      I mean a first they look quite similar, but from context we could conclude, that they are two persons.
      First there should be not enough time grom trapping jaw and cart, to go onto the small boat in the water.
      Second the beard, armin was never shown with one.
      And then there is piecks short insight into the past of the scout ship, revealing who it is.

      It's so weird to me that people have so much trouble telling Yelena, Historia, and Armin apart. I think because the blonde hair and blue eyes stand out so much people just latch onto them as identifying traits and they don't notice the more subtle differences.

    • @mucicafrajer9882

      @@whatever3543 It's probably the same phenomenon as having trouble differentiating between members of a different race than your own. This mostly disappears with age because you see a lot of different black people, or a lot of different asian people, or a lot of different white people for that matter. But here it's probably the fact that natural blonde characters are quite rare in anime, so you don't actually see a lot of them, therefore the confusion doesn't go away. Just my headcannon

    The hints that Zeke is a traitor are really fun in the beggining portion of this season:
    -Zeke always hid the fact that he had royal blood from the Marley military, why would he hide that?
    -He teases Colt about having a "big secret" in episode 2
    -Zeke gives a snarky comment on the Marley military hearing the warriors conversation in secret
    -Eren had a baseball and a baseball glove with him on episode 4 and said his "family" gave it to him (AKA Zeke)
    -Yelena doesn't trap Zeke with Galiard and Pieck, even though theres no reason why she would pass on trapping a dangerous enemy.
    -During the battle in episode 7, Zeke says Levi is running out of time
    Its really funny seeing new reactors confuse Armin and Yelena heheh, its basically a rite of passage at this point, Isayama should probably have made her have a different hair color.

    • @Qprah
      @Qprah Місяць тому +6

      The thing with Zeke saying Levi is running out of time has double meaning. A lot of the things Zeke says have a justifiable reason that makes sense in the context of who he is speaking to, but also the secondary meaning of what he is actually saying to the people who are in the know of what is really going on.
      In that moment Pieck had just explained that the Scouts were caught with no supply lines or support in enemy territory, with limited fuel and weapons. The Marley army and navy had surrounded Liberio, so Pieck is saying that the Scouts have put themselves into a corner and it is only a matter of time for the Warriors to close the net to catch/kill all of them.
      Zeke agrees with Pieck and then taunts Levi like "You hear that? It's only a matter of time until we kill you all".
      The Warriors and Marley hear him saying that and think "Oh Zeke is trying to get Levi to act rashly and make a mistake! What a smart plan!".
      Meanwhile the Scouts know that Zeke is actually saying "Hurry up Levi we've only got a little bit more time until Armin nukes the port and the airship shows up. You need to get your ass over here and "kill" me pronto".
      A lot of people hear him say that followed by the shot of Levi holding a pocket-watch and think the only meaning of what he is saying is to Levi, so they get sus of Zeke right away. They don't realize that Zeke is responding very rationally to what Pieck had just said to him and Porco so neither of them give what he says a second thought.

    This is the horror & tragedy of war that AoT depicts so frighteningly well. The people we’ve known & we’ve rooted for for 3 seasons are caught in this terrible machine. Like you said back in season 3, just ordinary people. Like Annie said in season one “I want the ordinary people that get swept along to be considered human too.”
    I also really like that you have the awareness to admit that you (we all) might be Gabi & Eren in a situation like this. It’s too real.

  • @carljohan9265
    @carljohan9265 29 днів тому +5

    Isn't it interesting that we first, at the start of this season, got two soldiers faced with the choice of shooting Gabi, and from their perspective pulling the trigger was the correct choice, they didn't shoot and it cost them the armored train.
    Then we got Jean faced with basically the same scenario (when Falco was trying to protect Piek) and while he did hesitate, he took the shot.
    And now we get this paradisean soldier who got killed because he didn't shoot Gabi, and because of that he also indirectly caused Sasha's death.
    All of this shows how utterly fucked a war is, since war is an environment in which shooting a kid isn't just logical, it's the "correct" choice.
    The phrase "war is hell" truly is one of those statements that can be said to be absolute truth.
    Also Falco is incredible as a person. He's been fed Marley's BS his entire life and he was not only able to see through it, but he's also capable of rationally looking at the whole picture even in a situation where he has every right to think that his attackers are the ones in the wrong.

    And as you know now, it's also possible to developp a character even after his death. Like you already know, through others characters, you can developp a dead character. And that's why her character is so important. Her death has a meaning, even after. It will not be forgotten. And like Iseyama said it himself, his story is not like GOT, where the story is made for the characters. It's characters who are made for the story. By that, i mean Iseyama only use a character as a meaning for his story and what he want to tell through it. The only character who don't obey to this law could be the main trio, Eren, Armin and Mikasa ... But for Eren it's more sure. Iseyama already told Eren was the darkest part of himself.

    Kids should always be protected from the messed up things adults can bring upon them, I think this is such a simple yet fundamental sentiment people in general should have regardless of their cultural/moral views & upbringing.
    So it's really disheartening to see people still thinking Gabi is the one to blame for Sasha's death, I would (sort of) understand the sentiment of wanting retribution if a child somehow did this to one of your loved ones, but even then, you just don't take that anger on the child, that's really messed up in my opinion.
    Let alone thinking she deserves punishment for killing a character that is NOT even close to a loved one, it speaks of people's moral views more than an emotional response to losing someone close, so this hatred is even less understandable in this context.

