Hi Matt, great stuff and very enjoyable. Its such a classic film. I do think you should have left the lipstick scene in ,its so important to everything that happens from that moment

Loved the video. Have not seen this film, but this will make it a point for me to check it out soon. If you take requests and would ever consider doing some comedies thrown in as well... @PaulTesta Good timing on your question. I’m actually in the process of writing a new episode right now. I don’t want to make any promises I can’t keep, but God willing, I’ll be starting this show back up some time in June.

Astounding movie. A perfect work of art. I've love it since my first viewing on TV at the age of 8. I'm 51 now and its still one of those films that if its on I have to stop and watch it.. But I could say this about nearly all of Powell and Pressburger productions..

Saw both 1946 and 1981. There is no comparison. The original film is fabulous ..john garfield is head and shoulders above jack Nicholson in every which way .the 46 film is super charged while the 81 movie isn't half as much

This is *really* a classic film noir portrayal of the forties-tense at times and wildly entertaining (despite the quasi-biological dissection and irritating hyper-tone of the narrator).

Vincent Price once said how much he admired stars from the golden era of Hollywood "In those times actors were larger than life, almost deities. Sadly, these days, actors seem smaller than life..." And he was talking about the late 1980s... Had he lived today....

I'll never understand why Hitchcock didn't do Patricia Highsmith's Ripley. It is so full of suspenseful moments, complex emotional and sexual moments etc.

Viscounti's version of this is free on UA-cam - it was made in 1943 Italy in the middle of the war and it has a lot nitty gritty sexual heat that got it banned by Mussolini.
