Always look forward to the Olympics.
Wonderful good luck
When the 1984 Summer OLYMPICS were in Los Angeles, I drove a friend to Pomona where he was attending CalPoly-Pomona.... along the freeway, there were a few signs for turn offs to OLYMPIC events.... my buddy wondered what might happen if we stopped and took one of those signs for a souvenir....? We didn't. Neither one of us had any desire to see what the inside of the LA County Jail... ;-)
That is a good story 😀. Good luck
Oh how lovely it would be to win the give away and find a special spot in my collections to have those lovely Olympic stamps😅
Well I wish you good luck
I have a sport topical collection which I believe those Olympic stamps would be a great addition. ❤
I think they would be a perfect fit
Zach nice french stamps. Some pause!
It was nice he could unknowingly add to the giveaway
You got a nice variety of stamps from Zach to enjoy. French stamps are beautiful, especially the earlier ones. It is lovely to just even look at them. I became interested in French stamps that won the Grand Prix de l'Art Philetalique, and those are exceptionally beautiful. Thanks for the video, Rob. 🙂
My pleasure and i hope whoever wins will enjoy them also
I have a question for you. I collect US Plate Blocks. A couple of months ago I was at a stamp show and one dealer had 2 Canadian Plate Blocks from 1939. I did not realize that Canada had Plate Blocks but they were very inexpensive so I purchased them. Now I am thinking about collecting Canadian Plate Blocks. Do you know anything about them or do you have any for sale or trade? I only collect up through 1969.
I’m afraid I am not an active collector of blocks or sheets. I have a couple but I am by far not an expert on them. Hipstamp and ebay are a couple options for looking for them if you like

There was a movie made about Boys Town in 1938 it is based on Father Edward J. Flanagan's work with a group of underprivileged boys in a home/educational complex that he founded and named "Boys Town" in Nebraska. It stars Spencer Tracy as Father Edward J. Flanagan, and Mickey Rooney. Great movie and wonderful story.

Boystown issues seals every year but just like Easter Seals they are not listed in Scott. Scott only lists Christmas Seals. I see you got an Apollo-Soyuz Mr Zip block of 4. I love Mr Zip and am collecting all his blocks of 4. There are 4 different Mr Zip positions on stamps.
@@Robertbrown08049 ok that you for letting me know a bit more about Boys Town seals
Hi Rob, cool stamps and postcards. Like you, I think the Hedgehog postcard rules! A couple of notes, just in case they're useful. 06:14 I would class this as a commemorative cover rather than a First Day Cover. A first day cover is one where the stamp is postmarked on its first day of issue and I suspect the stamp was issued prior to the date stamp on the cover. I'm not an expert on the QEII Wilding stamps, and the stamp on the cover MAY be a variety issued on that date, but I'd go with commemorative cover as it seems to be more about the Mayflower and less about the stamp. Still nice to have though. (The postmark says it's the maiden voyage, so this would be of the Mayflower replica which was built.) 08:08 If I remember correctly, the box attached on the right of the pillar box was used for dispensing stamps. You put your money into one of the slots and a stamp or booklet of stamps would fall down to the little window which you could open to get your stamps - just like any drinks machine these days, though with somewhat less technology involved. It also looks like this one might give change. These were relatively common when I lived in England (briefly) as a young lad. I don't remember having seen any the last time I was in the UK, so definitely a piece of postal history there.
Very convient to have a stamp dispenser next to the post box

Hi Rob, nice selection of stamps. A few notes on the Cypriot stamps. Please note that the name Cyprus appears on all recent stamps in the three official languages of Cyprus: Greek, Turkish and English. The reason will hopefully be understood as you read on: 05:41 These are Cypriot Refugee Welfare Tax stamps. I was putting something together about these for you, but I'll give you some info here. For many years the population of Cyprus was a mix of ethnic Greeks and ethnic Turks, who migrated there dure the period of Cyprus's inclusion in the Ottoman Empire. Just prior to the fall of the Ottoman Empire, Britain took administrative control of the island. In consequent years there was a movement for Cyprus to become a part of Greece. This was rejected by the Turkish Cypriot population, but the movement continued after Independence in 1960, eventually leading to tensions and clashes between the two communities until the island was partitioned into Turkish Northern Cyprus and Greek Southern Cyprus in 1974. The partitioning led to many ethnic Greeks fleeing south while ethnic Turks moved north. Since that time it has been mandatory to put these refugee tax stamps on all mail in the Greek part of Cyprus. The first such stamp was created by overprinting a definitive stamp and a little later a stamp with a mother and child was produced. Several years later, the iconic image that is on most of these stamps was produced. Later on, as stocks of these ran out new versions were made with the same design, but with different coloured backgrounds. So, the 1974 that is on all of these stamps refers to the year of partition. To find which year the stamps were issued, you need to look at the date in the lower right-hand corner of the stamps. Currently new tax stamps are released every year. Money raised by the use of these stamps goes toward housing for refugees for the north, education for the children of refugees, etc. So despite the fact that the partitioning occurred 50 years ago, these stamps still have to be attached to all mail (letters, postcards, parcels, etc.) posted in Cyprus. Originally the stamps cost 1 Cypriot cent (there were 100 cents to the Cypriot Pound, worth more than the British pound!). When the Euro was introduced, this became 2 Euro cents. 06:15 The 10m stamp was the original value with this design. At the time there were 1000 mils to the Cyprus Pound. This later changed to the aforementioned 100 cents to the pound, so the 10m and 1c were equivalent in value and again this is roughly equivalent to 2 Euro cents.
@@stephenogier7499 very good history on these stamps thank you.
Very interesting and informative!