    I love the way AoT's reveals are portrayed when they are things that the audience has been led to suspect for a while ahead of the reveal. The reveals are done in such a way that even if you have already guessed that the mystery is what it is, you are still surprised by how its revealed when it finally comes to that point.
    Annie's reveal at the end of season 1 is the first major time this happens. All but 1 of the clues are given to the audience ahead of time and then the episode focus suddenly shifts to Annie who we haven't paid any attention to for the entire second half of the season. Everyone sees this as confirmation and while they are right the show plays it out in a way that still makes the reveal a shocking moment. Since the Scouts all know its her, we see that episode from Annie's PoV, and so they dont reveal that all the Scouts have surrounded her until she is confident that she has walked into their trap. We figure out that the Scouts know her secret at the same time that she confirms it. So even if you were confident that Annie was the Female Titan you'd still get the shock of finding out that the entire plan has been an ambush from the start.
    Reiner and Bertholdt's reveal in season 2 plays out similarly. Most of the clues for their identities are given before the reveal, and the episode name and the weird interactions the two have with Eren at the start of the episode, along with the absent music and eerie vibes the entire episode give the audience a pretty good feeling its about to happen. But then Reiner's method of revealing the mystery is itself a plot twist you didnt see coming, just because of how open and up front he is about it. Of course we get the typical AoT flashback to make everyone else's reactions make sense, but that just further adds to the tension before they transform.
    Zeke's defection in this first part of season 4 has a lot of clues hinting towards it in the previous 7 episodes, but even if you are confident in thinking that this is the mystery when its revealed you are still shocked because of the context of that mystery that you weren't ready for. Seeing that Zeke had planned Eren's attack and the Scout's arrival throws everyone's expectations that Zeke was captured alive out the window and turns everything on its head.

    ※Please note that the English translation may not be accurate as it uses Google Translate.
    Let's examine Zeke's lines from previous episode
    "Eren Jaeger is not my enemy."
    It is a word that can have two meanings in Japanese.
    ① Ellen is weak and will not be an obstacle (enemy) to me.Ackerman is the only threat.
    ②Eren is not my enemy. He's on my side. .
    The English translation is completely ②
    It only has the meaning of
    So English-speaking viewers were confused.
    On the other hand, Japanese readers at the time of the series thought it meant ①.
    Since Japanese people initially thought it meant option ①, Zeke's words did not seem strange to them at all.
    However, in this episode, we learned that Zeke's true intention was ②.
    Even Galliard was unaware of Zeke's wordplay
    But Peake clearly noticed something was wrong, because she is smart and insightful.

My opinion is that it was a good decision to signal what was to come and to foster Gabi character growth. Scenes with Gabi and Kaya were far more deep that what Sasha writing was giving to the show.

    Adding Gabi to the story as a foil in the narrative to early Eren is one of Isayama's (many) masterstrokes in this story. She's basically act-for-act, verbatim what Eren was after Wall Maria fell, but the audience can't - and shouldn't want to - cheer for her in the same way. I recall when this season was airing, a lot of less savvy viewers dismissed her as an annoying side character that killed one of the beloved main cast, not seeing what her role was in the ethics the story brings to the forefront.

  • @GamerFlair
    @GamerFlair 29 днів тому +1

    Gabi hasn't yet made the realisation that Marley are also the bad the guys, which I think is the key difference between her and Falco.
    Everything you said about Gabi is correct, however, she believe Marley (as in the establishment) are good people and she also believes that Eldians are inherently evil. She loves her people and wants to improve thier lot in life, but also does believe they are evil.
    Falco doesn't have that. He understands that Marlean, Eldian... they are all people. He obviously is very sad about what has happened... but he understands that its all just a cycle repeating. Violence begets violence.
    You right. I loved Sasha, but it was kind of telegraphed and is absolutely the correct death. I'd say she did have a purpose to the story though. Her purpose was to die here. Sasha was always the live and joy of the show. And her death here was to show that.. that life and joy has died.
    The one Jean is comforting is Daz. His not knew, he was at training. IIRC his the soldier that Historia saved/tried to die with.
    He basically did make himself a hostage. He had zero way to escaping Libero after he transformed. He did basically make himself a hostage. Either Paradis did what he wanted them to do, or they would lose the founding Titan and the only thing preventing Marley from wiping them off the map.
    Sasha doesn't have the same level of development as the others, thats by all accounts because the writer originally intended to kill her much early.
    I believe it was Floch making the freedom for eldia statement. The same Floch that was gleefully commiting war crimes by burning civillians two episodes ago.

      How is this shit a correct death? You seriously are of that deluded crowd that believes death was her only value to the show? That's the kind of writing NOT to be encouraged. You people clearly don't get what a serious abuse this was of her character.

    I swear I’m the only one who considers Sasha to be the absolute weakest character in the show. There are other minor characters who I believe used their screen time well (Keith shadis, eren kruger etc) but I always found that Sasha constantly did nothing of importance given how important she is to the main group of characters. All she did was make bad food jokes and constantly make major mistakes on missions.
    People love her and it just doesn’t make sense to me considering she did basically nothing to garner so much love.
    I’m not happy she died, I’m just totally indifferent.

      @storieswithstyle  Місяць тому +1

      yeah, I actually mostly agree. She was fun, but not complex. I think it fit, because that was her thing, the "animalistic one", in the end, after her death she had so much more impact than before. I will actually rate Sasha and her gravestone differently in the character discussion :D Edit: She is not the weakest, but the least complex, I think. =)

      Absolutely. I'm gonna add 2 cents. I love how this episode shows the back and forth of killing each other over and over until Gabby and Falco board the airship. They kill Sasha, but are spared by the enemy. Then finding out they also "spared" Zeke, just to have Sasha die due to their choices. So it shows Gabby is wrong in a way. And Eren's side is actually merciful🤷
