For anyone curious as to why the frequency response doesnt look exactly flat at 1:20, it actually is. All the homemade rta have that same shallow roll off on the bass side and that steep roll off on the high side. If you actually measure the voltage output at those frequencies you'll see they don't actually roll off. The output is flat. I'm not exactly sure why the response curve isn't perfectly flat. I think it's got something to do with the output impedance of the device.
Great video as always. You are correct as most people will run subs on an amp like that. Cost alone even though it is an excellent cost effective sub amp; usually only one amplifier required for subwoofers. Now for a legit front and rear soundstage : you would need 4 of those mono block amplifiers to have front left (driver side) and front right (passenger side) this is for the front field. Now left rear (drivers side rear) and right rear (passenger side rear). This would compete the rear sound stage. All complete would require 4 mono block amplifiers and some means of equalization between front and rear and the head unit (deck) would balance the right - left stereo field. All of this assuming either your head unit has front/rear rca output jacks as well as sub out jacks. An EQ would be a good choice but watch out for ground loop noise. Boss makes a ground loop filter for rca line level. You might be challenged to find door speakers to handle that much power and even the rear deck field would require high end speakers as well. Potentially it could be an enormously powerful yet clean stereo system. " BUT"! You have to provide near voltage drop free power to all of the amplifiers. This requires a custom high output electrical system; separate from the stock oem battery and alternator. This can be very expensive and very complicated under the hood as far as a multiple alternator install and yes batteries too. Not many are dedicated to ear bleeding crystal clear full range car audio on the extreme high end level. Yet there are some people out there that are into music at live concert listening levels with obscene clarity. Lol. This should just about convince most people not to try to use this amp for mono block separate amps for full range sound reproduction. (Its possible, but not practical). Great video and hopefully this will explain why mono block amps are rare to be used typically. 73 GOD bless Earnest K5EWM.
Dang, back in 92 i was making my own crossovers with big inductors and capacitors. That sucked! Lol I got me an MTX 2 way active crossover and a second amp as soon as I could. I never looked back. Lol
@stereomojo so what would be a good base setting for a subwoofer...I i generally would keep lpf at its lowest and hpf around 9 o'clock. I don't have the tools so I go off my ear
Those Stihl carb adjustment screwdrivers!! Priceless!! Good video my friend!!
@@Bassntahoe3428 lol, good catch! I use them for amps all the time. I’ve got about 4 of them. lol

@@JasonWW2000 thanks Jason! I’ve noticed that they are never perfectly flat, but this one was a little flatter than normal.
Great video, for the newer guys you could have shown what it looks like on RTA doing a band pass setup vs sub setup vs mids/highs.
Great suggestion! Thanks Phil!
Masterful job. I was 100% trippin' that day. Appreciate the knowledge
@@Triplej863 thanks Triple J! I certainly do my part on saying things wrong sometimes too. lol!

@@JasonWW2000 that’s cool!
i was considering one for each door for mids tbh is a little small for bass in my application and i have class ab for tweeters as it sounds the best
for fullrange they run like mono, ergo, one on each side.
@@tatialo37 yes, they’re not a great choice for that, but certainly can be done.
