5:37 how are you seeing the vision/damage/armor type etc? When I hover over units on mine it just gives the basic word readout but no stats?

Hey man. When you hover over the units to be made, why are you able to see the damage and other stats etc beyond just the basic readout description I have when I hover over a unit to be made in a factory? I have no clue what stats my units have I’m making 🤷‍♂️

Slightly bothersome that point defenses are so meh purely in terms of cost. The allure of point defenses is you don't need to babysit them and they just do their own thing automatically blasting at anything that gets in range. Tanks meanwhile seem to need constant babysitting or they get turned to toast. With limited time and attention to divert to dealing with things, it's nice getting to take a breather with something. With how long matches are it's extremely exhausting to have to deal with a million and a half things at once.

I think that building a t2 arty wasn't necessarily a bad idea, but the fact that you were very non-committal in all your endeavors hurt you allot. Throwing allot of mass away in hopeless attacks actually allowed him to get ahead of you in total mass, and he invested that mass right back into building up his turtle economy. By the time you had fully committed to building a t2 artillery siege on his base he was already ahead if you by 3k mass and was running almost even with you in current mass. there WAS a window where an artillery station would have been a killing blow, but you couldn't capitalize on it because you were stretched thin. Overall Im a newcomer too, but I play sera. my initial reaction was to just start building t1 mobile arty, spam, and then I realized you were aeon which changed things, lol. as I understand Aeon is one of the harder factions to master, but they have a great air game. looking at it, just teching up to t3 would have saved you allot of grief as a harbs or a single absolver would have popped those shields... it also bears in mind that aeon have sniper bots that could have picked away at anything not shielded. Not sure if A experimental would have been a good idea. Aeon experimentals are great, but they're expensive builds, so I liked your nuke idea better.

Question about the build template for the pgen you showed... why did you not have the energy storage in adjacency with the pgens?

What does turtling mean?

Tried playing this game when i was a kid and couldnt really understand it so gave up. Coming back to it again now cos it was on sale on steam, and fricking loving it. Also way better on pc too, last time i was playing it on xbox. So glad to see its still alive all this time later! 😀 love that the community is keeping it alive hell yeah. For me, "playing alone forever" isn't a mistake, it's a choice I made after getting burned out by competitive RTS gaming in the Starcraft 2 days. If playing solo is a "mistake", then I don't want to be right.

This game deserves a (real) successor so much! I played this game so vanilla much in the past and was only able to play vs AI, that teaches you all the wrong lessons about the game (that is, turtling with point defense and defending your commander). Even though the community has done such an amazing job keeping the game alive with FAF, outside of the community I think the few people that are willing to touch an almost 20 year old game will not search for a whole seperat & modded installement. A simple treatment as Sins 2 is for Sins of the solar Empire, that up the grafics a bit and enables multi-core processing & performance could be a great re-entrance into the rts genre and would be an instant buy for me. Kinda sad, that devs only look for the big titles and self proclaimed "Starcraft killers" and overlook easy money in such obvious places :( Sorry for the rant :D

I think flood could've won if he pursued Cigar with his tanks and the commander when Cigar was basically standing alone in the north east base. He was down to maybe 15% life.

hydro rush: place the factory closer to the hydro to reduce walking time. The further away the hydro is, the more it matters. It might even be required to build one single pgen (after the factory, before the mexes) to brigde the power gap when the hydro is more distant.

3:51 I've always heard that using the commander on the front lines is a bad idea precisely *because* of how long it takes to walk it over there. You're far better off using its building power than using it for nothing at all as it slow-trots over to the other side of the map. Maybe that's just a Planetary Annihilation thing that doesn't hold true in FAF?

Putting the commander at the front also carries a risk. My opponent once was surprise by a little army and lost his commander 10 minutes into the game.
