How to clean your Tiny Wood Stove Flue System
Переглядів 4,4 тис.Рік тому
The most important ongoing maintenance task for your wood stove is to keep the flue system clean. As you use your stove, some smoke will condense inside the flue system and form creosote, a flammable tar-like substance. Too much creosote buildup can increase your risk of a chimney fire. You will need to inspect your flue system on a regular basis and clean it as often as necessary. The frequenc...
Checking Air Controls for a Good Seal
Переглядів 772Рік тому
Ensuring the air control paddles on your stove are sealing well is vital for optimal performance. When you first install your stove and down the road if you notice that closing the air controls does little to dampen the fire, follow these steps to check for a good seal and adjust as needed. Dwarf 5kw Cookstove - Oven Installation (Previous Version).
It's a great thing when you get Pay it forward
We want the 5k but we have a 288 sqft space. I worried that we'll run too hot. Website calculator says we qualify for the 5k but towards the bottom of the supplied range. Our problem is that we want the oven so the 5k needs to work out or no oven.
Send us an email at Support@TinyWoodStove.com and we can discuss your heating needs further. Square footage is one factor in the heating decision but overall volume and temp rise is another big factor. Not to mention how you plan to use the space. While the oven is a great feature, it won't be beneficial if it makes your living space 90+ degrees while you're trying to cook. We like to use the smallest stove that can adequately heat your space so you can burn hot, clean fires throughout the year. We look forward to hearing more about your project!
I live in a single wide i need this for this winter tired of kerosean to exspensive
We'd love to help! Send us an email at Support@TinyWoodStoves.com and we'll help with your heating needs.
what's the best length of wood to burn?
The bigger the firebox, the more fuel you can load, so the longer the burn time you can get. The Dwarf 3kW burns chunks of wood 6-8", the 4kW 8-10", and the 5kW (the stove in this video) 10-12". Hope this helps!
What do you use the clean the hot ash out of the stove?
Our stoves come with a removable ash pan installed! Simply pull it out with the lever and dump it in a fireproof container!
Hi, what size stove is used in this video?
This tiny house is utilizing the Dwarf 5kW stove. We have three different sizes to meet a range of heating needs. Check out our Stove Size Calculator (www.tinywoodstove.com/btu/) to see which Dwarf Stove will best meet your needs or email us at Support@TinyWoodStove.com

Thank you!!! This company is fantastic and customer service is 100%
If you could have an optional add-on for multiple fins welded to the top so a fan could have more surface area when it blows over the back to front that would be awesomeness
What size door gasket are you guys using on the tiny wood stove😊
Astronomical
This is bigger than the older one 7 years ago. This is nice but I like the smaller one though.
We put a lot of R&D in our new oven, and while this one is bigger it's also way more efficient and creates a great baking and cooking environment without overheating your home! 🔥🍪
Is this still sold out?
🖖
Love this unit however the price is extremely hard to justify making the purchase.
Awesome!✌️
Ty
Wow. Thanks for showing us the WHOLE thing, what an amazing tour. Also there are different sizes of family so maybe let everyone know just how many people exactly.
Bought mine today. I’ll get it installed in the bus when it arrives and post a video
With the wood hear how do you keep the water lines from freezing.
It's the only downside to their stoves. Cannot believe that they haven't changed this.
Cookies looked perfect 😊 ❤

A urine separator is totally unnecessqry.
While it may not be "necessary", it is extremely beneficial to the user. Combining the urine with the solids is what creates a smelly mess most prefer to avoid with composting toilets and it requires more frequent emptying. Also, separating the urine allows you to better utilize this resource on fruit trees and other plants that benefit from supplemental phosphorous and nitrogen.
What size pizza are you able to fit in there?
The oven's internal dimensions are W 11-1/8″ x D 10-1/2″ x H 12″. Hope that helps!
garlic s0urd0ugh 🤤
Where does one Acquire a dwarfen cooking stone
We hope to have them available when the ovens arrive!
And does the 4kw have one yet? 😊
@@marlakbaum4914 we don't have plans to make an oven for the smaller 3kW and 4kW stoves. As you can see in the video, the wiggle room around the cooking tools is already very minimal so an even smaller oven would not be compatible with typical cooking needs. You can still cook on top of the 3kW and 4kW stoves and we have a small 9" dutch oven available that can be placed on top for light baking if you have a rear exit. Feel free to email us at Support@TinyWoodStove.com for further questions.
😉👌
Can you share a link to the stove you have?
This is the 5kW CookStove Combo found here: www.tinywoodstove.com/product/dwarf-cookstove/ You can also use the Dwarf 5kW wood stove without the oven if you don't have a baking need.

