Wow!!!! That set of bird stamps from Belgium ( 5:27 ) is to die for and definitely my favourite!!!!! Magnificently beautiful! All the fauna and fungi stamps from Belgium are really beautiful, though. It is a wonderful gift of Belgium stamps from Peter!!! Interesting stamps from the Ukraine. The postcards and all the other things Vera sent you are so nice! Love the clown maxi card. All in all what lovely wonderful gifts!!! Thanks, Rob. I enjoyed this video a lot!!!!

You got some nice things and made a great video out of it 👍🏻 The Ukrainian stamps are really great, I have some of them too. They convey their messages to the world!
I hope Smokey doesn't get too scared by the clown when he watches your video 🤣😱🫣
Thanks for your presentation, as always!

I gotta watch this video again because after hearing, "NS Lady von Busem," I forgot everything else.😂 I asked Siri for the German pronunciation, and it pronounced busem like it rhymes with "gruesome." Vera, aka herring salad, could tell us for sure. Loved all the stamps and postcards from today. I really wanted the French scratch and sniff baguette stamp but I couldn't justify spending money to have it shipped to me.🥖😊🗼

Interesting that I was coming in here to get your address because a dear friend gifted me some multiples of postage stamps that I thought you might enjoy. Quite a few years ago the US had scratch & sniff stamps...if I remember correctly, they were popsicles. Fun to use. Thanks for your videos. I still need to join Postcrossing, but this year I'm busy writing postcards to voters for this very important election in November where Democracy is on the line.

I vaguely remember those popsicle stamps I think. Thank you in advance for the mail surprise. Good luck in your election

Fabulous surprises. Speaking of the Birdie stamps from Belgie, they probably are ones issued over a period of time and I seem to have many of them in mints, used too. The designer of these stamp series is Andre Buzin, and if I were to pick any one stamp series in the world they gotta be these, so I was especially pleased seeing them on your podcast :) The love for this series was initiated back in time, like around 17 years ago when I befriended a gentleman in Brugge and we had a lot of swaps since, and I have retained every cover received from him. I also like the cartoon stamps he sent you, and particularly Tintin as I collect stamps/minisheets on the intrepid reporter as well.
The Ukrainian woman I appreciate for her efforts on research to go with the stamps sent. I wonder if she collects and swaps stamps too.
The German lady has been very thoughtful I must say to think of your family to go with her bunch of surprises.

Great gifts, Rob! It must have been great to open up the mail and discover that you are much appreciated.
A few notes that may be of interest to you:
03:57 The 0.42/17... stamps would have been issued in the years just prior to the introduction of the Euro currency in 2002. The 0.42 was 42 Euro cents and the 17 was 17 Belgian Francs, which was pretty much the equivalent at that time.
04:30 These larger stamps were from booklets of the 4 designs with a single pane with one of each stamp. There was also a booklet of cat stamps and a booklet of wildflower stamps (off the top of my head). I love the designs of these stamps - really good artwork (in my opinion). Yes, I do have the mushroom stamps, but thank you for thinking of me. (FYI: There were two more sets similar to these and issued around the same time one with larger wild animals: red deer, wild boar, etc. and one with butterflies. Again, really beautiful images, but not issued in booklets, though you could be forgiven for thinking that they might be.)
05:12 Not that the Olympic stamps are also denominated in Euro cents and Belgian francs.
05:25 The André Buzin bird definitive stamps have been around since 1985 with a number of issues denominated in Belgian Francs. From 2000 they were printed with dual currency values and then from 2002 they were issued denominated in Euros (and Euro cents). Rather like Machins there are quite a few varieties (including paper type). Very nice stamps indeed!
14:18 on the right-hand coupon there is a blue sign that says "Crimean Bridge". What's written on the black means "Good Luck!"
16:12 What is being grated on the stamps on the cover is Spassky Tower in the Moscow Kremlin. In Russia, Spassky Tower is an icon of the same significance as the Sydney Opera House in Australia, The Houses of Parliament in Britain, the Eiffel Tower or Notre Dame in France, the Brandenburg Gate in Germany, etc. so this stamp would be extremely meaningful to Russians. Very political and certainly sends a message! The F+16 is also the stamps value. Many Ukrainian stamps have a letter denominator (U = Ukraine??) F=????? (Foreign??????). I presume the 16 is Gryvnia (the local currency).
22:48 This Blue Cat card (the one with the cake) is actually an Easter card. One clue is the coloured eggs, the other clue is the cake. The cake is a special Easter cake called kulich which is usually eaten with a cream cheese concoction called paskha (which means Easter!). The kulich tends to be a bit dry, so best eaten with a cup of tea, but the paskha is to die for - definitely finger lickin' yummy!!!
DON'T eat the scratch and sniff stamps, Rob! You'll get indigestion. In 2003 Russia also issued a set of fragrant fruit stamps. Actually you could amass quite a collection of just aromatic stamps. (Not all scratch and sniff.) Unfortunately, the scent tends to diminish with time.
