Kinda shocked by the sort of responses to moving straight to HoT. Ah well. For sure think you’re making a good call by focusing on content you’re interested in, but you already know it’s the right call lol. Personally, my time was spent bouncing around a bit of PoF for mounts, then back to HoT, with some EoD sprinkled in between before actually finishing each expac. Everything was out of order, but it actually made me interested in the lore and want to go back to do all the living world stories, and I wouldn’t change the order I did it in one bit. I don’t feel like I missed out on an experience at all, I got the experience I was looking for, which is a great feature of this game

@RubeusCubeus Hello there! I can tell you're quite interested in EVE and I wanted to offer you the opportunity to join our corporation in game in order to fast track your learning and development as a player. We have a highly specialized group of talented people who have spent years teaching new pilots how to play the game, grow, and become a successful pilot. I would love to answer any and all questions you have about the game, regardless of whether or not you decide to take the opportunity to join us. Much of what you asked in the video, and elaborated on yourself was correct with just a few exceptions to the rules that were not mention in the video you were reviewing. If you're interested please feel free to reply and get in contact with me. Wish you the best whichever path you may choose.

Something that wasn't mentioned, you'll get almost a million skill point injections by doing a lot of the early game missions. You can see how to earn them in the air career tab. I would start by earning those, and saving the million skill points for level 4 and 5 skills because of how long they take. Do this and you should be able to max about 2 skill realms quickly. For me it was drones and light missles for example. Also, please full screen, or at least theater mode the videos. o7

I started this game 2 months ago and I really like it and you keep learning new things. I can do whatever I want. The only bad thing is that the more I learn about the game and it's community is the more trust issues I get haha. A large portion (20%) of players is nice and helpful. But the other 80% don't care about you and find amusement in either killing or scamming you. Yes scamming is allowed and part of the game world and drives economics.

People always scare new players into thinking they CAN'T build a legendary. While it is hard and can be a time sink, it doesn't take years. I've only been playing for 5 years or so and I have multiple legendaries already. And I only spent actual money on one that I rushed. Don't be scared to at least look into the weapons and armor! The legendaries you can start working on as soon as you are Lvl 80. Also, even if you don't do them, the LW stories add quite a lot to the lore and they are available to just read summaries of.

It is really hard to completely explain all aspects of gameplay to another person, cause it is so much and so deep.... It is free to play though, especially if you are beginning. What do you have to lose, just go and try it out.... you will not lose a single dime but the time you invest and if you don't like it you just stop and leave it be.... ah yes use a referral to get the free skillpoints ; )... from whoever...

  • @randomtvninja
    @randomtvninja 2 години тому

I played for almost a decade, not a fan of the way they changed things.. while "free to play" can bring in new players its limits for veteran players who dont want to pay anymore is just too much of an issue for me at least, and I make good money I just want to spend it on other things. So while I constantly think about going back, I stop myself. Now this is actually a helpful thing for new players it limits the crazy sandbox and allows you to make meaningful progress in the game for free and you'll spend hundreds of hours playing for free and maybe after that you want to pay or maybe you want to start all over with another toon. For me who built out my toons really well.. and then not having any of my hardwork unless I pay? Kills the entire game for me. I was a Pirate/ganker hunter... The skill set is not am easy one especially if you want to go 1v3, but its doable.

If numbers, stats, customization, and optimization excites you, I think you could start having fun pretty fast. Wanting to understand how the game works is really important to having a smooth and enjoyable start in Eve. As far as the way security works, there are two main things that come into play: Concord (NPC police) and individual security rating. Concord ships will respond to non-consensual aggression in high sec space (1.0 to 0.5) with them responding faster in higher security systems. You can still target and kill someone in high-sec, but you'll also probably die in the process. Between 0.4 and 0.1 (low-sec) Concord ships won't respond, but automated guns on space stations and stargates will still enforce security around them. In both high-sec and low-sec, being the aggressor outside of formal declarations of war between corporations will cause the players security rating to fall. As it falls nearby players will be notified that player has a low security status and if it falls too low, one will eventually be branded a criminal that will be unable to dock with NPC space stations, provoke an NPC response in high-sec just by being there, and can be freely targeted and killed by players as well. Null-sec (0.0 to -1.0) is lawless where anything goes and the only consequences for hostile actions are what other players can enforce on you.

