The Ultimate Off-Road Camping Adventure, Into the Wonnangatta Valley
Welcome to EP3
We head out of Top crossing and head across the ranges to find a camp I have pinned on the map.
The trip changes and we decide to head into The Wonnangatta Valley to a spot Peter knows and has camped in for years.
To our disappointment, many of the planed camping spots have been overgrown by blackberries.
On the way we zigzag through the high country, stop at Lake cobbler and have a look at Dandongadale falls before we then head over the Lake cobbler track to Abbeyard Vic and take the easy way into Wonnangatta.
Sit back and enjoy the Bush Tv

Hi Daniel, if I bring my land cruiser over can you wash it as well? 😂
By the time you get back home she will need another wash 😂
Bit of dirt and gravel to wash out. She will come up smick for the show 🤷♀️🤦♀️🔥
Yeah heaps mate, had to get rid of all that diry gravel! Cost me over 1k last time 🤦♀️
well done mate. Great video
Glad to help mate 👍
Love the Ausie bush , never been in the VIC high country however must find time to explore that area. In the meantime I’ll enjoy your productions until the opportunity comes along ……
Thanks, mate, It's an amazing part of the country that's for sure. You won't be disappointed if you get the chance.
Watching today..28:1:25.…your food is making me hungry!!!! Great videos and cheers for the real world.... thanks 💪🦘🍺...
Thanks mate 👍 Don't worry it makes me hungry when I'm editing the video Thanks for watching 👍
Mate i love your show
Thanks mate 👍
I could easily reach my plug on an aussie 1994 model FZJ80, I didnt need to go through the wheel well at all. Quick question, there's no washer on this plug right? No need to add any sealing tape when reinstalling?
Yeah, by memory, it has no washer, I wouldn't have added any Teflon. You could add a crush washer, but if it hasn't got one, it shouldn't need it (hopefully)
Just joined up to your channel. Keep up the great videos🤗
Thanks mate 👍 Appreciate your support 👍
Love your content mate. Just started watching your channel and im hooked. Ill come out with you if the chance arises
Glad you're enjoying mate 👍
Just wondering where did you buy your water jug
The Billy was brought way back on 2005 from a camping shop called, Ray's outdoors
Nice trip , lovely spot in Gatta so many good camp sites
Fantastic in there mate
461,000ks on ya vehicle!!! Can you please make a detailed video about your vehicle and why you drive it!!! I’ve always believed the higher the mileage the more unreliable a vehicle. It would be great to know more about the vehicle you drive and why you choose to drive it over other 4WD’s. If you had a choice where money was no obstacle what vehicle would you really be driving in the high country? Thanks.
G'day mate, I'll get to that video one day in the future 👍 I've had the 80 now for 20 years and she's had her moments as it would fir an old girl, For me, the 80 is robust, and I've put it through the tests of not just time but pushed through some tough terrain as well. Key is (what I do) service every 5k and keep on top of maintenance.
I thought the whole system held 14.2 litres?
12.49186 to be exact
@@Bush-Tv I think the extra 2L quoted in service manual must be the heater core then!
@petegangies yeah could be mate
Thank you very much for giving us the motivation to do this hehehe, I struggled with my bad driver window for years and once I saw your video, I decided to do it my self and sucess, now my window goes up and down like new. your video was nice and clear and followed it step by step and woalah. Thank you once again.
Awesome work mate, glad the video helped you out 👍
yep really good to camp in the valley.. That camp looked very similar to one we have camped at before.. But i am sure it wasnt the same.. but there are some gems there. Nice to also see a slightly different way into the valley.. havent been in from king river before.. thx for the video mate.
Yeah it is a great area mate, so many spots in the valley 👍
Great job mate like watching your episodes injoy all parts of the episodes
Cheers mate
Love the content mate
Thanks mate 👍
Fantastic job u are doing can u do a run down of your 80 series please
Thanks mate, will do
Thanks Bush TV , enjoyed the video . Wonagatta is definitely on the bucket list . Camp spots look great beside the river . Keep ‘em coming ! 👍👍🍻🍻
Oh mate, fantastic in the valley, its a must do
I did the son of a bitch TK very tight and pin strips and found out no one really uses it they ride quad bikes through it to trim trees a mates dad works up there cleaning the tracks
Did you realise the spot you camp at was where Russell and carol were killed? No real evidence left there anymore.
Only realised the next day mate.
I love ya content mate. Its a ripper and it always strikes a cord with me. I wanted to ask you about the cold nights when it comes to the sherbs. Sometimes I think to myself "to have a cold beer or no cold beer", but I usually do, and then sometimes progress to a nice drop of red. Do you like red wine at all? If you do, it does go well with the good old steaks you cook up 🙂. Being out in the bush the venison steaks would go well too mate
G'day mate, that awesome 👌 Really glad you're enjoying it all. I'm just a beer bloke mate, for some reason I've never liked any wine. I do tho like some cook ups with a drop of red in there, but I've never used any in the my recipes. Thanks for the feedback mate 👍 Cheers
You mean Billy Goat Bluff Track. No such thing as Billy Goats Bluff Track! Many get it wrong with bad English and grammar.
