Cunningham Wood Work
United States
Приєднався 4 бер 2013
I'm here to show off what I am making every week in my home shop. I make whatever I want most of the time. I kind of specialize in making wood mallets but I also turn on the lathe and make lots of things out of wood in conjunction with other materials.
Cedar cross refinished
I made this cross about 5 years ago and it needed refinishing. I picked it up brought it back to my shop and sanded and resprayed it. Only took a day but it should last another 5 years.
I was honored to make it years ago and honored to refinish it.
Special thanks to Fujispray for sending the Q5 HVLP system
Special thanks to Total Boat for sending the Gleam Varnish.

Handmade Leather Wallet - minimalist

Relaxing video showing the making of a minimalist wallet. I have seen this design a few times on Instagram and wanted to try it. I cut out my version on some folder paper and traced it onto the leather. To anticipate the folds I waited till it was folded to transfer the angled cuts. It worked out very well. Leather camera strap - handmade

A relaxing video showing how I made my leather camera strap. I had been using the one that came with my Canon and it was ok and definitely ugly. I’m better than that. Maybe. I used 4 oz Pueblo Cognac leather from RM Leather. Beautiful leather and great to work with. All my tools can be found on Amazon, linked below. Trusted him hhry😊😅🎉😂❤🎉😂🎉😢😢😮😅😅😊
Hell yeah get a Duff gun
I'd LOVE to see a build video! Very Kuul !!!
I have a full video of a standard stormtrooper in production now. If I make another homer I definitely will
Needs his zigzag hairline and top loops. Looks cool man
@@dannylang8669 thanks! He has the hair now. Posted on my IG page.
Homer?
Exactly. Homage to Homer
Don't usually like using giant wads of tape... but man... this is an aweaome technique. I think this might be my winning move
@@Mighty_Atheismo It’s a little wasteful but in this situation it works great. Thanks for watching the video.
@CunninghamWoodWork I mitigated the shockingly large wad of used tape by laying the strips neatly on top of each other 🤣 it saved a lot of space! And the glue up went *SO* well. I can hardly express how pleased I am with my result. I am very grateful to you for your post!
Don't forget the gray teeth later 👍
The copper brings it up a notch. Lovely work
No more words... just emotions...
Looks like he went at it with a hammer. Didn’t think you were supposed to use a hammer on a “slick”.
I had my sigmoid removed in February after 14 yrs of purforation’s , flare up, and infection due to diverticuliti disease and micro colitis. So far so good. My husband has colitis and currently on Entivio . Thanks for sharing your story
@@carrie1771 I was going to try entivio but never made it to the GI doctor that suggested it. Had my emergency surgery before our appointment date unfortunately. Hopefully it helps. Nothing seemed to help me. It can be so frustrating
I found your channel as I’m looking to build a vice. Thought I’d drop a comment. Thanks.
@@LivingTheLifeRetired Thanks. Hopefully you get some good ideas for your own.
I've had problems using zebrawood as the grain raises quite a bit if it gets wet at all. Have you had that problem and how can you prevent it?
@@robertmillstein8916 I use this more as a serving board and don’t get it wet. However you can raise the grain with water during the sanding process and when it gets wet in the future it won’t get as fuzzy or at all. But zebra wood may be more difficult. I just haven’t ran into it myself.
Looks like a plastic piece of garbage to me
@@copedog101 There’s aluminum too
are there any that are not?
This may be 5 years old but it is a great video. Earned yourself a subscriber today. Keep them coming. 👍
@@kennethterry6453 thanks! Glad you liked it.
Ridged needs to make that 10” saw in a 18 volt, or duel 18 volt. That would be awesome.
@@stgraves260 That would be awesome. Of course I don’t take mine anywhere but that’s just me.
@@CunninghamWoodWork it would be cool though to give us a option. I can see Ridged making both. I just do honey dues and DONTs around the house. Honey fix this honey fix that honey dont sit down you’re not done yet.
Thank you sir. Please keep it much shotter next time .🎉
@@DraganIlich-r1s absolutely. Anything for you.
Happy to help out with such an important project!
@@TotalBoat Thanks and actually you helped twice! The gleam is awesome. 5 years in those conditions was a good test. May not wait that long next time.
