Making a Tiny Forest Ecosystem for a Wolf Spider!
Today I found myself quickly making a tiny forest ecosystem for a wolf spider. I found a little wolf spider crawling across my kitchen floor. It's starting to get cold here now where I live, so I knew it would have a much better chance at surviving in my care. I need a name though... I decided to put this little spider in the same corner of the reptile room as my jumping spider, Chris. That's my favorite place to have my morning tea right now.

    What a great little home you made for your wolf spider, I sure hope he/she is still enjoying it! 👍🕷️ I especially like that exotic wood piece you found and I like the idea of using pebbles in the water dish. When I had my spider, it was a grass spider, similar to a wolfie. I would mist her enclosure to hydrate her, but unfortunately it was too much humidity and mold developed, which I believe led to her premature death. You're very talented at putting these enclosures together and they really add to the the ambiance of your nature room, as well as the beautiful music you used for this video! I don't understand your lack of likes or comments, but I thought I'd let you know that someone appreciates the fine work that you did! 😊

I have never kept a reptile before but had some vague understanding of the requirements for proper care, so your species-specific quality of life advice is invaluable. I live in the northeast US and my grandparents brought a potted plant back from Florida which had a brown anole egg, I helped them catch this ~ 2-month-old female hatchling from their balcony (I think she was tired), luckily it was quick, and nothing crushed. I have a whole bunch of frogs in my yard, and now, since we have had so much rain, we have a. WHOLE bunch of Gulf Coast Toads, which I read will eat small frogs. I now worry that the toads will eat all my frogs, as they are out in the flower beds and in the wet grass at night as well. What can I do to protect the frogs, since we have a PLETHORA of small, but quickly growing , toads in the yard now. I think I need to collect some of the toads and relocate them. I have never seen more than a few toads in our yard in any given year, now they are EVERYWHERE.i have no idea where they came from, because when I walk my dog at night, I don't see any toads anywhere else on our walking routes. Someone has to have standing water somewhere , as we also have a bunch of mosquitoes that got really bad just before the toads. I don't use pesticides, fungicides or herbicides in my yard.

    • @WonderfulWorldReptiles
      @WonderfulWorldReptiles 4 місяці тому

      There’s some place around you where they like to breed. I would let Mother Nature work out the balance between the frogs and the toads. it is crazy how many of them hatch when that time comes. frogs and toads breed for quantity over quality, knowing that most of them won’t survive. It’s sad, but it’s nature too.
