Led strip random scrolling light effect for a large hamster wheel
This was for a project that took the speed of a man sized rotating drum and would light an led strip with a random scrolling pattern that would scroll at a speed proportional to the speed and direction of rotation of the drum. Speed was sensed using a rotatry encoder and ligting was managed using an Arduino Mega programmed using the fastled library. Total number of LEDs were 196, WS2812 chipset. Patterns were created using the palette function in the fastled library and pre-defined palettes. Whenever the drum was stationary for a period if time, it would revet to a static, sparkly, rainbow.

Lit Cannon Fusewire demonstration
Переглядів 264 роки тому
Demonstration of an interactive display for a panic room, whereby the participant holds a fuse wire (with magnet in) to an artificial flaming torch (with reed switch in) to light a cannon fuse. This starts the led strip to display a flicker head of the fuse and a fading yellow to red trail. This was done usong WS2812 led strip and the fastled library on arduino Nano. Indesit IDC85 belt fitment - getting belt over pulley
Переглядів 112 тис.5 років тому
I'm sure you've seen other videos that show you how to get the belt onto the drum. However most don't go into detail on how to actually get the belt ONTO the pulley and some show the technician just "pop" the belt on, which is misrepresentative of whats actually involved. Here I show the method how i got the belt over the pulley. This might be similar for other condenser tumber dryers. Please l...

Flashing Light Prize 2017 - Electromechanical Schmitt Trigger
Переглядів 1937 років тому
Here is my entry for the flashing light contest 2017. I have based my design on exploiting the lower operating voltage characteristics of a typical relay and have developed a sort of Electromechanical schmitt trigger, which I have then turned into an oscillator. I explain what if found during testing of the relay and how I implemented my findings into my entry design. Many thanks for watching a...
Banggood Panel Voltmeter Settings and Setup as an Ammeter
Переглядів 20 тис.7 років тому
I bought this display on Banggood for a project, and was curiuos about the button on the back which lead me to this video and finding out that this panel meter, sold as a voltmeter, can also be deployed as an Ammeter if you use the appropriate shunt resistor. I also figured out how to navigate the menu and what each menu number was. DIsplay can be found here: www.banggood.com/0_56-Inch-DC-0-103...
How NOT to solder to vero board

Whatever this person tried to do, They did it wrong! I'm impressed at their determination that this was 100% the correct way to assemble this circuit, even though the conductive parts were on the wrong side! Take note THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO SOLDER TO VERO BOARD!
My visit to MACH 2016 at Birmingham NEC
Переглядів 1148 років тому
Mach 2016 is an exhibition of loads of different machining and engineering equipment from companies around the world! There was so much there this video would have been 5 times as long! Its such a big event that they can't hold it annually because of the difficulty for these companies to organise the logistics of getting their stuff to the venue, some machines where as big as a house! If you ge...

Reforming Springs - BUSTED

So I saw on on a Facebook page a video of somebody showing a bent and deformed spring being reshaped using a lighter. The video was shared as how to repair damaged springs, so I thought I'd put it to a test.

Walk round a 2003 mini cooper gearbox - whats inside?
Thankyou so so sooo much I’ve took days trying to do this and found your video and did it instantly Thankyou so much
😊👍dad
Just seen this. I used a trampoline hook and after stretching the belt was able to pull it onto the pulley.
Nice! Your old spring video is hysterical btw 😂
That's the exact same one I have and haven't used it yet
Wow so cool
Absolute waste of time
Indeed, but what else you going to do at 3:30am…
I know this video was posted 8 years ago but this is the only thing I’ve found where you have the tire pressure and ABS lights on, did you ever manage to fix this or found out what the problem was?
😂😂😂😂
Thanks
Nice job! What I love about these old scopes is that for the most part (outside of the CRT) most parts are readily available. So you can keep this rig going for years to come. Also the charm of analog switches and immediate feedback with no latency digital scopes have.
Excellent video thank you. Im working on the same model of scope but my fault is that varying the intensity is affecting the trace vertical positions, as the intensity increases the trace spacing drops to the point it starts pulsing the vertical. I feel sure its in the same area but I havent found it yet but your video has helped me get my head around this area of the scope cheers
Take the bearing off the back and pull the back panel away slightly so you can drop the drum 25mm then the belt will fly on and then just put the drum shaft back through its hoke and put it all back together,,
Finally 501 subs by me
My friend stretched my scooter spring for the bell and I have no way to fix it
Huge help, many many thanks 🤩
Try putting it in cold warm afterwards
You are a lifesaver, I struggled for ages till I found your video, brilliant. Thanks so much
I have problem eith my Hameg 203-6! Any idea how to fix issuse? ua-cam.com/video/dBxXbUESxUQ/v-deo.html
Cracking advice i’d been wrestling with it for an hour!! 😂
Honestly just used this technique and it worked perfectly!! Half a hour and the missus walks in with this video 😂👌

