Thought Bomb Design
Приєднався 8 жов 2015
I have been a Mechanical Engineer for a long time now and through this channel I want to share all the little tips and tricks I have picked up over the years. Some videos will be aimed at those looking to get a good basic understanding of physics or mechanics; some will be aimed at professionals looking to learn something new; and some will be for the hackers and tinkerers out there! In no way do I think I am the best engineer or designer in the world, so I also hope to get some back and forth going with those that are interested.

Is Mechanical Engineering Right For You
Great video! I needed this advice now that I'm going hard on the job search and feeling a little nervous
Oh good. I'm so glad to help!
Bless you child!
As an undergrad student this is very valuable knowledge. Thank you!
I have a Champagne Spanish speaking Furby. I saw the wires leading from the reset button to the battery posts needed to be resoldered and I was able to do that, but then something weird happened. It speaks fine, but won't move. I have no idea if another wire that's for movement has detached somewhere. Can you help me with this issue? Thank you
I had a good time taking him apart but I am no futby expert, sorry... Good luck!
i sometimes have a hard time with appearances not enabling or showing when i render parts.
Yeah, it depends on whether you apply appearances on parts, part bodies, surfaces,... Sometimes I have to just 'remove all appearances' from a part and start over so I can make sure it works
Hello, whats the progress?
Unfortunately not much..... I will get back to it but other stuff has come up. Thanks for checking!
As a recent graduate searching for jobs (only being one month searching), i needed to hear these words. I thought I did not have enough skills to enter at this career or the impostor syndrome is hitting me strongest after graduation. At least I will keep what I always was good at, my willingness to learn anything new especially skills or things that I may not be familiar with.
Yes! I'm so glad it helped
thank you for your sacrifice. Now i wonder if there is a space mouse project using led and phototransistor. Most of the project I found still using 4 joystick module to track 6dof
Yeah I don't think so, but it will happen eventually!
7:10 imagine if a furby dose this
7:10 lol it barfed
Hey the eyes is i see the anumalia is the endo eyes in five nights at Freddy's!?

Pretty similar!
I’m currently going into my junior of mechanical engineering. Currently at an internship and I feel so lost. This was definitely a good pick me up. Especially about the grades, I always feel like I’m just squeezing through my classes
That was really helpful thank you
So its basically it ask you to push down and you expect help then betray you by giving you that push up effect that tricks your brain. Basically its useless? Unless your beginner that has no experience with clutch yet
Pretty much! 😂
thanks
you mean .498 right instead of .48
Pro tip: put the words open sauce in the video title for more hits from searches :)
When will race times be announced?
It depends on how many people bring cars but probably 11am and then every hour or so?
Underrated channel
12:09 It's the son of David Cheeseman!

BEWARE OF FURBYS ORIGINAL
and it activates at 3am
this ,old version of furbys they have camereas in them11!!11!!
Cuidado se te puede caer y se puede romper todo😢
Have you used an oscilloscope to map the PCB by any chance? And remembered to record the values?
No, sorry. I wish I kept the remains bc people have questions like that but I didn't even think of it.....
Pleasure to be a part of your campaign and see you see at @OpenSauce then
lol!!😂😂
Can someone explain to me, is this shredder just crap if a croc/baby doll can stop it from moving or would this happen with all these types of shredder?
Haha, the croc and baby doll are though and stretchy which makes them pretty hard to shred. Of course there's always a bigger badder shredder out there but it was designed for pinewood derby cars and they won't stand a chance.
I always wondered how these things have been so consistently expensive over the years compared to other “mouse” type devices. Now I get it.
This is really interesting. But the thing is, 2005s especially are really expensive. That one looked in really good condition so you must've payed a whole bunch for it.
Actually my neighbor was throwing it out and took it out of his trash pile ;)
@@thoughtbombdesign Oh. Honestly I'm 14 and I love furbies they're just goofy little things. I wish I was a 20000's kid or else I would've had one of the 2005s but they're expensive as hell! I do have 2 90's one tho, I actually only have 5 but if I had the ones I lost then I would have 7.
Haha, they are crazy little guys. Good luck on your hunt!
@@thoughtbombdesign Thx!
3 things I had often wished for and did not know how to use until now: Temporary Axis, Width mate to center a part in assembly, Replace parts in assembly. Thank You!
No problem! Those are super useful ones. Have fun! 😁
Ive never done a keyway in steps before. Did it come out well?
Yeah, it seems fine to me. The surface finish looks good at least. I just wanted to be as cautious with material removal as possible.
@@thoughtbombdesign looks fun
What you needed to get the solder on the springs to melt was a blob of fresh solder on the tip of the iron and more fresh solder fed into the connection as it heated. Contact with molten solder conducts heat into the joint far better than tangential contact with the bare iron. Also, adding fresh solder adds fresh flux and flux is what enables solder to flow.
Thanks man! Subscribing because you deserve it 😊
Thanks!
the beak is in an amzing good condition...this part seems to be broken in all devices, the rubber deteroirates. and the expression with the corner of the mouth, smiling or not, really not bad. bummer that they did not develop that direction more...
I hope my car gets shredded this year
I think that can be arranged ;)
Thanks man so much. learned very good tips today.
No problem! Glad to hear it.
This video was recommended at a time I really needed it, thanks for taking the time to make this
I'm so glad to help.
That was actually really insightful as a mechanical engineering intern I realized a lot of things that I do and take for granted were actually important stuff and wrote them down so I can look back later and have something to say. 🙏
Thanks for doing this video, I have been looking at this printer, easy setup, and print job. loved your curing tank
Thanks! It's still chugging away trouble free!
@@thoughtbombdesign Best recommendation you could get.
Great video
Thanks a lot!
now it doesent feel so bad spending 200$ on this thing.... 🤣clever design
I know right!?!?
Am impressed by how they could put all the sensors to the body. And thank u for showing the mehnism
thank u
I haven’t watched the video yet but I want to get a job in the space industry somewhere. I love rockets and spacecraft. It would be my dream job to work with Blue Origin, SpaceX, or Rocket Lab. The problem is that I have internship experience in HVAC and manager roles. I have done some design and fabrication but it’s not impressive. I do have rocketry experience from a club. I feel like I am experiencing imposter syndrome after being turned down to many applications and after seeing my peers get jobs in NG, L3Harris, Honeywell, and RTX. On a positive note, I still have time left to do work that is great for personal growth. I’ve asked people that have been successful say that they have been through something similar and have been aware of it. They’ve made adjustments to their goals to achieve on a regular basis whether it’s learning Ansys on spare time, or finding ways to apply theory to 3D-printed structures. I hope this is helpful to someone that is feeling the same way.
Thanks for sharing! Just a few things to add. I see people get caught up on needing experience in the specific indestry they want to get into. Of course they will need some people that are die hard life long rocket people but a ton of the work gets done by "regular" ME's. I think having the hobby rocketry stuff is huge. If you can transition to anything with more design and build those skills that would make the difference. I always recommend having a personal website showing any and all semi relevant hobbies. That's where you can put all your side quests like a sys and 3d printing. 👍