I'm going on my 3rd North Ohio Winter in my Tiny House....Dwarf 4Kw....she is still as new as the day I got it....ZERO issues with anything....I've about worn out my two Tiny Woostove T-shirts....I wish they made them like their woodstoves.....lol
Where can I find heat shield for the dwaft 3k light?
The Lite version doesn't have the bells and whistles of the Standard so the standard heat shield we make won't work with the Lite. You can see how other DIY heat shields can be made and their clearance reductions here: www.tinywoodstove.com/how-to-build-heat-shields-for-wood-stoves/
Got it!
I was hoping to see you turn this stove down to a dull roar. Seems so just at the end of the video, but the glass was black. Can you point me to a video of your stoves damping capability. I'm looking for a well built tight stove that's not 4k like the Kimberly. Yours is close, I'm hopeful but need to see it
We don't have a video of the entire overnight burn but the multiple air controls give you full control over how low you wish to burn the stove. If you're in the Idaho area, send us an email and we can schedule a time for you to come by.
Looks great, a rough ETA?
We've been focusing our efforts on bringing a new composting toilet to market and getting the re-design of our Oven finalized and available so haven't made much progress on the gas stove lately. We hope to be able to dedicate more time to the project later this year. Currently our rough estimate for bringing this to market would be 2025.
I have a stove slightly larger than a Cubic stove, but have a 3" double walled flue. I have burned compressed logs most days and some nights for a little over a month, with a little oak as well. My flue plugged up with dry ash enough that my draft was substantially reduced and smoky. Cleaned my flue and cap and draft is back to normal. It seems odd that it would ash up that much so quickly. Any suggestions what I might be doing wrong?
3" pipe can require more frequent cleanings so it's not that odd to hear you had to clean it after a few months of use. It might help to get a flue thermometer to ensure you're burns are landing within the optimal range for your Cubic stove (typically in the 300-500 range).
So, the purpose of the strap is to keep logs standing while you chopping them?
Yes, it keeps them upright and orderly so you can make multiple chops without having to reset each chunk of wood every time you split it.
Break n burn too expensive. I use newspapers and tree bark or kindling sticks then add the smaller chunks then like you bigger chunks
That's another great option!
didnt show how u air sealed it
Wood stove flues aren't air-sealed because they operate on a natural draft as opposed to forced-air systems like propane and pellet stoves. Customers seal the penetration with a silicone boot to keep the weather out but there is no need to 'air-seal' a wood stove or woodstove flue system.
@@tinywoodstove what do you mean? I'm talking about air sealing it in the attic.
Great stuff, when you set the controls for over overnight burns, what does the temperature thermometer read? Thanks.
We haven't documented the flue temps just experimented with how long of a burn we can achieve. Typically, we try to keep flue temps around 400-500 at the beginning of the burn but it obviously decreases as the burn continues.
What are the max log sizes? I would love to get a small footprint stove that can load standard 16 inch logs. So, that probably means a tall stove that can take logs stacked vertically.
The Dwarf 3kW burns chunks of wood 6-8", the 4kW 8-10", and the 5kW 10-12". That does mean you have to cut standard logs in half, but it's worth it to us to have a stove that isn't oversized for the space!
@@tinywoodstove Thanks!
I live in a 6x12 enclosed trailer and im thinking of getting this stove for the first big upgrade to my trailer....i live in the mountains and it gets cold and wet up here
We'd be happy to help with your heating needs! The volume of your space, insulation, and winter temps will determine your heating needs. You can use our Stove Size Calculator on our website or you can email this information to Support@TinyWoodStove.com and we can help not only size the stove but also help design a flue system for you.
@@tinywoodstove wow thank you I will be looking into it more
WRONG WRONG WRONG you moron Male end ALWAYS go out Clean the pipe as you should it's no problem. Or have 2nd burn system is better.
How big of a hole is needed to be drilled for the wall thimble to pass through the wall?
That depends on your setup and the size of stove you have. Your Tiny Wood Stove comes with instructions on how to determine the size, or just send us an email at support@tinywoodstove.com so our stove experts can take a look at your setup and let you know what size hole you need 🙂🔥
