Overall great film the spin at 5:08 was a little too disorienting could help if you use the 180 rule. I loved the acting, script was very solid but fell short a little at some parts. Because both motors for retraction would be just doing a simple consistent speed / rotation, have you considered a solution that uses a small gear train to get both rotations out of one strong motor? Also, you might be able to mitigate some fishing line snapping by adding something more elastic between the line and the motor, or at the top where it attaches to the blade, the give may help. Not an engineer, also just a hobbyist, but it's certainly where I'd start.

Just seeing this now, crazy that they make a clear version of that staff! I imagine your blade is pretty wobbly without a stabilizer, but still very cool!