Yeah that must be it, do you get things wrong in life mate? Or did your parents just bring you up without manners 🤔
@@Bush-Tv No offence by the way. I subscribe to you and watch all your videos. The criticism is constructive and meant to correct you. I've been a teacher for most of my life and correcting students or people is not a reflection of the person. Just as teaching 10 + 10 is 20. And if someone says no it's 15. Then we correct it. Does not mean no manners. To the contrary it's polite to say "you mean 20" Just as I said. "you mean billy goat bluff track" Nothing to do with manners and I don't know where you pulled that from? Did I call you names or say your stupid? Now that would be no manners.
Well I must admit I really don't miss them hordes of bush flies that are rampant down there in Vic but how about a fly net on your hat to keep them off your dial ??, anyway, thanks for the memories again and don't stop making them.Cheers
Ita a bad year for them mate, i can deal with them its worst when you're doing something, it's like they know when you can't defend 😂 one thing is flys, but mosquito's, they are the ones the turn the table 😂 Glad you enjoy it all mate 👍 And thanks for watching 👍
Love the out takes.😂😂
👍
What do look at in a tree to establish if it can be a hazard to sleep nearby? Thanks for the videos Cheers
Yes mate, Gum trees have a very bad reputation of dropping limbs, even with no wind.
Enjoy your videos very much , always uplifting to be in the bush weather being there oneself or ‘virtually’ …… if you would like some constructive feedback I may suggest a little less commentary …… otherwise so nice to view your work ……!!
Thanks mate, I'm always trying to find that perfect balance. 🙏
thx for the vid mate. yep seems well graded from where it was at last year. a nice relaxing drive up now :-)
Yeah it is now mate, makes it a bit easier but a lot less exciting 😂Cheer for watching mate, Have a great Sunday 👍
Came down camp creek track from Buckland valley to Abbeyards just last week, has some steep sections but not to bad. That track you were looking at is a different one on private property im pretty sure cos i was looking and thinking the same thing myself when i was there.
Yeah that's what I thought, pretty full on that track mate. Cheers for the info 👍
Certainly have done a great job grooming the track. I drove that track up and down in March 24 when it had huge rock step ups, deep powder dust and technical sections everywhere that required some driving skills. Great vid good content. Thanks 👌😀
They sure have mate, I'm sure it will chop up again but might take a while and bloody solid. I still enjoyed the old Billy Goats the way it used to be. Sort of hope it's not going to be a thing of the past
Hey mate, did Camp Creek track back in mid‐November, steep enough but a really nice, straightforward drive. Nowhere near as steep as Butcher Country or Caledonia tracks, could be a bit tricky if wet. We took Buggery Track then to Lake Buffalo, another great drive.
Thanks for the info mate 👍 I'm pretty keen on getting back up that way. I think that track I seen could be on pirate property, not sure
RIP Snake!!😢
Yeah its would have been extremely lucky to get out of that one mate, and 3x motorbikes just went through there as well
Looks like another relaxing trip. Good one. 👍
Was a great one mate 👍
This country is amazing!
Sure is
Thanks for the video mate, enjoyed it. I've always wanted to get out to the wonnangatta valley. I've only ever look down onto it from the top of the viking.
Welcome mate, its an awesome place down in the valley 👍
@Bush-Tv what's zeka spur track like atm? I walked half way up it last year as part of the viking circuit and it seemed pretty good
@TheBeardedBushranger yeah was pretty good late November mate 👍
@@TheBeardedBushranger I just came back from Zeka, it’s rough but quite easy for the most part, but does have a couple of tougher sections with steps and large wombat holes.
Camp Ck track in the dry isnt too bad, a few steep sections but take your time and you'll be fine. The crossing of the Buffalo River can be a challenge if the levels are up, walk it first as there are some big rocks in there. Ive done it on a trail bike many times and also dropped my bike a couple of times as well when doing so !! Follow Camp Ck up to Buffalo Range Tk then turn right along Buffalo Range to Scotchmans and it takes you down to the Buckland Valley. Great drive / ride and heaps of beaut spots along the Buckland to camp. I was there a couple of weeks ago
Yeah, Buckland Valley is really nice, I've done some great trips in there mate 👍 Keen on getting back up that way for a look, camp and fish 👍
Hi Mate Yes it is a beautiful country I love spoting details on 44:43 on the front door of Riley's hut l didn't quite understand stand what they meant about dan andrews Was it meant to say dan andrews is satanic ,masonic filth.
Sure is mate, The part your talking about is12:14 Says Dan Andres is a.. Then its continued but under the new door lock
@Bush-Tv spot on with the time don't know how l got the wrong maybe saying that dame name on the door 🤣🤣
@OZSERB80 haha i didn't even see that fool until you mentioned it 😂
