I grew up I Caledonia
I live in Caledonia, and I honestly love it here. I live by most of the stores and it’s an easy walk to most places.
We haven't had lake effect snow in 10 years
Wow you can tell you're real estate people You ain't looking for areas with big money. Grand Haven New Zealand are not suburbs of Grand Rapids Go ahead tell somebody and Grand Haven that there are suburb of Grand Rapids. Step back quick though cuz you might get slapped. The same goes for New Zealand. And East Grand Rapids sure it's a suburb of Grand Rapids itself with a lot of old homes that are way overpriced with a nice crime rate a little high. I've been here 62 years. You got it a little round guys. You guys are just looking for the 💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰😁
Why would anybody do that to themselves. Self harm rates are really going up
Hi there, I'm looking to get out of this exorbitant real estate market on the west coast (Oregon) but I'm an outdoorsie country gal. (Older one). I have lots of pets and we hike in the Cascades almost daily out here. Nature is my sanctuary so what part of the state would you recommend. I am from northern Missouri before living in Oregon. The prices, the LOW crime, and the cleanliness is a draw!! Suggestions...? Plz. Dog friendly places would be great. Breweries and festivals a plus. Art scene would be great. A more liberal environmentally aware area is what I'm most interested in I suppose. Thoughts? Even more of a concern...I guess you guys use studded snow tires every winter there?
I live in South Haven!❤
Hi! Planning on visit in the end of July for celebrate my Bday, What restaurant is a must to go? And Which is the best beach for toddlers? Thank you!
Retiring to Holland from Chicago next summer! I love winter. I love snow, and I love those all-too-short summers, and the cost of living is so much more reasonable. I’ve already checked out the arts scene, the library scene, and all those lovely little coffee shops and restaurants. Great parks! Lots of nature! I have an owl living in my back yard! :) I am getting my new house renovated and ready, so I’m up there a couple of weekends a month. Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo both have great cultural opportunities, and the galleries in Saugatuck Douglas are wonderful. I will now have to drive a half an hour to get to Trader Joe’s, so-that’s a drag, but, man! I am so excited to GO!!!
Family of 3 looking to move to Michigan
Hello, good evening, I hope with all my heart that you are well, I'm wanting to move to Mishigan with my wife, I have experience with carpentry, I can work in anything, I'm Brazilian, please, do you know anyone who needs a worker?
I love Michigan but the winters are the death of me I can’t stand being confined into my home
Winters here can be rough, luckily I'm kind of a homebody, so it works out for me 😁👍
“You’ll see lots of boats on the road………obviously pulled on trailers.” That made me chuckle, and to be expected. 😜😂🤣
I went to BC High School in the 60's. I have lived in Northern New England for the past 40 yrs. Any smaller homes/condos in BC?
I don't know who you realtors are trying to fool but I've lived in Michigan all my life and we have the worst bipolar weather ever four seasons 😂😂😂 try like 3 months of Summer and the rest of the year is cold at regularly snows in April and just yesterday at the end of April it was 28° 1 minute it can be 70° and sunny and then the next day it could snow The weather is so up and down you will regularly get sick because you don't know if you're supposed to have your heat on or the air conditioner
Watching from Eugene, Oregon. GR has been a location I’ve been interested in moving our family to for years. I’m finally coming out for a visit this weekend to see if it’s as great as you guys make it sound. My biggest concerns are crime rates (we don’t feel safe in our current city), weather conditions especially with it being about as gloomy as where we are now, and of course the housing market! We have been priced out of Oregon and it’s heartbreaking but GR appears to still have decent housing for relatively affordable housing while still having access to beautiful nature!
Did you end up coming out? What did you think?
Is there parking here?
Oct. 6 will be seeing Tom Segura this year!
I wish you guys, or someone, anyone, would make videos of the Comstock Park and Northville areas. No one has covered those areas at all.
I'm enjoying this because you're steering everyone to the west side. My wife and I live on Little Traverse Bay and are running like rats to our new (old, built in 1920) house in an undisclosed little town on Lake Huron exactly because there are too many tourists on Lake Michigan. Keep up the good work guys, keep everyone targeted on the west side.
Could you guys stop by the Holland Parks Department and find out why Andy can't seem to plant any trees. That would be super wonderful.
I grew up in west Michigan and my wife is from the east side. We have lived in the panhandle of FL for 6 years and are about to move back. When it comes to the cost of living, it completely depends on where you live. MI cost of living is certainly not lower in GR or Traverse. Yes, you get the seasons in MI which are amazing. However, you get the sun in FL. It just depends on which you can't live without. Absolutely true that the houses and styles are different. FL can't do grass like MI. You get much larger yards with beautiful lawns in MI. It is also accurate that there are more basements and we do miss that. Both states have a lot of water, but the vegetation is vastly different. FL has that tropical vibe in some places, but tends to be bushy otherwise. MI forests are beautiful and inviting. It doesn't compare. Ironically, we have always felt that people engage in more outdoor recreation in MI. The heat in FL is oppressive and although the winters are long in MI, people adapt and figure out how to still enjoy the season. Lastly, the politics in MI are palpable. I didn't realize it until we moved away. People in FL are much more relaxed and the pace tends to be slower. Where we live in FL, people don't wear their politics on their sleeves and it makes life a bit more enjoyable. Mosquitoes are just as bad in both places. Cockroaches though... that is a popular bug here in FL. Everyone has them. I will also say that the flies in MI can be horrible. Two very different places and I know we will be visiting FL in the future!
