Wrenching Wrecked
United States
Приєднався 13 чер 2022
Follow along as I take on too many projects and keep busy turning wrenches on cars, motorcycles, mopeds, and all things mechanical. I learned just enough over the years to keep getting myself into new projects and more trouble. Sometimes I know what I'm doing and sometimes you can learn with me. Either way, we will be having fun. Lots of shovelhead, ironhead, and small block ford stuff coming your way.

Can't Keep Them All! XLCH Finds A New Home, But New Toy Arrives!
It's been a long and challenging project with this crusty old chopper. I learned a ton about mags and carbs getting this old XLCH back on the road, but it's time for this to move on to someone else. Thanks to UA-cam, it found itself a new home! I'm sad to see her go, but you can't keep them all. I think the new replacement does have lots of potential to help out and save some time around the shop though!

XLCH Chopper: Parts Delivery Messup, Looks Like a Sandblasting Day Instead
Переглядів 45712 годин тому
I had every intention of getting the front end of this thing back together and put back on the bike, but unfortunately had a shipping error that ruined the weekend plans... No shortage of work or things to do, so I guess we'll try and fire up the compressor and try and get ahead on some much needed blast/coating work. '92 GMC 3500 OBS: Headlight Switch Hates the Cold TOO! Time to Fix That...
Переглядів 16416 годин тому
Well the Volvo passed emssions, but trying to use the truck has been annoying in the early mornings with sub 20 degree weather. The headlight switch has been on its last legs, and the cold only made it worse. 3-5 minutes of messing around with the light switch to get working headlights in the morning isn't gonna fly. So it's time to swap the super expensive ($12) switch. Powder Coat Shop Things...
'96 Volvo 850: IT PASSED EMISSIONS!!!! Finally Onto The Next Batch Of Projects!
Переглядів 19321 годину тому
What a long uphill battle. 2 EVAP lines eaten by critters, 1 barely broken line, and a stupid computer that stored old codes way longer than the pocket scanner said they should.... Anyways, new steering rack, muffler, exhaust (if it counts to call it that), timing belt, water pump, but she's finally done and ready to keep on trucking! Gotta keep it going to 300k... doesn;'t seem like much since...
XLCH Chopper: Rocker Swap, Springer Prep
Переглядів 459День тому
Finally dug out the springer for this XLCH to swap out some rockers. This set kicks the wheel up a bit more as the axle sits higher up on the rocker. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting on the front tire and tube for this new wheel, but at least I'm one more step closer to being able to get this front end installed. I'm still on the hunt for the top stem nut as well. I think I just need a 1" big t...
1970 Ford Falcon: Getting Ready For Outdoor Winter Storage + Volvo Fix?
Переглядів 27914 днів тому
Well I finally got the Falcon back to get it setup for winter. Good thing too, as I couldn't remember if it had coolant, but we have a string of 20 degree days headed our way. Cold weather and straight water in the block = really bad time... So let's get so green juice in this junker hotrod and get it ready to live outside in the cold. Also, I think I may have found the last of the EVAP leaks o...
Final Vehicle Flip Flops Before Winter - Happy Thanksgiving Y'all!
Переглядів 43614 днів тому
The cold snap of winter came up way quicker than I expected. I still have a few odds and ends to wrap up before hunkering down for winter build season. My Falcon still has water in the block from summer, and we're looking at 20 degree nights.. Mad dash scramble to "winterize" that thing now. Finally got the chopper over to the barn too.
Volvo 850: Failed Emissions - Now What!? Winter Is Coming, Time to Prepare!
Переглядів 22121 день тому
Volvo won't pass the "smog test" that doesn't check smogs.... Oh well, another thing to keep jamming away on, but weather isn't getting any warmer so time to keep moving forward on other winterizing bits. I guess the boat is up next on the chopping block. Shrink wrap is a beautiful thing when it comes to winterizing your old junk! And despite the set backs, let's keep moving forward with the wi...
Volvo 850 Wagon: Final Assembly and Startup! Hope I Didn't Screw This Up!
Переглядів 27521 день тому
Finally got the belt on, cams timed, water pump installed, and ready to hit the road. Hopefully the CEL stays off to get it through the smog test! Then I'll be ready to rip this thing around all winter again. She's been stubborn and fighting me this year, but I guess it's about due after 5-6 years of minimal maintenance and tons of neglect. Were you ever able to view these components after they had a little run time ? I'd be very interested to see the results. 🤔
jubilee's are cool tractors HAPPY TRAILS
What do your falcon leaf springs have to do with changing the ignition? Don't waste time. Make a separate video called "bumbling to myself in a parking lot" to target the audience for that kind of thing.
😎👍😎 Good luck..
Who doesn't love a good tractor?
I am too old to kick, I remember all the kick videos. To much fun
I like your bikes .....i have many bikes too LOL... I remember i saw one fancy old ironhead sportster i dont remember what year is it but its 1970s sportster somewhere like that anyway the owner who build it and customs on it he sold it around $10,000 cash for it ....i seen alot of old ironhead now days are over 4k as well.....ironhead starting becomes popular then old days .... Good luck selling it ...
