@@D_Spear I contacted EONON and they confirmed that it does not work. A bad design oversight I think because otherwise it seems like a very good unit. Their response was "The original steering wheel control's phone and voice buttons are directly connected to the original car's head unit. Therefore, once the original head unit is removed, these buttons will no longer function. Our unit does not support the use of the steering wheel control's phone and voice buttons." I've also seen comments about poor phone performance re mic and call quality. Is that your experience too?

Did you get it figured out? I would double check your connections, make sure all the wiring harness plugs are fully seated in.

Mine is the 4 core with the 2gb ram, which honestly seems low but Eonon has really made the software much more simple with this unit so it doesn’t feel as laggy as the previous generations. If you could spring the extra money, it might be worth paying extra for the upgraded model but this one has been just fine for my needs, the value for it is still great.

Yes I’ve seen that model, it looks like they found a way to integrate it with this exact unit really, I could probably find a way to do it to mine if I wanted. I’m glad they were able to make that change though, much needed. Let me know if you have any questions about the install.

Really? That’s weird, I’ve never heard of that happening. Do you have the Bose mazda3 model or the Mazda 3 model where there is two screens?

Yeah I agree it can be bright at night, I think the only way is to turn down the brightness overall but there might be a way to just lower it for night only. Anyway overall screen brightness you swipe down from the top of the screen, it’s a pull down menu, and the brightness bar is at the top of the pull down menu.

Yeah ive done that. On the lowest setting it's still way too bright. Im currently emailing eonon back and forth for a solution

Did you get it figured out? I would double check your connections and make sure the plugs are seated in all the way.

Sounds like you previously had a Lock Screen setup on a difference device in the past and it’s likely reusing the old lock pattern. Does that sound familiar to you?

@@D_Spear no. When I logged into Google on the head unit itself (not through ZLink) it asked me to make a pattern. Now everytime I turn on my car I have to input my pattern on the lockscreen

To be honest I don’t think this unit is going to make the sound quality any better, it’s comparable to stock, but I don’t think any aftermarket unit really will improve sound quality without changing out the stock speakers as well. I did a subwoofer in my spare tire well to improve bass levels, that helped a lot. I will say this unit does have an equalizer that you can mess around with.

Apple CarPlay and android auto both use WiFi and Bluetooth to wirelessly connect, I would try removing the Eonons WiFi address from your phone and also Bluetooth as your phone connects to the radios WiFi hotspot to use android auto. Then you would have to use wired android auto. I don’t think you will be able to use wireless android auto and also tether.

I would I check the fuse, I believe it’s in the back of the unit, could be bad. Otherwise yeah sounds like it could be bad.

Did you ever find the secret menu? Also do you know how to turn off the option where it stops playing music while reversing?

Yeah I do because I have not installed the external mic, did you install yours by chance? I hear the one built into the unit isn’t the best.

I did as well and found with my iPhone, there was better call quality when I plugged in via usb vs Bluetooth.

Do you have an iPhone? Sometimes I have to connect manually from time to time but not everytime.

Didn’t realize they had a newer model for this unit, that’s pretty cool. I do think moving the Tstat like the way I did helped, and since the Tstat I wiring is a very simple two wire design, I could actually cut the wire and extend the Tstat to anywhere on the room, the splice if done correctly won’t affect it. You can also put the unit in a lower fan and heat setting once you reach temp so it doesn’t short cycle as much. You should be just fine using a dryer cord, I’m glad you paid a pro to do all of the electrical parts.

I did this by following this guy’s video. ua-cam.com/video/_GW0A8HEyc4/v-deo.htmlsi=_OIgHEKiFdXGHqqy It’s a pain to remove if you don’t have the right tools, but I was able to have the two sets of cords meet in the passenger side of the center console and tucked them back in. I went with a USB-c cigarette plug connection to future proof my car down the line.

I did not install the external mic, I honestly don’t like the look of it and wished there was a way to make it look more OEM. There probably is an aftermarket mic that can be used for this purpose but I haven’t tried it yet. As for the gps antenna, yes it’s installed but I really don’t use the gps or need it as I use apple CarPlay. The reverse camera does turn on even if the camera isn’t installed, there might be a way to turn this off if it’s not installed. Might have to look into that myself, thanks for watching!

Can you use the factory microphone?

@@michaelortiz4929 I used the factory microphone location (in the centre of the hood lining near the rearview mirror). Gut the mounting plate of the factory microphone (tape it to the Eonon mic wire and push it back), remove the clip from the Eonon mic but leave the foam sock in place, then squish it into the plate and reinstall. But the quality of the mic built into the head-unit is also fine.

It’s not where you think it would be. Go to settings> car info >click on the tab on the left “version” . Then on the lower right click on “my car” . Then click on the lower middle tab called “app” . You will see a list of two items, #2 says “personal habits” click on the tab that says “learn” next to it. There you will find a set of functions and you press them on the screen and then the button you want it to act as.

Yes there is a feature that turns it off I guess so you can focus on reversing, kind of odd. I know you can turn it off though. Even the newer Eonon units do this still.

@@D_Spear is it better to do at Mazda dealer? How much do they charge to install back up camera? I have 2013 Mazda 3 has less than 50k miles but main problem is no back up camera.

Hey! I appreciate the feedback and no that’s a first for me! Are you sure it’s related to the radio? I know the pass seat does have a weight sensor and sometimes when there is just barely enough weight it can trigger the sensor on and off over bumps, I wanna say it’s like 30 lbs.

For this model I read it online somewhere and it didn’t say in the manual. For some newer Eonon units the password is in the manual.

Great question! Upon looking up on Eonons website it doesn’t appear that there are specs listed but I personally haven’t noticed it charging faster than standard speeds. I would think if it was a fast charger Eonon would advertise that, I think that would be a great feature on future models. Thanks for watching btw!

How did it go?

No it comes built in, make sure you have your WiFi and Bluetooth both on your iPhone, this is required for it to work. Then you need to make sure you have the hotspot function on the Eonon radio unit, after that you need to connect your iPhone to the radios WiFi hotspot, it should say android. Also make sure your Bluetooth is connected to the Eonon unit, I wanna say it’s just called Eonon. Hope that helps. It should have done this automatically

It’s all part of the main connector on the wiring harness, came connected to the Eonon wiring harness from the factory.

Did you double check your connections for the antenna?
