Yep...Hard to go wrong with quality plywood. I used mdf for years and 100% wore out a couple of vehicles' suspensions prematurely from the combined weight of it all with the enclosures, equipment weight, to the amp rack/plate/ trim panels etc. Switched to 0.5 and 3/4 plywood about ten years ago and haven't looked back. Yeah it's more expensive, but it's lighter, stronger, and is just better suited to the auto environment in some areas of the country with drastic changing temperatures and humidty levels. Another plus is the saw dust from cutting plywood isnt near as harmful as what mdf generates.
Great video and Happy birthday and happy new year too. Microphone sounds great too with good depth in your voice. Gluing panels together for double wall strength and sonic stability is good; but it will be a heavy box by the time it gets fully assembled with the hardware and subs installed. Of course a good and light weight don't work together. Last good enclosure box I built was installed in a Chevy extended cab pickup with the rear fold down seat removed. I did the double wall construction like your doing as this box was for 2 15" sealed small box enclosure design. I designed the box with 2 2x6 #1 grade lumber inside the box so as to make it as safe as possible to not move in the event of a high speed wreck. I through bolted through the floor and added a cross member bolted to the frame and bolted the box with the floor of the cab with spacers into the crossmember. Sure enough , as the guy had a bad habit of drinking and driving; he wrecked and totaled the pickup. The bed torn off the truck in the accident and he wasn't wearing a seat belt and was thrown out, but his girl friend did wear her seat belt, so she wasn't thrown out. That truck hit big pine trees 18 feet high in the air sideways and the cab was twisted and partially collapsed, but the subwoofer box held in place and may have stopped further collapse of the cab onto the passenger. The driver now uses a wheel chair to get around, and his girl friend wasn't injured too badly and recovered. The cab collapsed to the box and stopped. The frame was twisted as well. I don't know exactly if the speaker box saved anyone, but had if not been secured that now woman may have not survived the accident. That guy was an accident waiting to happen by the way he drove and lived. Im glad I built that box, because someone else wouldn't have secured it as I did. In wrecks all contents in an automobile become projectiles unless they are firmly secured. Maybe you or someone could do a small segment on this subject. I figure you have been into the car audio hobby long enough to hear of speaker box injury in car accidents. Its great you and your family are into the hobby, and that's a good thing. Happy birthday and Happy New Year and GOD bless Earnest K5EWM 👍.
I really appreciate your efforts! Just a quick off-topic question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
Sheeeeeesh to be honest I have 2 ix 12 but I can’t seem to hit low or high 20’s , do you think it could be the amp ?
Happy birthday brother! Sure wish any of my children shared my same passion for car audio. They only see the amount of time and effort I've put into my own builds, then shake their heads when given a demo, lol. Those 4 subs are bound to turn some heads, just one 15 does some damage, 4 should be perfect 😂. Keep the amazing content going 🦾

Received mine from WOOT!, an Amazon company and have it powered with 4gauge amp kit on a Audio Legion 12" in ported box. I would say I'm using around 450-500wmrs the way the settings are. Completely shakes and rattles the Pontiac Vibe it's in. The bass is solid and deep, thunderous and clean. Thinking paid $62.** For it, it's definitely a budget king for the daily. Great video keep them posting

Mic is great. I notice on the second panel the top piece is a little bowed. For this reason I myself will place two 40 lb dumbbells and then screw or nail for the bow out to each end. I tried this with out the weight before and the screws didn't full straighten out the bow. Don't ever want that bow to come lose and slap. May be hard to locate after don. Be I think you have done a fine job I just wanted to add that.
@@brockmarquis8511 yes, you’re right. The weights took care of it. I don’t think it’ll ever come back. I can’t wait to see the progress on yours!
@stereomojo it's just going slow and steady I had to put a lot of silicone in there to tighten up a loose spot that I'm fixing to make a post on you'll see in the group and yeah Im just taking it slow and easy trying not to rush and get it exactly like I want thank you
I don't use quite as much glue 😅 have been wanting to get a brad gun for just this purpose. I use a few screws after I glue and weight. Good looking wood. Happy Birthday and happy holidays once again. Looking good.
@@brockmarquis8511 thanks Brock! I was always intimidated about using a Brad gun. They just seemed too fancy and complicated. lol. They’re actually pretty simple and work great!
Happy Birthday and Happy New Year to all everybody. I do enjoy watching box building vids, something to learn from everybody. Also, I am looking for an 8K 1 ohm to replace my Taramps MD 8k 2 ohm version. I have been running my setup at 4 ohms (my sub is a dual 2 ohm) since my amp is rated at 2 ohms and I do not want to run it at 1 ohm. What are you going to be pricing your 8K at? Ok, keep up the good work.
@@johnmedrano9782 yes, everyone always does things slightly differently. You’re being smart about your power and working. Unfortunately, I won’t be coming out with the 8K. Make sure you check out my video that dropped on Christmas Day.
@@stereomojo I previously started watching the Christmas video and paused the video to get up and help the wife with something. So, I was able to finish the Christmas video today about the 5k and 8k amps. Previously, I mentioned that I am looking for another 8k 1 ohm stable amp, and I am looking on Ebay at either MARTS 8k or another Taramps md 8k and another idea was to add an identical subwoofer and bring the impedance down to 2 ohms. Before I buy another amp or buy another subwoofer, I am going to run it at 1 ohm and hook up my SMD meters and find out what my box rise is running at and then make a decision when done.
Yes, I do think your son should start his own channel.
@ nice! Good planning!
@ thanks for that John! You’re the first one to chime in about that.
@StereoMoJo- Happy Birthday🎂. Great "Bonding" session, pun intended😁😂. Great video, & Happy New Year to you & your Family❤️
@@evilinside5984 Ha!!! That’s a good one! Thanks Evil! Happy New Year!
Do brad nails actually pull the panels together or does it just hold them together with whatever gap already exists? I've always used screws, but I'm thinking of trying brad nails. I may also try a Kreg jig to use screws internally so you don't see them. My main issue with screws is that they look ugly. I like their function, though. No clamps needed.
@@JasonWW2000 yeah, I understand the dilemma. The Brad nails just holds it. They don’t pull them together like screws would.

