New to the channel, just got recommended this video. I’m one of those close to Endgame players in this game and I’m so glad I found this! You did a great job showcasing the absurdity of this game. I can get all my dailies done in about 15 minutes, and then once a week I’ll take an hour or two and knock out all the weeklies, but that is because I’ve built my account, I have every character over level 200 and my main character needs to party up to tackle the big bosses and progress. This game is extremely social still, it’s all just on discord instead of native game chat. Hope you enjoy maple and some of your audience tries it out! Let me know if you need a boss carry on reboot or if anyone has any questions!
I played MapleStory on and off from 2005-2018, though I never really did any of the "endgame" stuff. Made a lifelong friend in that game, and despite all the issues the game has has I still love it. I definitely agree with what you're saying about how disjointed the game is these days; the exploration (almost metroidvania) and social aspects are what drew me to the game, and I miss them dearly. Maybe I'll go back someday...
I remember hearing about it late 2005 but didnt start until January of 2006 while I was on break. Been coming back to it every once in a while since then
I started Maplestory in 2005, before and after it got the cash shop added to NA ~ it was my first MMO and it basically killed my desire to have BiS in games and definitely shaped my view on what a pay-to-win cash shop is. Some of the terrible aspects have made me a lot more easy going as I went into other games, allowing me to enjoy them more freely ahahaha. Even today, gameplay-wise, it's still so fun. Having an mmo with platformer elements is really a great idea. Plus the art is evergreen compared to 3-d games. One thing it really excels at is emotes, I've yet to play an mmo that is able to make emotes as engaging, there's something about clearly readable expressions that are based on chat emojis that really make talking with other characters so much more natural.
A part of me wants to give MapleStory another try. (Played it back in the day), but I"m gonna need ya to make a beginner guide because this is mad overwhelming.
the thing about maple is that at the core its fun, its got a lot of things in it that dont make it fun, but the core game play and mechanics are fun. its why maplestory 2 died so quick because its core gameplay was not fun, it had great customisation and things going for it but it wasnt fun.
ohh maplestory was my fist MMO, where i made my a lot online friends, to this day i still play it some times, i miss the official brazil server though, i play the global sometimes but this not the same.
I've played maple off and on basically since release (I remember a time before pirates), and have been away for a long time now, feeling like microtransactions killed the game. Didn't realize there were completely f2p servers, so guess who's gonna be downloading it and getting sucked in again? 😅
It was definitely pay to win before big bang and for a while after potentials came out. But arguably there is no "winning" anymore outside of gains/improvements on your main, so if you can't win a game can it really be pay to win 😅. I'm not saying there isn't predatory monetization in the game, and paying certainly helps in most cases, but I think they've lost the end goals of the game to the point where there is no foreseeable end which for making money and a long lasting game is good, but for fulfillment for players is less than ideal

I loved playing Maplestory back when it first released. Sometimes I still have the itch to go back to it, but I wish it had controller support.
There is a menu option to remove window transparency while in combat. Makes the windows always opaque.
This video convinced me to not talk about MapleStory to anyone who doesn't already know about it. It would make anyone who does so look insane😂

Wait till you discover what the Maple Guide is.
once upon a time I considered trying Maplestory in highschool, only one thing made me never try it, Nexon being the publisher

Don't worry, also my dirty secret!

I didn’t hate the game. I hated the rates for collecting 🥺 lowkey fun though
15:00 you can use the guide to tp to six paths or is that only in reg servers?
My thoughts exactly.
He should check out Dofus one day if he wants a unique MMO
Played maple a lot as a kid early 2000s too. Honestly though, your video makes me want to go back even less. Sounds like a mess.
best mmo
maplestory is the P2W wow of side scrollers, they've gotten things amazingly right but also alarmingly wrong

The game is pay to progress not pay to win.
@@TwigGenetics whats the difference its still the same damn thing, winning on boss fights = a win p2w is just a more broad term