Very much agree with the older/younger player split, as a rule that has exceptions. I will say for such a complicated game, it is amazing how much becomes second nature/autopilot for you or can eventually be automated. You can sit and almost solely use the mouse (granted I have a dozen thumb buttons). Going afk or treating it like a background game is not for the newer players - chilling with Eve tends to come when you know what you're doing and you won't for the first month of playing but you shouldn't approach it looking for a chilled game to plod about in, imo. Until you're competent and comfortable enough to be teaching new players, you need to treat it like "class is in session" - nobody really knows the whole game, we've all gone down our own variety of rabbit holes and made our warrrens.. Established players can easily lose a few billion ISK by answering the door or making a brew and getting ganked at the next gate but for those who like complicated problem solving or just doing their own thing - it's a blast. For those who enjoy being part of a huge network of players and worlds, systems and so on - it's golden. You can make your own niche and you can build that niche to be regionally dominant. Stop the idea that you're the white knight - that may be a goal but keep it as such until you got a few hundred (ahem thousand) hours. Or some friends that are Veterans/OGs that can fully carry you. There is no better 'long play' game that I'm aware of. You're a proper individual with millions of other individuals making and breaking the universe.

eve is a game that you have to start it today, play a couple of hours every day, then maybe in a couple of years you can get deep into the game, the start is very slow you must have patience, you will feel like you are in a candy shop, but you cannot buy or use anything unless you have trained the skill for it.

If you want to see what this game is about, you HAVE to take part in a proper fleet, with comms, fleet-commander, scouts, logistics and everything. Most large groups will arrange fleets like this, and have roles for players at various skill level. This is what this game is built for, and it is a totally different experience.

Completing mastery lines is 100% easier once you've got to end game, especially once you've got End of Dragons exp and unlocked Arborstone you get "rested xp" login out there gives 25% bonus XP from all game types for 4 hours, also doing the Heart at Training Grounds, Seitung Province gives another 20% bonus XP from all sources for 6 hours + food that's +50% XP easy, Wizards Tower in Secrets of the Obscure gives "rested XP" too if logged out there. there are lots of "tricks" to get XP very easy and very fast once you've got all expansions unlocked. Just running through Zones discovering all PoI's, Waypoints and Vistas (everything except hearts) with full XP boosts will fill masteries super fast, like 2 or 3 mastery tracks per zone

But in the same token, EVE is also a game where numbers can be more impactful than individual behemoths. One alpha pilot can be just as effective or have an important role in a fleet just like an omega pilot, their roles will just be different.

regarding your comment around 15:00 about buying different sized ships, often bigger isn't better, alot of the big fleet fights between alliances are usually flown in cruiser sized ships which are mid sized sub capital sized ships, the last big war got to a point where financially it didn't make sense to fly cruisers and battle cruisers and battleships most the time, so you would have 250 vs 250 or more destroyers (second smallest size of combat ship) fighting each other, and in small gang (small group pvp) you need a variety of ships to work successfully as you need ships to lock a target in position via warp disruptors/scrams and webifiers, so frigates which are fast and can fit warp scrams/disrupters on always have a place in the game also about your comment around 16:40 about wanting to out play ganks, there are groups and people who do this, but usually more in an offensive capacity, for example some of the best pvpers will often go fight big alliances out numbers and out play them just for the kill mails and prestiege, an example of this is this video ua-cam.com/video/9FF-ioNxIjk/v-deo.html where one of the best pvp groups (have won multiple alliance tornements) are fighting one of the biggest alliances and pull them apart

I've played EVE for 18 years it's a really unique and good game but it requires a lot of time, and if you cant invest a lot of time you'll need to pay. Most corp mates of ours use 2-6 accounts, and a few 1 off's use 10+ accounts. To play EVE seriously you will need at LEAST 2 accounts. Multiboxing is really a requirement, the game is fun I love building wealth but it's not for everyone. Just understand your limits going into it, EVE is a harsh world and it's not for everyone.

about a month and a half and approximately 350 hours in, I can say EVE is the real deal man. what I did when I first started the game; I did the AIR Career program missions and got familiar with all the overview systems and just started wiking shit. After doing all the AIR career missions, I found out I really lean towards combat and exploration, so I started investing in skills that augmented my playstyle, such as hacking, astrogeology, etc. I do enjoy gas and ice harvesting when I feel like afking, and that's the nice part about EVE; like Runescape, you can pick an activity to do based on how much AFKing you desire in that particular moment, from high intensity escalations of combat sites to hacking data sites in wormhole space to forming a fleet and ice mining with the bros for a few hours, watching tv shows or whatnot. It really is a super addictive and enjoyable experience. Plus, much like Runescape, the numbers do indeed go very big in this game, and this pleases the simian brain.

world of warcraft lvling is not content its a boring waste of time thats why making it faster is a good thing i dont want myself or anyone in the world to lvl up a class in wow instead of directly getting into endgame. here is my idea how MMOs should work: split content into categories and make progression there separate from each other. that way if you play solo content you progress there become more powerful like normal questing experience for those who want that (also make it way harder at later stages so its not a press a button to win like most games now.) Gear and power from solo does not work in group or pvp content. This way you can make real RPG experience tell a story that revolves around player and his npc or player companions (also should be made coop) and not this bs we see every time. if you play group content you start right away with running heroic dungeons then mythic+0 and higher and raids (after getting some gear like always you dont want ppl that just logged in into game that they never played in your raid) and the same things for pvp - start with random BGs get gear from there and then arena and rated BG there you go MMO genre is fixed.