Can you try out the Pyle Invincible Series class D 1000w mono block? I keep seeing of being promoted when i was looking for amps. It claims fairly reasonable watts and is only $50 on Amazon. Besides that, i haven't seen a modern pyle on a dyno. Btw the amp in this video is still $86, seems like a good bang:buck still
Happy new year 2025.God bless you.....Question if you had to choose between the older version fosgate R11200 or the kicker cxa 1200.1 what would it be?
Oh Gosh! That’s a tough call. That’s a very equal duo. I’d probably let it come down to price. Whichever one you could get cheaper. Happy New Year Marco!
@stereomojo 😅that's they problem they the same price lol. I heard kicker cxa 1200.1 has issues if your electrical is not up for it I'm running stock and would not want to upgrade just yet so I was looking into fosgate prime r1 since I seen it on stock electrical with no issues.
@ those Prime amps are real good, so don’t hesitate. We’ve got the 500 and 750 (R1) and the 1200 (R2). All are excellent!
@stereomojo So i just remember that I have the OceanAudio OAE-1200.1D you think I would be missing out compared to the fosgate or kicker lol 🤔
@ no, not really. That’s a pretty good amp, with about the same output.
I am looking for an 8K 1 ohm to replace my Taramps MD 8k 2 ohm version. I have been running my setup at 4 ohms (my sub is a dual 2 ohm) since my amp is rated at 2 ohms and I do not want to run it at 1 ohm. What are you going to be pricing your 8K at? Happy New Year
Damn I just bought this. I thought it would be good for 1 12”. I am sure it will be fine but thought it was going to be a lot more powerful
Hey if it recommends a 200 amp fuse but pulls more on the certified test should i run the 200 amps of fusing or more. Im kinda confused about it
@@yashuayang4204 no, you’ll be fine with the recommended fusing. You wouldn’t pull as many amps while playing music in a vehicle
@ okay thank you
Glad you cover these brands that claim to have good power yet ... Also glad you have a line of amps yourself that actually do over what they are rated 🎉 .. lawd some of these companies smh 😳💩
Didn't know audiopipe was still doing anything. I had an audiopipe 4ch mini amp probably about 11 years ago now. It was garbage if I'm being honest.
That would be a great amp for a front stage on a lot of systems in fact signal of noise ratio over 100db is fantastic
There is a huge difference There is a huge difference between a PAC and a basin of, APAC controls to gain, a telephone or a stereo jag remote knob style is bass boost
Gotem 😂
Can you test Taramps ts800x4
Definitely not gonna blow them subs lol😅
The top of the line was the Zed Audio designed USA made HC and CR series, I have one (Crunch 250HC) that was abused for 15+ years and still works fine
Mine came with two 25 amp fuse, can I change them to 50amp like yours?
Nice unboxing enjoying your content
Im new to all this audio stuff i got this amp and im using it to run a 10” kicker comp s thats rated at 300 watt rms at 4ohms, should i get a lower ohm sub or just stick with the single 10”? If you recommend an upgrade what would be a good budget sub?
Great honest video as always. That is a very low end quality amplifier. If you attempted to run as highs (door speakers or 6x9 speakers) you would likely have ground loop issues with noise. Then have to add a filter to quiet the noise down. Crunch is low quality stuff like Boss and Pyramid. I don't know price for an amp like that but my Ocean audio 4 channel is powering both 6x9 and 6.5 door speakers and does a respectable job in doing so and that was an low dollar amplifier. $65 bucks best I remember. Other companies like Ocean audio and Audiozerone are putting out affordable equipment that performs well. If Crunch and Boss don't get their act together, they will loose out on sales volume due to junky quality and the BS wattage ratings. Your absolutely right about 4 guage being ridiculous to connect that amp. Awg 8 would be sufficient all day long from the battery to the amp (length of vehicle). I think a 30 amp fuse would be more appropriate than a 40 amp fuse. Oh well I guess there is a market for that stuff. I know its not me. Lol. Great video as always and completely honest. 73 GOD bless and Happy New Year. Earnest K5EWM 👍.
Nice
I think most JL amps call for 3.5volts to remote turn on the amp. Will the 12v damage amps?
Put that on some tweeters
I have this same amp but I’m having issues with it sending power to the speakers I have tested the speakers as well as the RCA cables and neither have issues amp is turning and powering up but not sending power to the speaker wires at all
