The blood and squashed body parts fell into Eren's throat, theres no way Galliard would've swallowed the spinal fluid if it was falling downwards.
Reiner looks different at the end not because of an upgrade, but because of a downgrade, his lack of will made his titan be formed without some chunks of his armor, so he's weaker than normally there.
Galliard is to Marley what those scouts from Trost were to Paradis: He was perfectly aware of the forces of Paradis but he's the only one in the fight who has NEVER encountered them. That's why Pieck was so cautious while Galliard was so hot headed
Also, pieck is probably one of the highest iq characters in the show (perhaps highest) and Galliard is pretty low on the thining department :D

I love your analysis of Jean's decision, his journey has been so well written. I've interpreted him second guessing himself afterwards as more him trying to rationalize why he hesitated, with his humanity being what made him hesitate, and his soldier programming trying to make him justify it regardless.

that's what happened, but my guy always pauses the video mid scene so he didn't catch the link between Jean missing and doubting if it was because he hesitated and/or uncounsiciously missed the target to not kill a child.

27:22 I just realized. This scene with Galliard mirrors the scene from episode 5 where Eren got his leg chomped off by the titan from below. And it happened to both of them because of their hastiness and emotions getting the better of them. Also that's not a new form. His armor is just incomplete and weaker because the lacks the full will to fight.

Just imagine the humiliation galliard felt when he tried to take revenge for his people dying thinking he can somehow beat eren but ended up used as a nutckraker killing the lady with the warhammer titan and eren taking her titan

You hit it on the head with Jean. It stuck with him hard that Armin had to save his life when he couldn't fire on another human in Season 3. I'm sure that ever since then he has told himself over and over: "When you have the shot, you have to take it! Regrets and second thoughts can come later!" He didn't want to shoot the Cart Titan with a child nearby, but he felt that he couldn't afford to lose the chance. He took the shot, knowing he might very well hate himself later, but also believing that he had no other option.
Yeah, such sad character development, also so understandable as well. =(

30:53 -- Reiner was not able to form a full armor around his titan body, perhaps because of his mental state. This is why his titan looks like this.

Ironically, Lara (the War Hammer Titan) has too little experience in war to fight against Eren in this state. She waited until Eren was looking at her again to strike, instead of taking him by surprise while he was distracted.
Feel bad for Armin though. It's always the soft-hearted ones who have to inherit the most destructive titan.
I do not really feel bad for Armin here, as he definitely fell in this episode. He nuked innocents. That is a long way from season 3 where he barfed after ending that one woman...
@@storieswithstyle True, that's fair. Nonetheless, it's not as if he could have done it on his own - the Scouts all knew this operation would kill thousands of innocents, and Eren left them with few alternatives. Among all of our scouts, few are as insistent as Armin in asking "was this really the only option we had? Is there nothing else we could have done?" It's gonna come up a lot as Eren goes through his "Painter Arc."
Well, he should not have done it at all. But I also think I am not far enough to judge it completely. Currently I have my thoughts, but they might change when I see more. =)
This episodes were so conflicting 😂 after so many years of cheering for Eren and the squad I was horrified by all this and really didn't know what to think, you may say I was like Reiner - lived with "the enemy" for few episodes and started to split 😂

Maybe it was the pausing, but How did it look like Galliard ate anything? The Attack Titan literally swallowed the blood 🩸 & viscera that exploded out of the Warhammer crystal. 😂 It couldn’t have been clearer.

@@storieswithstyle the whole scene is kindof titled sideways but the jaw is facing down and erens looking up at him and all the muscles around his jaw are destroyed so prettymuch any liquid in his mouth is just gonna fall out to eren

Well. You confused Eren and the Galliard's jaw. The blood and corps of the warhammer fall into Eren's mouth. We can see his double jaw of tooth that only him has. Also, you confused up and down. Eren was at the bottom and Jaw was at the top. Eren held him by the arms just above his open mouth. So when Jaw crushed the crystal, it fell towards Eren's mouth. Down in his mouth.

16:23 -- It seems that _all_ of them were _(secretly?)_ in love with Pieck! Remember how the rest of them started showing signs of jealousy when Pieck hugged one of them in the episode 4x05? Galliard even made a remark about that.

I’m so glad I found someone who shared how I felt when I first saw this. The combat did not excite me, I was just upset tthe entire time. Every victory is a tragic defeat. Every kill is an equivalent death.
I was so upset seeing people I’ve started to care about get killed, and kill.

