Volvo 850: Failed Emissions - Now What!? Winter Is Coming, Time to Prepare!

Volvo won't pass the "smog test" that doesn't check smogs.... Oh well, another thing to keep jamming away on, but weather isn't getting any warmer so time to keep moving forward on other winterizing bits. I guess the boat is up next on the chopping block. Shrink wrap is a beautiful thing when it comes to winterizing your old junk! And despite the set backs, let's keep moving forward with the winter progress. Second lift is now at the barn so more bike stuff coming soon.....

there's ways around emissions here in IL. for example if the repair is done at a shop that is listed with the state, and it costs more than $1200 (iirc) and still doesn't pass you can get exempted for the year and only have a visual inspection, You can also use the 1 time only six month extension the state offers. Since WW did the repairs himself he probably needs the 6 mo extension. he could also apply for an antique plate, but he could get pulled over since those are valid for certain times of the year.

go to DMV and get a 1 time only 6 mo extension for your license plate. will get you through the winter. Had to do this for the first year I had an Audi that wouldn't pass emissions.