If you have no real life. Then go ahead. This game is heavy P2W, for example: You buy PLEX for real currency, exchange that for skill boost or sell on market to buy ships and equipment. Don't belive anyone who says: "This game is not P2W, because..." This game was not P2W until China's part of Pearl Abyss bought CCP Games. They then introduced EVE Online onto Chinese market with changes that were so heavy P2W that old EVE players who played game since beginning started to oppose them even tough those changes were made for Chinese players (There are separate servers for them, but influx of Korean/Chinese bots in-game is so high that chat is flooded in Jita *system* with their messages.). After a while arround 2019, first changes were made in market of EVE Online, when for first time out of nowhere resources started to flow, destroying balance of marketplace (some though that was intentional move of developers to flood market with cheap materials and destroy so called "whales" who made billions of ISK from it). Then arround 2020 they changed price of Omega and introduced various versions of Skill Injectors that allow instant skill aquire without waiting time. After that most of EVE players left game. All server data is kept by CCP Games and can be edited by them to show up fake ammount of players, so don't belive any charts. Most of people who remained in-game are very old veterans who are either addicted to adrenaline pumped gameplay that they can loose real money, make real life money from trading items or those who invested too much money into game to leave it at all. F2P is trial, Subscription is like gambling. There is no point to start playing this game now if you want to be on level of players who started to playing it during it's inception in 2003. At least you won't achieve this without loads of money spend on PLEX to boost you skills. The Council of Stellar Management was once a group of veteran players who decided wit CCP what can be done to improve game. Votes of rest of playerbase counted in when they were chosen on for that group. But after PA aqire CCP, they started to implement so called "Yes Men" players who agreed with every bad decision developers made. I started playing in 2015 and left in 2021, because I finally woke up and realized that it's not MMO. It's Pyramid Scheme dressed as MMO. P.S. Also you should edit out next time every such interaction 18:52 (even if you make this video from stream onto YT).

I think we share some similar sentiments about the game. For reference i played pre big bang with my brother, some friends, when i was in 6th/7th grade. They dont play anymore obviously, i still do. Its such a weird game to describe to people because i still feel lost in the modern MapleStory, even though i have nearly 10 years of reference in game time and should know alot. Whats interesting to me is that i when i played back in 6th grade i had time and no money, i used to walk to target to buy NX cards bc it was the only way to acquire them. Now i have limited time, and arguably more money which presents an interesting cross roads with modern maple, do you grind hours to get the stuff you want, or do you drop $10 and get it quickly. You said theres no way to buy gold directly but the meso Market on reg servers is essentially NX to meso conversion and its a fairly way to aquire mesos with micro transactions. That doesn't mean its a good idea, but if your options are grind 4hrs to get 3bil or pay $20 and instantly get 3bil its basically a matter of how you value your time vs how you value your money. The worst part about modern maple for me is theres no way id ever recommend a game like this to my new gamer friends, theres too much to learn, too many classes, worlds, servers, places to go, and things to learn. If the game released a classic version (but addressed some of the major problems of old school maple) came out i could maybe recommend the game to a friend, but the modem game is all but a solo venture in my opinion

the problem with EVE is that new players have NO WAY to say how the game really is , because they say you can do this , and that but EVE is bigger than the sum of its parts . Noobs think a lot about skills and ships and veterans doesent really care about it . EVE is a sandbox, its another paradigm , the progression is horizontal instead of vertical , you have “sidegrades” , you can be the BEST frigate fighter in the universe in not much time , but then again you can be a LOT of things , the players have freedom to do what they want , nothing is for ever , you can sell everything , you can build everything , you can lose everything . that said you character is imortal , so don't fly what you cannot afford to lose , if you die , re ship and keep playing. edit: btw some players don't even undock , they play the economy , some players don't even log in , they play the metagame , like kings or politicians ...

24:00 yes, in eve you can affect the game universe to a certain extend, if you play alone you can change stuff for 5 minutes lol... if you play in a big alliance then together with the alliance the the impact is pretty significant

20:30 about training, you can start buying the the store a pack or more months, you could get up to 40% discount and get a ton of free shit on top of it, that's what most people go for, usually 3-6 months packs are very good
