You remind me of hacksmiths early days, definitely earned my subscription I can't wait to see what you build in the future and I hope your channel grows!
Thanks! That means a lot 🙏
Dude!!! You're doing it!!! You straight up are going to make the best prop for saber ignition scenes. Imagine tracking saber effect to something that extends that smoothly...
HOW YOU DONT HAVE MORE SUBS??? U DESERVE IT
More like Cole Succeeding!!!
2:50 I‘m happy you made it out alive
I appreciate that
dude this is legit. when you perfect the retraction and the lighting, ill buy 2 of them!!!
Mind blown!!! Your skills are now complete!!
Loving ur channel! Hope you go far with this and can possibly collaborate with some bigger creators in the future to grow you bc you deserve it dude!!!!
Thank you!! I hope so too!
Looks like it came outta the movie!!! I like that it looks substantial.has some weight!!! Awesome!! Not some store bought junk
This is the hidden gem of youtube bro
Thank you!! I hope youtube stops hiding it
So cool :P When will the blade be a more solid, movie style blue though?? Maybe there is some other thinner polyc that you can work with that way you can then add cellophane so it glows better?
Switching to neopixel LEDs would help the effect a lot, which is something I’m working on adding! It’ll be much easier to add then on non thin-neck sabers, though.
Keep it up brother..
I think making the cable proportionally shorter to the spring would combat your blade breaking issue but it looks like the blade would also be about 20% shorter so that's a big sacrifice lol
could you uncoil the blade and spray it with a frost spray to help defuse the light more? Also, where can you purchase the blade at? I followed the like and all I can find is metal or solid colored plastics.
can you make a vader one or a tutorial?
Can the blade retract back into the hilt by itself?
Love how well the hilt has been weathered since the last video I saw. Any tips on how to weather chromed metal? I’m looking to weather down a Graflex I got that is way to shiny for my liking!
My go-to method is always to use acrylic paints to simulate dirt and grime. Even a very watered-down coating would probably help knock the shine off a graflex. Another option is to chemically weather it, I've heard you can use various household acids like vinegar to remove the graflex's nickel plating. I'd proceed with caution, though - wouldn't want to do anything that would permanently damage the graflex. I hope this is helpful!
@@ColeFailing Thank you for all the tips! I think paint is the safest option too. It’s a knock off Graflex and not a real one, so that’s why I want to weather it, to look more screen accurate, as it is fully chromed atm.
Wonderful work! How do you retract the blade? Can the fishing wire re-coil it?
Thank you! At the moment I just push it back in by hand. I’m looking into possible retraction options though - the trouble with coiling the wire is that you’d need to fit a motor into the hilt!
How did you actually get the blade? Did you have to make it yourself or were you able to actually find the plastic already coiled? If it's already out there, where? Trying to build a lightsaber for a cosplay.
My coil was originally an expandable staff from a magic trick set. They usually come made out of metal, but I was able to order some from that transparent plastic. I originally found them here: www.penguinmagic.com/p/S23570 but their site now says out of stock. I recommend checking on Amazon, I think they have some plastic options on there as well (I just searched for ‘expandable staff’). Good luck on your cosplay!
I'm looking to experiment with something similar. Where did you get the plastic? What type is it?

The site had sourced the plastic themselves, so if you’re looking to get some you might have luck reaching out to them directly. Hope this is helpful!
It looks le they don't exist anymore. I could only find one brand that made a clear plastic one and the product was discontinued :(
Well done! Now how does it retract? 😀
Thank you! The blade can be retracted by rewinding it by hand into the emitter cone. I'm looking into other retraction options for a future video however, since I get asked about it a lot!
What kind of plastic is the blade made of?
Also did you get a premade staff thing or make one yourself?
