Having some Fun in the Sun with my E-flite Cherokee 1.3m out at Calico Dry Lake! This is a really nicely done foam version of the general aviation classic from Piper. I think Horizon really did a great job capturing the looks, and flying quality of this mild mannered airplane. Blue skies and happy landings everyone!

    Great video! The desert is an awesome location to fly. I wish I had one that open. I love my Cherokee. I have some trouble with CG as the battery seems to be too far back with a 3200mAh or larger. I only get one strap on the battery. The 2200mAh sit well at the front of the tray and catch both straps. But it still flies well with any of them.

    I think it's time to upgrade your camera, Justwingit. Your footage is not stabilised and it makes it very hard to watch. You could use your existing camera with a tripod for better results. Or get a gimbal for it. Or just upgrade your camera for one with stabilization. Or use a modern smartphone that provides stabilization. Either of these options will help you get stabilized footage. Super cool model! I've seen his model in another video as well, with Ali Machinchy flying it.

    • @JustwingitRC
      @JustwingitRC 6 днів тому

      The video you watched with Ali Machinchy flying it was shot even lower tech with a cell phone. BUT, I will take your advice to heart and look to upgrade sometime later thus summer. I've had major shoulder surgery so maybe a tripod isn't a bad idea! All the best!

    • @Porculus
      @Porculus 5 днів тому

      @@JustwingitRC : ). Well hopefully your shoulder recovers well and quickly. Tripod with pivot ball is best, if you go the tripod way, so you can still tilt and point the camera wherever you need to, as you're filming. Keep in mind that tripods are great, but they DO have a certain footprint and can sometimes get in the way of people, if you're in high pedestrian traffic place. You don't want people tripping on your tripod and knocking it over.

    • @Porculus
      @Porculus 5 днів тому

      For what you do, I think sometihing like the DJI Osmo Action 4 would be a great choice. Arguably the best action cam at the moment, by far. Very, very nice stabilized footage. Or better still, the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 with its built-in gimbal, but it is a bit spendy.

    So many of these increadable models crash on maiden flights. Not nearly enough testing. Weight/balance issues, servo failes and over stressing the airframe seem to cause a lot of them. Low air speed and attempted arobatics close to the ground is not a good idea for these. In a real airplane, you can feel the control pressures and what the plane is feeling. On the ground, you can't.
