Sir Nigel Gresley & Friends - Torre Station, Torquay - Saturday 6th July 2024
The English Riviera Express coming through Torre Station on Saturday 6th July 2024 worked by ex LNER A4 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' and supported by 47593 'Galloway Princess'. Prior to Sir Nigel's arrival a GWR Class 800 serivce from Paignton to London Paddington and a local GWR Class 166 service from Paignton to Exmouth. At one point I doubted my platform location as the Exmouth to Paignton service pulled in to the station but it all turned out alright in the end as it moved out of the way in time for the return journey to Northampton of the English Riviera Express.

Two Diesel Railtours heading to Cornwall forr Mazey Day, captured from Silk Mills Bridge, Taunton. The first was 1Z69 06:10 Dorridge to Penzanze (The Mazey Day Cornishman) worked by 50007 'Hercules' & 50049 'Defiance' followed 20 minutes later by 1Z64 05:20 Wolverhampton to Penzance (The Cornish Riviera 'Mazey Day' Statesman) worked by D1924 'Crewe Diesel Depot' & 47712 'Lady Diana Spencer.

On Sunday 5th May 2024 the first Royal Duchy visited the South West, hauled by LMS Stanier Class Black 5 4-6-0 44871 with Class 47 47746 Chris Fudge. She had started off from Bristol making the way along the mainline to Par in Cornwall. I captured her on the return journey as she thundered through Totnes station a little after 7pm. On Monday 1st April 2024 the first railtour to visit Devon in 2024 was The Midland Pullman and she made a routine stop at Torquay as part of the IZ43 05:51 Hull to Paignton service. They knocked the ball way oout of the park with this one. So atmospheric what a treat for the eye and ears!
Scots Guardsman Heading north, the line descends from Ramsgreave & Wilpshire to Whalley Viaduct - over 4 miles - at around a 1 in 85 gradient.