You have the empathy and intelligence to appreciate the writing in this story, especially given how you're able to put yourself in the shoes of the Warriors and Warrior candidates in Marley. Unfortunately, less mature audiences will only root for one side without thinking about the wider implications of war and politics.
Also, Eren clearly swallowed the war hammer titan holder's blood, which has her spinal fluid in it. Gravity caused the blood to spill towards Eren's mouth. To inherit a titan shifter's ability, an Eldian needs to swallow their spinal fluid. The Jaw titan merely broke the crystal and crushed her body.
I think if you root for one side, you have not dived enough into what Isayama tries to convey, but I understand it a bit. This is basically Dune 2.0. :D I missed that Eren gulped down the blood, but he def did , not Poco. =)
Watching it again with you, it is another wonderful experience for me (levi’s secret wife is here 😬)
Don't get to hung up on Eren doing weird things, it will make sense later... the reason was already hinted multiple times
Your reaction is humane. Sane people cannot help but be sympathetic to death. War is much harder to facilitate when you know the humanity of the enemy. Its what makes it all seem so senseless in a modern world.

In the bluray Reiner's partial transformation looks a bit less like an "upgraded" transformation
I am with Avengers’ side, with Captain America I mean Captain Levi - but not with Iron Man of course - but there is no black no white, everything is grey, we can’t choose between Captain America or Iron Man side also because both sides have their own principles, their own belief, their own goals, but my heart always tells me that I should be in Captain America’s side in this civil war - because I believe this is the correct way (at least for me)
I have not seen the Marvel movies, so I do not know where I would stand on that! =)

It's worth noting that Armin generated a MUCH bigger explosion than anything Bertholt was ever able to do. It's probably the strongest explosion out of all the wielders of the colossal, and naturally the author uses it to great symbolic effect.
Armin wanted to see the ocean. In the image of the destroyed harbor, whe ocean is now missing.
Also remember back when they were trying to capture Annie, and how people basically told Eren that he needed to leave his emotions out of it and just do what was necessary?
Well, that's exactly how he's approaching this entire fight. "So the jaw can crack this crystal? Well since that's what works, I'm gonna use it".
Also worth noting is that Eren waited to the end of the presentation before he turned. Right after the world declaired their intention to end every single paradisian, he simply said "ok then, you literally asked for this".
Yeah, also symbolizes his "fall". now he robs the ocean from people. =(
Porco comes out of the titan because only Cart, Beast and WarHammer can speak and communicate

The important thing is to eat the spinal fluid, so when all the fluid fell down from Galliard's mouth Eren got the power.
This episode is so conflicting as you start to deeply root for both sides as just cassualties of the whole thing, while there are so many awesome action sequences but they all hurt in some way. Also I really enjoy your abillity to empathize with the characters even if there is mininum background info and just hints as the with Piecks crew.

My Man, Levi Ackerman looks so cool, Ackerman clan is just like Uchiha clan in AoT world and I love both: Levi Ackerman and Itachi Uchiha, both my heroes
And he's the only one there (and Mikasa) who wield the 3DM + Sword combo. Truly felt like an Uchiha
I would argue that levi is written 100x better than itachi (though itachi is written really well as well). I think that comes mainly from Levi being a main character but Itachi being "strong support character". So there was a lot more nuance and challenges Levi faced which let him shine more. =)

15:48 Totally get the sad feeling on this one but I have to say I'm glad you paused on this scene in particular. I never have and when I've watched it in the past, my eyes are naturally drawn to Carlo so I never noticed the pictures before the scene changed. Ended up seeing it a few seconds into it being paused.

Everytime I feel bad for pieck I remember what zeke and her did to the village. I mean rest of warriors did the same but there's a lack of remorse you see. Doesn't mean I side with Yeagerists btw.
I am really unsure about Pieck, as she rarely really talks about herself. She at least is really caring for the children, but still f**d because of the soldier stuff. =(

I also used to not like Eren not biting down on Porco, but I do have a logical explaination for it. He was on his absolute last leg of power. If he bit down in that moment, he would not have had enough power to give Reiner that one punch in the next episode, and would have been completely vulnerable. So he used his last energy to buy himself some time to escape by punching Reiner. Of course now you could say he could have eaten him instead of punching him into the ground like a dozen times, but I guess he did that to make sure he wouldn't regenerate his limps and then fuck him up.
The things Eren did you might think were stupid. But he always has a reason.
I yesterday finished 4x21 and have to say that while not stupid, it is really short-sighted :D

Because Eldia is already doing painter people stuff to itself. He is just so hell-bent on saving Mikasa and Armin (and other Eldians) that he ripped Eldia itself into hell (with the floch/Yelena stuff he supported). He has not understood that there is a devil in everyone. So yeah, best case they have peace for like a year and then there is a shitshow of Eldians against Eldians or another suppressive government that will make everyone suffer.
Too fast to be dissapointed in Jean, you'll understand in the next episode.

Not everyone thinks in such simplified ways. War, history, particular motives, etc are complex.
paradis is the same as Marley in general (arguably worse). It is just that our main characters had the luxury to build something temporarily good during season 3, but of course that did not last... =(
