The Tenzing-Hillary airport at Lukla is a renowned airport, often known as the most dangerous airport in the world. At over 2800m elevation (over 9,000 feet) it's nestled on the side of the mountain in a valley. What's more, the runway is just over 500m (about 1,700 ft) and angled at nearly 12% so that planes can slow down quickly, and speed up for take off.
Why would you fly into such a dangerous airport? It's the quickest way to get into the Everest region in the Himalayas in order to start the Everest Base Camp Trek.
You fly in/out on small Twin Otter planes over the foothills of the Himalayas. The turbulence can be pretty nerve racking and flights are often cancelled due to the weather. Needless to say, it's not a particularly relaxing flight but is certainly a hell of an experience!

@Random Things! - certainly nerve racking. It was definitely worth it, though I guess it's a completely binary view on whether it goes right or wrong!! Can't say I'd want to do it again....

@John Ensor - can't believe that it used to be a dirt runway as well

@Mary Abreu - yeah I doubt many people would feel completely comfortable doing that flight for the first time! Brought the cap from London, one of my friends gave it to me......although I've already lost it!

Travelogues this good don't need "music"; takes this viewer out of the action. although if the AI likes it, fair enough.

@Tom Bley - funnily enough I was on the fence about including music, though without it the engine noise was a little weird (nothing to do with the algorithm). Either way, thanks for the feedback and next few vids are unlikely to have a lot of music anyway