آسف. لقد نسيت منذ زمن بعيد.
Love it
I'm pretty sure the original post was discussing the most common spring high carbon steel aka spring steel. There's rare occasions when they are made from nickle, copper, or stainless steel so what various alloys are you talking about?. Anyways, you need to heat the spring and make literally some effort to reshape the spring, quench it, check the shape is correct for function, and temper the spring. It must be formed hot or it will.... Spring back like springs do.
Brilliant, thank you. Thought I was going mad until I watched this!
Thanks for the vid. No way was I going to get my belt over that pulley with a screwdriver, so I used a plastic coated hook, which held onto the belt much better. I also had a problem getting the impeller type fan off which I also came up with an answer for. ua-cam.com/video/qFBQy4pxNs8/v-deo.html
I watched the video upto the diagnosis segment, and then stopped. Having repaired a couple of these, I'm pretty certain the fault will be in the cord, and not the rotating connector.
Match the suit to the surroundings.
So glad I came across this video, replacement belt comes tomorrow so I’ll give it a go
Thanks, must have watched the same vid and had the same problem. Cheers.
Thank you very much, it was impossible for me to put the belt in place until I saw your video! With a screwdriver I finally could put in place with your method, thank you very much!
Thanks. I was literally 3 minutes away from kicking fudge out of the machine
They said sus 6 years ago💀
Cheers for the video saved me from further frustration 😅
Coincidentally... I've a Hameg HM203-5 that I stored in the shed for a few years and the trace stopped working not long after powering it up for the 1st time. The circuit + opto-isolator are almost identical to the model you cover in the video. It was also hot to the touch. The chip actually measured OK in a universal tester, but the capacitance of the diode was zero, which looked iffy. Replaced and all working again! Cheers.
Massive help thank you. I was really struggling to get the band over but after watching this I managed it with my screwdriver and without breaking a nail so big bonus 👍👍👍
Grab the belt from behind the pulley, grab the belt from the side of the drum and pull down, then slip the belt over the pulley, no need for a screwdriver.
so essentially you're slacking the section not in contact with the drum?
Is there a circlip on the pulley shaft?
To my recollection, no.
Dude, just turn the motor that's how it's done 😅😅 It should be on a spring for tension
I removed one of the pulley bolts so pulley bracket could move then was easy
Legend!
You have no idea what your doing. If a spring his hyper tensioned beyond its tempered limit, it aint the hell going to go back to its original shape. It has to be heated evenly at a narrow temperature range and then manipulated back into shape and then a controlled re heating annealing process to make it serviceable . A torch like yours is not suitable for this task, the it has too high a temp range withing the confines of the tiny flame. Go back to reading Harry Potter there's no magic here.
You sir a hero. I've been breaking my fingers for the past hour
You sure… are a legend. Thank you so much for this video
This video just saved my sanity. Thanks!
Brilliant. Been struggling hours with this until watching. 2 minutes and the job was done. Thank you
GODSEND. I was just online looking for a new belt cuz I thought mine was too small. If the pulley and motor wasn’t tight I would have had them off tryna get the belt on. Will defo try the screwdriver method😩😩🤌🏽
Thanks for this Chris! Exactly the same experience as all the other commenters. Even after stretching, belt seemed 3 or 4 inches short of getting anywhere near the pulley but at least this gave me the confidence that it was the right belt and it would stretch with perseverance. Was hard work though! The Espares video is great apart from this bit and also dropping it round the front of the drum. Guy did it easily on his machine. I had to practically dismantle the front to get a gap to get the belt round. Thanks for posting this!
Hi Chris. Is service manual for HM203-7 available
