an eventual justice at a Last Judgement say. In any case this show is a very Christian show and in order to understand it, understanding Thors or the archetypal Jesus is key. Bjorn basically told askelad that he loved him in the end. He gave him his life, his loyalty, his potential, he would have done anything for him. The tragedy of this story is that if they would have followed Thors, Askelad and Bjorn would have become followers of his teachings. But the problem is that Askelad was waiting for Artorius or a warrior. He asked Thors to lead them in battle not in love. After the battle we see Askelad being shocked when he learns that no one died and we see him contemplate Thors’s actions. He does not understand him. And you see this throughout the show. Everyone is trying to understand Thors. Askelad, Thorkell, the priest, Thorfinn but they don’t. In any case I wish everyone well and I enjoy your reactions.

I don't think it was super uncommon to bring a bastard in. Him being a position to inherit anything is very odd though. Usually they would not be officially recognised. He kills the women because she is there. No witnesses. If she screamed, he would be caught and his plan would fail.

16:20 woman woke up and saw Askeladds Face, so he killed her before she could scream for help out of the same reason he killed all the villagers. Silencing witnesses. 17:01 "How does he inherit his property through that so?" Because his father acknowledged him officially as his son. His half Brothers acknowledged him also, he was well liked and had a good standing with his father and everybody knew that. So he could expect a share of the inheritance and nobody would question that. His father putting him under his own roof wasn't just nice, it had legal ramifications.

Considering the surroundings being like a shed or barn, that wasn't Olaf's wife. Just a random women he desired and brought there, most likely. Also, the reason Askeladd just killed her is because she's a witness to the murder. Simply, no loose ends.

38:17 i dont look at that scenario as a good comp for a country. I look at marley as a symbol of "apologizing or paying for your ancestors mistakes". For instance in america black people think all white people owe them reparations for sins of our fathers...lacking complete context. They dont worry about holding slave owner families vs non slabe owning families accountable. Just think all white people are guilty and deserve to be punished. This is exactly the portrayal i believe the show is demonstrating. Its a stupid, baseless idea. The measure of a man should be defined by his own deeds and actions....not some collective demonization. This is the crux of the argument between collective rights like woke ideology vs. individual rights. Collective rights and identity politics is evil at its core and will always lead to ruin. Edit: i should note i dont mean all black ppl and plenty of others that arent black that also share the viewpoint. Dont wanna sound like im blaming black people or that its exclusive to them. Just the one example that i chose to use.

Just bc they think they are saving the world you think it’s okay to commit genocice? That’s what Marley wants, they are no better than Eren, dont forget Reiner started all of erens pain but I guess its okay now because he had a sad backstory?😂…how many people Reiner has killed and been responsible for killing because of his selfishness idk man people forget Reiner is a MASS MURDERER😂 but now that Eren fights back that’s when Reiner says “hey man i know i killed countless scores of your people but now you’re killing my people…please stop”

    • @storieswithstyle

You can see it like that, but it is really short-sighted. Also, Reiner at least tries to change for the better while Eren is one of the worst pieces of s*** that I ever witnessed in a show, though I still love his 11/10 writing. =)

@@storieswithstyle i mean…maybe??? Has he tried to change? He’s still bringing death to Elida…he still thinks Marley is right to commit genocide against an entire race which he is a part of? Is that truly selfless idk man i feel like this story is telling you that no one is good, but lets not pretend Reiner is a good person, no one really is except like falco and colt😂i just cant stand people who write eren off at this point in the story completely forgetting that Reiner is the literal cause of most of his childhood trauma. Are we supposed to forget that the beginning of season 4 is Reiner murdering people for Marley(people who want to break free of Marleys rule by the way) he has robbed lives from people fighting for freedom his entire life, but now that the racist country he works for gets attacked by eren…he decides to get Marley to attack another country that has been oppressed and violated by marley?

But Reiner clearly tries to make up for his sins and is drowned in guilt. he tries to somehow safe at least gabi from an early death and also, what I think is definitely missing in your reasoning is the age of the characters. Reiner was like 9 when he did it, not even understanding what exactly he was doing (which was still absolutely reprehensible), but Eren is grown up outwardly (though to be fair, he stayed a child inside beacuse the memories held his development down as we see in the movie). Also, Marley doe snot want to commit geno**. Where did you get that from? They are r*** as shit, but not genocidal. Hell, magath, the leader of the marleyan military even instigates seeds for a better future. The attack that is happening in this episode is mainly to root Eren out, not to wipe out Eldia. I am confused as to why so many people keep saying this when Willy clearly stated the goal was Eren and Jaegerists and not Eldia. That was the point of his theatre part, to sow those seeds as well. :) But I will talk about it more in the future, as I can not really do your poiints justice in written form as a comment. =)

