How to clean your Tiny Wood Stove Flue System
Переглядів 3,2 тис.Рік тому
The most important ongoing maintenance task for your wood stove is to keep the flue system clean. As you use your stove, some smoke will condense inside the flue system and form creosote, a flammable tar-like substance. Too much creosote buildup can increase your risk of a chimney fire. You will need to inspect your flue system on a regular basis and clean it as often as necessary. The frequenc...
Checking Air Controls for a Good Seal
Переглядів 524Рік тому
Ensuring the air control paddles on your stove are sealing well is vital for optimal performance. When you first install your stove and down the road if you notice that closing the air controls does little to dampen the fire, follow these steps to check for a good seal and adjust as needed. Tiny Wood Stove GAS FIREPLACE UPDATE!
Переглядів 3,8 тис.2 роки тому
We've been working on a small Direct-Vent Gas Fireplace heater for sometime and we're rounding the corner towards completion. Here's a quick look of our prototype to-date and where we are at in the development process. This propane gas option is a great back heat source for small off-grid applications. The milivolt thermostat (which doesn't use any outside power) can help fill in the gaps aroun...

Bought mine today. I’ll get it installed in the bus when it arrives and post a video
With the wood hear how do you keep the water lines from freezing.
It's the only downside to their stoves. Cannot believe that they haven't changed this.
That looks neat! Is there a wet back option to connect to the hot water cylinder...?
That sounds like a great idea, this version doesn't offer it though. Something we need to put on the R&D list!
@@tinywoodstove Yes please do and let me know when it is available. Something as simple as a copper tube in a loop with inlet and outlet ports on/through the fire box is all it needs...
Cookies looked perfect 😊 ❤

A urine separator is totally unnecessqry.
While it may not be "necessary", it is extremely beneficial to the user. Combining the urine with the solids is what creates a smelly mess most prefer to avoid with composting toilets and it requires more frequent emptying. Also, separating the urine allows you to better utilize this resource on fruit trees and other plants that benefit from supplemental phosphorous and nitrogen.
What size pizza are you able to fit in there?
The oven's internal dimensions are W 11-1/8″ x D 10-1/2″ x H 12″. Hope that helps!

Hey Nick! I knew you could do it! Sooo, when exactly did you update the oven with a rear flue exit option? If ya remember, that was the only reason I didn't order the oven with my 5KW in 2020. Still lovin' my 5KW, BTW. Keeps the sailboat toasty for 12 to 13 hrs with one load of 5 of the smaller Facto compressed sawdust logs. Anyhoo, you should be on the lookout for me adding the oven to my 5KW, should I suddenly have an extra few bucks kicking around,. Cheers!
Thanks for your confidence in us! The new oven that allows for a rear exit on the stove (the oven is no longer part of the flue) was just released for purchase in June and we expect to be shipping them in September.
I would of gotten this set up but you stayed out of the oven part for a really long time and I was needing the oven part so ended up getting the grizzly mini with the roaster and the water heater
We understand! The 5kW stove is significantly bigger than the Grizzly so if the cubic is meeting your heating needs, the combo would have probably been too much heat for you. It's great to have an oven option but not super helpful if it makes your space 90F.
Very nice
Where does one Acquire a dwarfen cooking stone
We hope to have them available when the ovens arrive!
And does the 4kw have one yet? 😊
@@marlakbaum4914 we don't have plans to make an oven for the smaller 3kW and 4kW stoves. As you can see in the video, the wiggle room around the cooking tools is already very minimal so an even smaller oven would not be compatible with typical cooking needs. You can still cook on top of the 3kW and 4kW stoves and we have a small 9" dutch oven available that can be placed on top for light baking if you have a rear exit. Feel free to email us at Support@TinyWoodStove.com for further questions.
😉👌
Can you share a link to the stove you have?
This is the 5kW CookStove Combo found here: www.tinywoodstove.com/product/dwarf-cookstove/ You can also use the Dwarf 5kW wood stove without the oven if you don't have a baking need.
