I have so many of the old Ork vehicles, mostly metal but a few of those Trukks. I always wanted the 2nd edition Ork Battle Wagon but never got one, still looking though! :) I should pull them all out of boxes one day to see what I have.

My LGS owner friend gave me a Gorkamorka Trukk for my last birthday - I completed the paint job and stuck it on a homemade base to chunk the size up a bit for games ^^

When I first got into Orks with a secondhand copy of Black Reach I was not that fond of the old Ork models. But over the years I’ve began to appreciate the classic designs more and more. I’ve been lucky enough to buy a classic Ork battlion box practically on sprue. And I scored some more old metal models in lots that I’ve bought. I have a decent collection of retro orks that I have a dream to one day build a retro ork army in a retro scheme. I even have some mdf kits to construct retro terrain as well.

What's really good to know is that their tire model has remained the same across decades haha - you can still find those tires on the Outriders and ATV!

I've never liked any of the modern GW space orks or fantasy orcs, the plastic ones are too wide, too chonky at the shoulders, and their faces are too big. I think the design went downhill when GW started making all their orcs/orks as multipart; I think greenskins work best as monopose models.

Ya the trukk is deceivingly big. They take a while to get painted. I dont like that it doesnt come with a base, i really like having a base to hold the model while painting so im not rubbing away my work with my greesey meat paws

The trukk is one of the most orky kits we have u can make everything from that model but yeah it's massive at the scale it is the battle wagon should be bigger than a baneblade lol

Ahh, I've got a couple trucks from way back in the day. Funny enough I use Rhinos as my trukks to fit my deathskulls theme. I'm thinking of adding bitz over the orks in the old trukk to cover them up, then run it as a Ridgerunner for my small Genestealer Cult army. Then again, the old ork drivers are just dopey enough to potentially just call mutated humans lol. Thanks for reminding me to increase the visual profile of my looted trukks.

Wasn't that the rule for old battlewagon? I had no idea it was the rule for the trukk, too. I'e got dozens of them, had my orks since the 90s....could not afford to upgrade them all, :)

I finally own my own gorkamorka trukk as of a few weeks ago, picked on up in the vendor hall at Las Vegas Open. I knew it was small, but, yeah, it is driven by Yoofs!! still, makes me happy. Gorkamorka released during the short 30 year hiatus I took from 40k, so I'm glad to own some of the models from it.

I really like the trukk model but it is a big footprint on the tabletop, the battlewagon is barely any bigger.

Err, akchewally I fink you'll find that if you compare the OG metal Ghazzy to the noo plakky Ghazzy - just sayin (extra hilarity is that spellcheck on U-Toob reckons that 'ackchewally' has the red wiggly underscore indicating a spelling mistake whereas 'akchewally' is just fine). The trukk is supposed to carry 10 boyz (or maybe 12) but you have to dump them in cos there's not enuff standing room (especially with the new bases) - then again, the old trukk was designed for GorkaMorka and the GoMo boyz came on tiny bases. Best thing about the new trukk is what else you can make with it if you consider it as a bag of bitz.

The newer Ork trukk is actually the right scale for late-90's-to-present day Boyz/Space Ork infantry kits as well as with units like warbikers, deffkoptas, deffkilla wartrikes, killa kans and deff dreads, etc.... It's all the other vehicles (the buggies, and all of the battlewagon variants) that are closer to the size of the older Gorkamorka trukk. It always annoyed me, going back to 3rd Edition that the two grot-sized crew members made the thing look like an ork pram. The new trukk in comparison looks like it could hold a dozen or, so actual ork-sized orks crammed in the back and hanging off the sides. What GW actually needs to do is scale up the buggies and all of the other vehicles so that they are the appropriate size to do what it says they can do on the tin. As it is, most of the buggies look like small servings of expensive French dishes on a huge open plate. Let's make that model to base size ratio more like the deff dreads on their comparatively small bases. You would have thought that a billion-dollar toy company would have had enough money and sense to buy a ruler at some point to make sure that things were to scale and that their superhuman space marines in power armor weren't all 5'6" in their moon boots. And sorry for the rant, but 28.5mm bases are the absolute dumbest thing GW has ever done. Just put them on 32's already! The 3.5mm difference is negligible. I can barely tell 25s and 28.5s apart when they are in the same bits bag. 25mm to 32mm makes perfect sense. Baseline Ork models (and Tyranid hormagaunts and termagants) should have been on 32s from the start. Instead, Nid players have had to waste time, glue and pennies on their bases for over three decades now.

Armies on parade is for them selling sets bottom line. They want to show case all of the models you can buy out of box. It's a pure corporate decision. This is what it has become and not what was intended

GW’s spilt between their departments is the stupidest thing imaginable

One of the most prominent minor guard regiments of the last decade are the Ventrilian Nobles, constantly featured in codizes and warcom articles, both in photos and in art; built from cadians and Empire Pistoliers. Similar situation: the Miasman Redcowls, built from cadians and Wildwood Rangers. The idea that you're no longer """allowed""" to do this is insanity. GW used to be a company run by creatives - now its run by IP lawyers, brand managers and marketing schmucks.

You don't need to save anything. People need to stop being indebted to the idea that they can only build art pieces for GW promos. I really don't see why we aren't encouraging more Independent contests or giving those projects equal attention to GW shill events. Obviously whatever GW wants or wants to encourage is completely irrelevant after your purchase is already made, so why do we care about them sabotaging their own event?

Creativity is not good for a consumer culture. No conversions for you!! No space skaven or Slaan inspired old one force. FORBIDDEN!!