@@storieswithstyle I agree with you on most of this its just a super complex story😂 and most people forget that Reiner is actually a mass murderer just because he “opposes eren” i wont make any excuses for eren except most people just throw 3 seasons worth of trauma and horror out the window the second eren does the same thing Reiner was doing on a waaay smaller scale but whatever i guess its easy to forgive someone who wants to make things right by killing more people…just like eren… its just weird to me that people will forgive Reiner so easily for mass murder on multiple countries but wont do that for eren for attacking Marley

@@storieswithstyle and again not justifying eren at all, however Reiner has the benefit of hindsight and the knowledge of the outside world his whole life while eren literally just found out the WHOLE WORLD wants his people dead…and also that civilization isn’t dead

Honestly, you SHOULD skip the opening but getting spoiled is completely unavoidable. It's going to happen either because you're too slow pausing or while scrubbing looking for the number. Just know if you do, it just means you get to experience it just like everyone else does.

On the topic of mixed ideas, I remember thinking along those lines when I played Xcom and warhammer 40 chaos gate (basically Xcom in 40k). In these games you are the commander and you have 3 people immediately serving under you who are each in charge of a different branch of the organization (research, engineering and field operations). In both cases, each of these "leutenants" have very different ways of seeing the situation and are all focused on their department and angle. And this is, from your perspective as the leader, a very good thing. You might view them individually as to narrow minded and tunnel visioned, but because you have people of such differing opinions all adding their input to the conversation at hand, that means you as the decision maker get more to work with. You get all the arguments for and against every course of action and that means you can make a better, more informed decision. Xcom 2 even plays with this idea a bit, as the former head of research ends up isolated due to the alien war and conducts her own research, and it ends VERY badly with the creation of certain lethal life forms that escape the lab. In an audio log that you find, you hear her lament the fact that you (the commander) was not there to keep her ambitions in check when she did said experiments. So basically, a group of people with different skillsets and ways of thinking can accomplish much more and better things than they each could do alone, but there has got to be some uniting factor for them to gather around, which in Xcom's case is the commander ad in many IRL cases is the culture (SpaceX has both, a leader to rally around and a strong company culture). This is why having a strong, well defined culture is important, and also why you have to make sure your culture isn't shit (there are certain cultures in the world that are absolute trash).

Yes, agreed with all you said. There needs to be a node that is able to operate with a larger task in mind. Otherwise it is just chaos and shouting matches. :)

Did you notice why the butler pushes his glasses like that? Its because he might cut himself with knives on his fingers, so it became a habit.

Magath isn't aiming for the neck. Its the same deal as always. They don't want to kill the Founder. They want to take it. So they need to incapicate Eren and have someone eat him. I actually think at this point, its a super stupid call. Even from a purely "Fuck the world and all that shit, we just want power" pov. You probably should kill Eren, let the powers split and then pick them up later. Giving one of the shifters the powers of the founder, warhammer, attack and Cart/Armoured/Jaw is like... way to much power in one person that your trying to control through fear and oppression. They kind of have to help Eren here, because Marley would destroy Eldia. I think thats still the order, and Magath is going to follow orders. EVEN IF he isn't and his change of heart has been enough to not want to do it, they have absolutely know way of knowing that. As far as anyone on Paradis knows (either Paradisians or the Volunteers) Marley absolutely 100% wants to wipe Paradis of the face of the earth. You can easily throw in the British Empire at the end. Its a cycle. An almost inevitable flaw with society due to the nature of humanity. Leaders seek power. When they have power, they seek more power. Power is wealth and influence. You gain said power and influence by expanded your reach. And throughout history, the most effective method of expanding said power and influence is via war, and the most effective way to rule a nation at war, is by being authorarian. I do think AOT is something that could be used as an effective teaching tool. Ultimately school do try to teach these things, however when using real world examples to do so... they do tend to get complicated by inherent biases, either positive or negative. When they talk about partial rumbling, or a test rumbling, they mean releasing a bit of the walls to go mess up some miltary encampments.

AOT draws a lot from Norse mythology , but yes there's a lot of biblical imagery as well.

I'm not sure if one of the other comments mentioned it already, so apologies if this is a repeat, but I highly recommend looking up a comparison of the original and English dubbed audio for the end of this episode. Eren's roar is quite different but I think it's amazing in both. In the original (this one) it sounds like a terrifying roar of a beast mounting its charge, but in the English dub they did some sort of eerie mix of the titan roar and Eren's own scream, so you can hear the human voice behind a boney, clattering scream. It sounds so skeletal and primal, more like a wounded animal desperately trying to survive.

It's really hard for a series to successfully make the audience turn against the protagonist it's made them root for over at least 60 episodes, but goddamn AoT does it. Even though Marley is complicit in every tragedy the main characters have faced through the series, we're more or less forced to cheer for them because the alternative is Eren's total global destruction.
