Aww, welcome back! I hope you are having a wonderful time with your kids.
Quick refreshers: we know that at least some of the Wise One's can channel. One of them stopped Couladin from going berserk next to Rhuidean.
Yeah, leaving out the Lan - Rand stuff in the show sucked. They have such similarities. "Here's an oath that says that you have to go die." "Here's a prophecy that says that you have to go die."
Have fun getting back into this, at your own pace.

I think the Aiel view riding horses the same way some modern people would view completely able-bodied people using motorized wheelchairs. They have prided themselves on not needing horses ever since that moment in their history when they...

    .
    .
started pulling the horse carts by hand after the others abandoned the things they had been given charge of and went off with the horses.
(Not sure whether "cart" is the exact term, if we're getting picky about words, and I don't remember which word was used in the book - it's been a decade or two since I read it.)

Yeah, I also suspect it is from the breaking. Love that as well, Aiel are such a well written and thought out culture 🤗

Horses can’t survive in the waste very well. The Aiel don’t use them because an animal that requires large amounts of water isn’t really viable in the waste. The aiel are used to using their legs and can travel very far and fast by foot. Plus horses are fairly loud and the aiel often rely on stealth. The aiel also judge wetlanders as lazy and privileged with easy lives. it’s really just a bit of prejudice and judgement that wetlanders rely on horses instead of their feet. But I also think it’s a bit of fear, horses are a strange large animal to aiel, and no aiel would likely admit to fear, so it tends to come out as judgement instead. I’m also sure aviendha looks awkward on a horse since she has no idea how to ride one and probably had never seen one before leaving the waste, so the maidens make fun of her

Most English-speaking people will say "poisonous" in place of "venomous" most of the time. I don't know what percentage even know it's not accurate. For example, official D&D rules use the phrase "poisonous snake" when they clearly mean venomous.

i guess a better word wouldve been tabboo, rather than custom