I live here
I'm following your channel with great interest. My sister lives in Portland and my husband and I are seriously thinking about a move to MI. :-) We're from California. You have a lot of great information here.
Humidity sucks,in Houston Texas!
Born and raised in MI. Lived in Houston Texas for 9 years, and hated it!
The big cities in Texas are flat, but with The Hill Country and the mountain ranges of West Texas, only 44% of Texas is flat. After 6 decades in Texas, I have never seen a tornado or known anyone who has. Statistically, DFW residents have a better chance of dying in flash flooding than a tornado.
How much are homes around west michigan and is this a good place to enjoy the amazing coastlines and nature that Michigan has to offer?
Heyyyy I live there…
Watching from Los Angeles, CA. Looking to relocate to Grand Rapids in the next year 😂
I’m from Lansing MI
Chesaning-Saginaw-pre 18 NJ/NYPost 18-Want to come home to MI, but would like access to the Lake with good water quality and from recent NIH cancer investigation, I am worried about the water quality that will be piped into my home if I come back. Wish there was more consistency from county to county regarding the quality of public water in MI and same w/ some of the Lake/Boating areas. In NY I'm getting my water from the tap (horrors nowadays!) but it is the ending of Die Hard 3 people, and NYC water is pretty great! We get it from Adirondacks but MI water, and especially on the East side NIH maps indicate MI Western counties much more blue and I don't mean political, I mean the cancer rates. If you guys could speak to water, and it's a huge issue. I do not want to move to AZ or some place with water restrictions and although I assume I must water filtrate anywhere I do move after NYC besides certain counties of Maine, it's quite frightening many of the counties where I grew up as a kid, had my own future medical issues, which I do believe were caused my the poor water quality I was exposed to or toxins from such an industrialized area. I think your videos are very good, but all the hype on the low taxes and the growth jobs is wonderful like South Carolina. If i hear SC one more time today in NYC, I want to groan. Attached is NIH Link statecancerprofiles.cancer.gov/map/map.withimage.php?26&county&001&001&00&0&01&0&1&5&0#results Thanks guys
Good videos guys, funny you mentioned San Diego, I was born and raised in GR moved out to SD 3 years ago. Watching videos on UA-cam now haha just GR nastalgia. SD is an EXTREMELY nice place to be though, I ain't complaining 🤙. But GR is a great place to raise a family id say. Only correction id make to keep it honest is, people are nice and friendly, but they aren't as warm and outgoing as say people from warmer climates (down south or SoCal) GR is a bit more introverted of a city. I know cuz moving to Cali took me a while to shift cultures of like whoa people are super open to talking and hanging out with strangers here. It's not like that as much back in GR But don't be mistaken GR is a great place to be
Cual es el mejor lugar para vivir en GR !?????
Lmao 450 views and 13k likes 💀
Just landed here. I dont understand basement. Is basement counted in sq ft for house. Never seem a basement or understand the puepose.
GR one of the best places to live in 2023?! 😂 Of course someone trying to sell something would say that...
Why am I getting plugged this content? I live here and public safety has declined since 2004, in my experience. They still can’t fix Weston from commerce to Ionia.
I'm moving to Western Michigan from San Francisco, CA next year...hit me up!
I've lived in Muskegon since 2009, and in the area all my life. I can't even recognize large parts of Muskegon anymore. They've improved so much. Not just downtown, which has been substantially rebuilt into a very walkable area. But the neighborhoods adjacent to it-- which were all once rough neighborhoods just a few years ago-- now so many of the houses have been restored and rebuilt. Now its just block after block of really cute early 20th century houses.
I would like help knowing where to live in Muskegon. I want to fix up a home to partially retire. Is all in the city of Muskegon not safe?
great topography descriptions of both regions related to your personal lives. where did you both connect and become friends? because you are in slightly different areas. great team with different perspectives on the same thing. very good content here.😎
I take the bus a lot and have been doing so for years. You can't get everywhere you want on the bus. Quite a few places are off the bus line and you have to take other transportation to get there. And there are options for seniors and disabled. Quite often we get left out .
If you don't like sunny weather, this is the place to be.
Regarding taxes, our sales tax @ 6% and income taxes at 4.05% (flat rate) , (unless your city hits you!) are pretty much middle of the national pack. The property tax, especially if you buy in a city are brutal. It isn't uncommon for new buyers to be paying 1.5% - 2% of their home's value! Most folks don't realize what they even pay. Townships tend to have much lower rates than the cities and or villiages! Check before you buy (based on price you are paying!!!!)!
I live in Grand Rapids and it fucking sucks. The people are rude and reckless. I would never dream of leaving my house without a weapon. The homeless are becoming a bigger problem by the minute. Every other car you see is bashed in on all 4 corners. Just a bunch of dirty and disrespectful people. Hopefully i have enough equity in my house to sell it and move in the next year or 2.
Why dont you talk about how bad the drugs are and how bad the crime is? It's starting to turn into a shit hole like California. The crime has gotten so bad since the liberal retards tore up downtown area. The liberals really fucked that town up from what it use to be. The homelessness has gotten out of control and i never seen that many bums in the area out of the 39 years i lived in the area. I live in the country outside of GR. And i avoid that shit town at all cost. You couldn't pay me to live there. It's a shame it's not like it use to be before the libtards came in and fucked up.
Watching from Orlando. You guys are tempting me!
Texas hill country, is very hard on my E bike .
Holidays?