I didn't expect an old ford tractor, but that is a very useful tool to have! They last forever and are a very versatile machine. Being from an agricultural area in Tennessee, everyone owned these old workhorses, many still use them today. In fact theres one in our barn that gets used on a regular basis, I think its a 52 model and still running strong! Good trade Wrecked 👍
😎👍😎 Hope you have as much fun with it as i plan on having with the bike ..👍👍👍
Crazy trade. Cool will be handy.
😁✌👍👊💯
😁✌👍👊💯
😁✌👍👊💯
Got to be constantly expanding things!!!!
I’m from the late 50’s remember grand dad going up and down the lane with basically the same out fit.
Hit the like folks ! 🥶👍👊✌💯
I’m having a hard time finding some info right now. Hard tail section I have is wider to the right then the left. I assume for belt drive. Do I center tire on frame or on axle? Does the rear tire need to be in line with front tire? Any help be cool.
😎👍😎
Gotta love delivery drivers. They are not going to go outta their way.
😎👍😎
😎👍😎 Is that Mike..from American Litho..??
We all seem to be having a hard time getting parts these days.
😎👍😎
Put a block heater on compressor
I feel you brother . Its the end of a great vidio series
😁✌👍👊💯
The man at the agriculture tire place, roughs up the tire with a grinder even. Who hawww
It's always something when you run your own enterprise. It doesn't leave much time for counting the stacks of cash rolling in 😅
😎👍😎 When i got Frankenstein from you,you suggested replacing the kicker gear, the big one with the square hole or the little one with the spring ..??
Is it going home to the guy at swap meet?
BRRRRR 🥶✌👍👊💯
I'm already over the cold, and it's only the start of it.. Thanks James!
I would think the little plastic tabs would break a lot easier in the freezing cold?
One of the reasons I left it in the barn overnight to defrost before digging into the plastic bits.. Thanks Bob!
Funny how those small little parts like that can cause such a big problem
Gotta love the problems that surface in the cold weather... You are right though, small quick fix switch, but no headlights early AM is just not going to work...
Good catch.😊
Thanks!!
Great when everything goes well!
After all the volvo problems, this felt good! Old American trucks are just so much better to work on..
Thank You for the informative video! Trying to clean out pilot jet on 1980 fxb. Let it sitting too long, ya I'm a D A. Gummed it up 🤙
Glad to help! Good luck with the rebuild!
I always thank God every time I pass smog.
It shouldn't be that hard! But yes, several hail mary's and praises sent in every direction! Thanks BOB!
Glad you got that finished!!! High 🖐️!!!
THanks TBone! Mini victories!!!
You might want to remove that trailer hitch before you find it with your shin LOL
If I had a dollar for every time I whacked a knee or shin....
🥶✌👍👊💯
Thanks James!
Harleys and old Volvos 🥰 Don't tell me you've got black cats too? 😅
Lol
Dog household over here. We had a cat when Shovel was really young. I'm pretty sure he beath the crap out of him enough to give him his pitbull protective traits unfortunately.... Sadly I didn't want to do volvo videos. Just caught up in what I'm working on. That's "supposed" to be the good car...
I've had tons of cars over the years and always come back to Volvo. . Had P121 Amazons,240's S80. Currently driving a V70. The old ones are deffinatly a whole lot more fun to work on 😅
In California if you have an older car that will not pass you can go to a smog referee and if it cost more to fix than the car is worth, he can sign it off.
I think they have that in Illinois too. I started looking into it, but that sounds like a huge headache too! I'll keep at it a bit longer, before I roll it down the hill into the lake...
Is your EGR System carbined up throttle body gummed up ? Have you tryed running any combustion cleaner threw ported vaccum to clean things up ? what are the codes that come up your Cat Converter clean along with heated 02 sensers?
This one has been predominately EVAP Large Leak P0455. The Cat is stock and questionable, but the lacquer thinner/fouler has "delayed" that code. I'd even be will to replace that if it were more affordable.... Strictly Evap on this one though. Chasing vac lines all over the place.
@@WrenchingWrecked shit you mentioned chasing vacuum lines am I remembering is there like 3 times the vacuum hoses with a bunch of them delay valves and such placed inline going from 1 senser to another? Cuz them will work your brain trouble shooting without being there to see your nightmare I can only give my advice if you got a buddy thats got a good diagnostic computer with real time data finding that ghost causing you grief takes time and conintraition have you tried a new carbon canister or gas tank vent line? I'm just kinda thowin throwin stuff at ya wish I could help more I know how frustration can sometimes send a car to salvage yard lol
Hang in there!
I'm Trying! So frustrating, especially when it's not an immediate response after trying to fix things... Fix it (I think..) drive forever, find out it's still broken...
😁✌👍👊💯
Thanks James!
This cold weather sucks but... It's a great time to get projects finished!
That is true. I just wish the prep time to get ready for actually working was a bit quicker... this winter snuck up on me hard!
Yikes, hey, I apologize for getting personal on the haircut, my own hair is shorter than yours but I d. Grow it long again, if it'd grow, bald on top and way receding in front. Love your place,
No worries at all! No offense taken! Just gotta switch things up every now and again!
Put your jacket and gloves on and ride it.
We hit a cold snap. I'll still try and ride until salt hits. Then I'll just putz around the road to feel cool for 3 minutes....
Happy thanksgiving to you
Thank you!
I haven't watched the whole build but the bike turned out very nice looking with the black finish - Nice job 👍
Thanks! I was happy with this one. Ends up going to a "good" new home I think!