I'm going on my 3rd North Ohio Winter in my Tiny House....Dwarf 4Kw....she is still as new as the day I got it....ZERO issues with anything....I've about worn out my two Tiny Woostove T-shirts....I wish they made them like their woodstoves.....lol
Where can I find heat shield for the dwaft 3k light?
The Lite version doesn't have the bells and whistles of the Standard so the standard heat shield we make won't work with the Lite. You can see how other DIY heat shields can be made and their clearance reductions here: www.tinywoodstove.com/how-to-build-heat-shields-for-wood-stoves/
Got it!
I was hoping to see you turn this stove down to a dull roar. Seems so just at the end of the video, but the glass was black. Can you point me to a video of your stoves damping capability. I'm looking for a well built tight stove that's not 4k like the Kimberly. Yours is close, I'm hopeful but need to see it
We don't have a video of the entire overnight burn but the multiple air controls give you full control over how low you wish to burn the stove. If you're in the Idaho area, send us an email and we can schedule a time for you to come by.
Looks great, a rough ETA?
We've been focusing our efforts on bringing a new composting toilet to market and getting the re-design of our Oven finalized and available so haven't made much progress on the gas stove lately. We hope to be able to dedicate more time to the project later this year. Currently our rough estimate for bringing this to market would be 2025.
I have a stove slightly larger than a Cubic stove, but have a 3" double walled flue. I have burned compressed logs most days and some nights for a little over a month, with a little oak as well. My flue plugged up with dry ash enough that my draft was substantially reduced and smoky. Cleaned my flue and cap and draft is back to normal. It seems odd that it would ash up that much so quickly. Any suggestions what I might be doing wrong?
3" pipe can require more frequent cleanings so it's not that odd to hear you had to clean it after a few months of use. It might help to get a flue thermometer to ensure you're burns are landing within the optimal range for your Cubic stove (typically in the 300-500 range).
So, the purpose of the strap is to keep logs standing while you chopping them?
Yes, it keeps them upright and orderly so you can make multiple chops without having to reset each chunk of wood every time you split it.
Break n burn too expensive. I use newspapers and tree bark or kindling sticks then add the smaller chunks then like you bigger chunks
That's another great option!
didnt show how u air sealed it
Wood stove flues aren't air-sealed because they operate on a natural draft as opposed to forced-air systems like propane and pellet stoves. Customers seal the penetration with a silicone boot to keep the weather out but there is no need to 'air-seal' a wood stove or woodstove flue system.
@@tinywoodstove what do you mean? I'm talking about air sealing it in the attic.
Great stuff, when you set the controls for over overnight burns, what does the temperature thermometer read? Thanks.
We haven't documented the flue temps just experimented with how long of a burn we can achieve. Typically, we try to keep flue temps around 400-500 at the beginning of the burn but it obviously decreases as the burn continues.
What are the max log sizes? I would love to get a small footprint stove that can load standard 16 inch logs. So, that probably means a tall stove that can take logs stacked vertically.
The Dwarf 3kW burns chunks of wood 6-8", the 4kW 8-10", and the 5kW 10-12". That does mean you have to cut standard logs in half, but it's worth it to us to have a stove that isn't oversized for the space!
@@tinywoodstove Thanks!
I live in a 6x12 enclosed trailer and im thinking of getting this stove for the first big upgrade to my trailer....i live in the mountains and it gets cold and wet up here
We'd be happy to help with your heating needs! The volume of your space, insulation, and winter temps will determine your heating needs. You can use our Stove Size Calculator on our website or you can email this information to Support@TinyWoodStove.com and we can help not only size the stove but also help design a flue system for you.
@@tinywoodstove wow thank you I will be looking into it more
WRONG WRONG WRONG you moron Male end ALWAYS go out Clean the pipe as you should it's no problem. Or have 2nd burn system is better.
How big of a hole is needed to be drilled for the wall thimble to pass through the wall?
That depends on your setup and the size of stove you have. Your Tiny Wood Stove comes with instructions on how to determine the size, or just send us an email at support@tinywoodstove.com so our stove experts can take a look at your setup and let you know what size hole you need 🙂🔥
How warm is it getting in your home? What is the square footage of the home?
