Not even 2 months ago I thought Perez would retire at the end of 2024, with Ricciardo taking his seat back at Red Bull. Now... he clearly didn't fit in at McLaren, and while 2023 was 50-50, 2024... not good at all. Like in his McLaren days, he seems to be mentally broken, no self-confidence, and that is usually a sign that the end is near.

I heard somewhere that Craig Pollock is thinking of bringing back BAR with Saudi Arabian backing. I'm not sure weather it will actually be called BAR and have backing from British American Tobacco (unlikely since they are partnering with McLaren now and they are getting podiums and are constantly progressing), but it will be intersting to see where this goes. Maybe a big name will sign for them like Lando Norris or Sainz Jnr.

I would love to see Toyota back in F1. They weren't a bad team that had a lot of misfortune the minute they came into the sport. Which meant they had to play catch-up. I remember watching them when Ralf first joined the team. The season and the following they looked very competitive

There was a few contributing factors for heritage round being scrapped, and probably why it won’t be reintroduced anytime soon. Money allegedly being the main one, introduction of indigenous & other themed rounds, expansion teams & teams like Adelaide and Essendon who haven’t changed their guernseys up much since joining the league. With teams having home & away/clash guernseys, indigenous round, some have alternate Anzac Day guernseys, then other miscellaneous guernseys some teams are producing 3-5+ guernseys every year (I think Geelong have played in 6 or 7 different guernseys just this year!). Brisbane have started playing Melbourne games in a Fitzroy based guernsey, and Sydney have started using a South Melbourne guernsey as an away/clash guernsey. Fremantle have bought back many anchor guernseys over the last few years, and the bulldogs with robodog. Other teams have bought back miscellaneous retro guernseys randomly over the past few years, so it’s not like they are forgotten, it does make them more unique than every team wearing one while the expansion teams miss out. While I did personally enjoy heritage round, I do prefer an indigenous round in it’s place, and makes the big hawk or 3d anchor more special when they are bought back.

It feels weird not to have any Japanese teams involved in F1 any more, especially when we had Toyota, Honda and Super Aguri at one stage.

This guy deserved so much more out of Formula 1. Shame Sauber sabotaged him because of Erikson’s sponsors. He could have had a fantastic career.

Never understood why the big F1 teams never contracted him. Maybe he should have tried to convert his F1 experience, in Indycar competition to prove the major big F1 teams wrong. They so often have it completely wrong, has been shown in the past. Often the F1 championship was not won convincingly, rather won due to poor judgements of competing teams, sticking to the wrong type of drivers, that had no potential of pushing the envelope, like a Nigel Mansell, Nelson Piquet. They all can give real kick to the throttle, few know how to get the best performance out of an above average package, on racing day and place a dominant signature on the race in progress. To spot such potential, do not look at the end results, look at places gained in first 3 laps and places not lost between laps 22 to 36. All the other laps, boil down to equipment, look for the laps that require driving skills over hardware durability. Who loses the least in those laps, only requires proper hardware, to place impressive signatures on the progress of the race outcome, benefittibg from te mistakes of lesser drivers in better hardware. In that regard Sutil in a descent package, would have really made life hard for any of the past champions. He just never got anything other than the worst of the worst material.
