Best spot for Sunrise or Sunset on Madeira? Pico Ruivo or Arieiro
#madeira #sunrise #hiking
If you visit the island of Madeira, there's one thing that will always come up on a suggested itinerary: sunrise or sunset at either Pico Ruivo or Pico do Arieiro, two of the highest points on the island.
At first it may seem like an interchangeable option (and to an extent, they are). However, considering that it can take an hour to drive to these spots and that Pico Ruivo has an additional 45 minute walk to the peak, it's not quite as simple.
In short, Pico Ruivo is the better spot for sunrise (and sunset). It's more isolated, hence the 45 minute walk to the peak. If you head to Pico Ruivo for sunrise, you can then do the 'Peak to Peak' hike which is another must do on the island.
Pico do Arieiro is far more accessible because it has a car park that is less than 200m from the peak. That does mean that it is far more crowded. Regardless, it offers great views for sunset and better yet, as soon as the sun goes down you can jump in your car and drive home!
At the end of the video I discuss a spot near Pico Ruivo that nobody seems to go to - the lack of crowds and the viewing platform mean that it's actually my favourite place for sunrise thus far.

Oeschinensee Lake - Touristy for a Reason | Switzerland
Переглядів 48110 місяців тому
#oeschinensee #swissalps #alpinelake Oeschinensee Lake is an alpine lake in the Swiss Alps. It's a popular tourist destination but as you'll see, it's one of those places that is popular for a reason. Surrounded by impressive mountains, you start in a small village called Kandersteg. Whilst there seems to be a gondola that takes you up, we decided to do the roughly one hour walk up to the lake....
Cliff walking on the Via Ferrata in Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland
Переглядів 41910 місяців тому
#viaferrata #lauterbrunnen #cliff Back in Lauterbrunnen to try the Via Ferrata.....something that I've wanted to do for a long time. What is a Via Ferrata? Well, Via Ferrata translates to 'Iron Path' and is essentially a wire and pegs that often traverses very steep cliffs. You're clipped into the wire and make your way along these paths that would otherwise, for good reason, be fairly dangerou...
First timer at Swimrun | ÖTILLÖ Engadin, Switzerland

#swimrun #ÖTILL #adventuresport What is Swimrun? Good question - I'd never heard of it before but apparently it's a fast growing sport where, you guessed it, you swim and you run. You might be forgiven for thinking that Swimrun was like a triathlon without the bike, but it's a little different. Instead of a single swim and a single run, there are multiple stages of varying distance. As such, th...
Are there any Great White Sharks left in False Bay? Cage Diving South Africa

#cagediving #sharkdiving #greatwhite Cage diving with great white sharks is something that I've wanted to do for a long time, and what better place to do it that the Western Cape in South Africa, specifically False Bay or Gaansbai? Or so I thought.... Cape Town and its surrounding waters is renowned for great white sharks and the ability to throw yourself into a cage to see them up close and pe...
Cape Fur Seals in Simon's Town | South Africa

#seals #simonstown #capetown Back on the Western Cape. Simon's Town is around 40 minutes outside of Cape Town and a popular spot for diving. Whilst I couldn't scuba dive, there is the option to go snorkelling with Cape Fur Seals. There are a number of different operators but I went with Pisces Dive Centre. Really easy to book with them (I went for the morning session) and it costs 1100 ZAR (£50...
Cape Crusade | Multi Day Trail Running in South Africa
Переглядів 34911 місяців тому
#trailrunning #southafrica #capetown A bit of a different one to the usual travelvideos. I'm in Cape Town, South Africa and thought that a different way to see places might be to do some running events....and I'm glad I did. The Cape Crusade Trail run is a realtively small event on the western cape, near Grabouw. It's a 3 day event where you can either choose to run 20km per day (the crusade), ...

#ultralight #pokhara #himalayas My final day in Pokhara, Nepal and it's another activity in the air. I was keen to see what the best thing to do in Pokhara was, specifically in the air. You can hot air balloon, ultralight or paraglide, though because of the new airport and slow permits, there wasn't any paragliding on offer when I was there. First things first, ultra lighting in Pokhara is by f...

#whitewaterrafting #pokhara #nepal Another day in Nepal's adventure playground, Pokhara and its surrounding area. This time it's with a company called Paddle Nepal who predominantly organise white water rafting and kayaking (as well as canyoning). It cost around $60 USD for a half day trip. You meet at the Paddle Nepal offices in Lakeside, Pokhara and it's then a 30 minute drive to 'Upper Seti'...

With Loadshedding don't fall for the propoganda, the grid can stand the load, it's political and the US and Germany mainly drive this policy to not use electricity to our full capacity. Cape Town is not any more dangerous and can be argued is more safe than many American and European cities

Western Archeology would have you believe "how did they do it?" but the "Intelligence" is removed from the equation. "Elbow Grease" maybe a huge contributing factor

Just got back.. great video, especially about going in off-season. I did gokyo lakes and EBC 15 years ago and loved it. This time around i hated it because of the crowds, ruined it.. Only other thing to note.. our guide suggested it was fine to eat small amounts of meat up to Namche.. we had 4 in our group go down woth food poisoning in Namche.. chicken related. It made the reat if the trek hell. Dont eat meat anywhere in trail, and take your hygiene super seriously.. sanitise sanitise. You dont want to hike for days with food poisoning, dehydrated with no food. Awful experience!

As for KK - naw, stayed "downtown" and found it to be a lousy city - so been there done that