Every house is different due to climate, insulation, setup and backup heat options. To find out which stove works best for your specific setup you can try our BTU calculator here: tinywoodstove.com/btu You can send the results directly to our team of Tiny Wood Stove specialists to discuss them and figure out a setup for your home 🔥
Can you take a 4 KW directly the rear through the wall? This would allow you to eliminate the elbow, presuming that it is high enough above the ground at the exit, proper clearances as indicated in manual.
Hi Mike! Yes you can, with the rear exit and wall exit kit. You can find them in our shop, and you can design your setup with our friendly flue robot Floo (and send us the results automatically so the humans can take a look and help you with your design). Here's the link: www.tinywoodstove.com/floo/
I.m sure This wont be seen by you, but I keep seeing these small stoves with no flue pipe dampers. Why is that ? I always had a damper in my pipe to help control the burn and in case of a chimney fire I could shut down the fire.
That's a great question! Our Dwarf Stoves have three separate air controls built into the stove itself so that is how we control the rate of burn as opposed to a damper in the flue itself. We restrict the air coming in, instead of restricting the flue gasses going out. Let us know if you have any other questions!
Can a poly dryer vent brush be used to clean stainless steel chimney liner?
You can give it a try but we prefer the more rigid brushes like the one used in our video and available on our website. Typically, the dryer vent brushes are not as heavy-duty as those intended for wood stove use.
What’s the square footage this little guy covers?
We try to avoid square footage ratings on our stoves. You ideally want to look at the volume of your space (HxWxL), the insulation level, and temp rise (outside temps v. Inside temps). A 300-square-foot space in Texas would only need a fraction of the stove that same size space would need in Montana. All that to be said, we're hoping to have our larger version of the gas stove in the 4kW range and the smaller in the 2kW range. You can take a look at our BTU Calculator to get an idea of where you might fall for your space. www.tinywoodstove.com/btu/
The title says Dwarf 4 kW, but the stove has only one air control. The stove shown on the website with a single air control is the Dwarf 3 kW Lite. The current (as of 3 Nov 23) pictures of the Dwarf 4 kW show it with two air controls. Did something change, or is the stove shown in the clip, the 3 kW Lite?
Great observation! Yes, the Dwarf 4kw used to have only one air control back in the days. We've since improved the design and burn efficiency by adding a second air control🔥
Just ordered mine 😁
Wohoo!🔥
Just ordered my 4kw with the airbox.
Do you install it?
We don't do installations but the stove will be easy enough for any DIYer. You can also reach out to local gas/fireplace installers in your area to inquire about their ability to install the stove.
Hey I'm hoping you guys will respond to this. I would like to put one of these inside a mantle, the trouble is the chimney is 35 ft tall, do you think it will work in that scenario?
A masonry chimney and 35' of flue can present some unique issues so it would be best to send us an email at Support@TinyWoodStove.com. That way we can discuss in more detail the various things we'll want to account for with a setup of that nature. Thanks!
@@tinywoodstoveemail sent!!! Thank you guys!
Good, not bulky.

Thank you! Mine was jammed when we detached it for a fix and I needed this. Easy as pie.
Glad it helped!
These look well-made and beautiful. Going to your website NOW !
Let us know if you have any questions! 🔥
Thank you. Exactly what I needed to learn.
Glad it was helpful!
Still waiting for an update of when the stove will be available with the oven. Please release the stove with the oven!
We're working on it! We'll send an update with the newsletter soon, did you sign up? www.tinywoodstove.com/product/dwarf-cookstove/ 🔥
hello can i use a double wall pipe for the entire pipe instead of a single then adaper then double like you are doing?
Our 5kW stove that will be compatible with the oven has a round flange. You'll want to have the flue connect to the back of the stove so the oven can be added on top later. Hope that helps.
You should design one with a rock basket on top that can be used in a small sauna.
That basket is a great idea, but did you see our Sauna setups? www.tinywoodstove.com/hugothebiggreenvan-overland-sauna-trailer-2/
I never received my order after several emails no one has contacted me about where my composting kits are.
Angie, I apologize for the confusion and I understand your concern about where your product is. Your order was packed and a label was created on Thursday the 8th.
