Deciding that our dreams weren't just for some unknown distant date in the future, we loaded up our (then) 4 girls in a camper and took the trip of a lifetime.
After 108 days of driving 22K+ miles and 48 states, we've settled down in the beautiful Southern Appalachia!
Our land was once a thriving homestead and there are signs and hidden treasures everywhere, however it is in disrepair and needs a lot of love, luckily that's just what we're here for!
We're living in converted sheds for now and the plan is to keep it simple and cozy and once we're a bit more established on our homestead we will begin building our home in the mountains!
Come along with us as we build our homestead and trust what God has planned for us. It will be bumpy and we promise to make lots of mistakes, but together is where we want to be and we're doing just that!

We're almost completely finished with this barn build and I cant wait to show you the entire thing! For now, we've got to utilize all the water coming off this roof with some gutters. Our plan is to catch the water in twin IBC tanks to keep for watering the cows. :) We also get a new railing on the deck steps and take care of some chicken chores! 😘 The Holt Family

Solving Chicken Issues | Family Barn Building

Hey Friends, We're keeping busy building this barn in time for Maggie the Jersey to calf in September. Its a family affair and the girls LOVE to help! Also, on the list is containing our flocks of chickens who have decided that the fenced areas are not enough for them. We're fortifying their diets (and tricking them into containment) using Black Soldier Fry Larvae from GrubTerra, a company with...
We're Building a Barn!

We're getting prepared for Maggie our cow to calf in September. We decided to make a warm and dry place for her by building a "mini" barn. We will also need a place to house her calf once we start separating and since our big barn isn't ready to be trusted, this is the solution we came up with! Enjoy! The Holt Fam

We haven't been for a long time, so this was quite the adventure to do again, we will definitely be going again soon! Enjoy! The Holt Family

Owning our mistakes is never easy, (especially sharing them with all of you)! The fact about taking the risk to move out here and do things with our own hands is that we aren't experts. We aren't even very good at some of these things, but we're learning through our mistakes. 😁 Hope you enjoy the video! The Holt Family

Such a joy to watch thse yun-guns work together and a great job on da barn!
Man-o-man if-n-i could work that fast i thin i would do it for a living, I could build 20 a day & still have time for relax & recoup! lol you did a great job there ya young whippersnapper!!!
I use to mix a lot of cement in the wheel barrow until i started putting it in the hole then add the water and use a big rooster bar to mix it! oh to the city folks thats a crow bar, lol
Don't know you are doing it in 10 minutes maybe 10 hours for a good job
Beyond impressive
PO I
About what the cost of materials and dimensions please
just saw you on a food truck, Bri and Art, Art was talking to you.
Did y'all have to get a building permit? Thanks for sharing this!
Prayers you are okay after Helene? We have just found your channel. You’ve done such good work but we saw no posts this last year but thought I’d comment anyway. Prayers.

Long hair and drills don’t go together.
Thank you! I am going to be trying this soon! I'll let you know how it goes!
What did that cost y’all for supplies? Looking to do something very similar
Coulda bought 1x2 or 2x2 rather than cut a 2x4 in half! I'm doing this and it did turn out good, nice job!
Nice job!
Great Job guys!😇!😇!😇!😇!
Wow! Nice work. Imagine doing all of that work before we had cordless drills and power tools!
Love the video, I’m about to do the exact same thing.
Big green egg!!!!
Great work. Pretty sad the women & “men” who help sell the materials for this earn more then the hard workers creating things from it.
Класс надо и себе так сделать.
Gonna be cold in the winter...and hopefully no critters
Where did you get your hog paneling from?
❤❤❤🎉😮👍👍👍🤝👈
Impressive perseverance and fence
Where did you buy the hog panel from?
Tractor supply sells them
What are the dimensions of this barn? I would love to build one
Many thanks for the video. Is that green Douglas Fir you are using, or something else? And 4x4s at the end corners, as well as elsewhere along the railings?