man I definitely know what your going through having living with UC myself since I was 18. I almost lost my colon 3 years ago. The top left of my colon currently is a weak spot now so I don't think my next flair up will go well. I have had talks with surgeons about the j pouch. something to look into if I have to do it but luckily I got but on a brand new medicine that's kept me in remission for 3 years now.
Hey Paul! I went 3-4 years with no remission and no medicine helped at all. Thought I had it under control and was wrong. Hopefully whatever you’re using helps you maintain and you never get to this point but I know you’ve struggled. I’ll do another video here in a couple months showing my next step and progress.
@CunninghamWoodWork Yes good luck with the surgery's coming up and hope it all works out for you and looking forward to the next journey
Continued prayers. I came out of a C-section with my 3rd child in full blown UC. Limited on meds due to nursing and had the same awful life of 20x a day plus taking care of 3 children under 4 with a husband that traveled 4 nights a week. It was an awful time. With prayers and time I was able to go on meds that finally helped and was symptom free when that sweet baby was 15 months old. It is life altering. So glad the angles came to you in the form of a medical team that took care of things to get you on track again. So sorry you have had to go through this.
As a crohn's survivor, that has been lucky enough to have a very mild case, I feel for you, brother. I was diagnosed in high school and by the time I got to college I was 5'-10" and 115lbs. Thankfully, I've had it easy. I'm sorry for your suffering, but I'm glad things have worked out for you. Prayers for you and yours.
Love the choice of wood very nice finish. Thanks for sharing your expertise mistakes and all!!
Do you have a preference between the screws hidden in the body of the vice or have them extended outward the way you have them?
I’m not sure these are designed to go inward but I see what you’re saying. I haven’t caught my shirt or wrist on them yet so they seem to be fine.
Oh oh someone put mayo in the ketchup bottle
Really like how it turned out! Now I wanna make one.
I had a chug kick back into that dust collector and totally destroyed the plastic catch shoot along with the rubber flap
Yikes. I know there’s a guy on UA-cam that 3D prints a better one. Good time to upgrade
The proper name is "register chisel" used for finishing mortises.
I honestly didn’t know that. Thanks. Probably not gonna change the thumbnail though. 😬
this is fantastic! I'm going next weekend and was looking for inspiration on how to display it once I get home
Awesome. I had no idea but wanted to make it unique.
Which model of the Ridgid is this? they have a couple of 10" sliders?
www.ridgid.com/us/en/15-amp-corded-10-inch-dual-bevel-sliding-miter-saw-r4241
I’m not seeing it on the Home Depot website so I posted the link to Rigids site.
What's new compared to the last model?
Is very similar in features to the rigid saw. I don’t know that anything is new but some parts may be improved.
@@CunninghamWoodWork the Ridgid I'm speaking of is the same saw as the Delta cruzer. Check that thing out. It's a sliding miter saw that uses robotic like arms instead of the standard sliding rails that stick way out back of the saw. Hear it's the smoothest sliding saw you can get
@@PDillz I had the rigid. Check out my channel for my full review 😜
Delta made the rigid saw. The robot arms are half the width on these new 4th generation models.
How’s the deflection when fully extended?
I've been doing woodworking as a hobby for the past 7 years or so, and to this day drawers keep being my worst enemy hahaha.
Drawers don’t bother me as much as drawer slides. So I don’t use them if I don’t have to. Haha
Neee to get some designer lessons from you.
ua-cam.com/users/shortstbSMPVg8cG0?si=cg1OaVCfMOSCB4lL
I really love that board it reminds me of of my little brick cheese bord
I really like all the different versions of this board. This was actually a combination of a few I had seen.
Thank you. Well done.
I don't know if I'd call this a honest review he said this saw is good for Crown molding and they do not even make Crown clamps for this saw I've had riged miter saw for years. You just gotta hold The Crown up there at the angle and do your best but it very rarely works out not a good saw for crown
Do you sale that bit?
That is truly beautiful. I have to say, if that mallet were mine I’d never, ever use it. A collectors item!! Thank you.
Nice self defense tool….gives you something to defend yourself with
There are several other creators making Moxon vuces in various forms and shapes. Each creator does a pretty darn good job except for 1 glaring issue that none of them have addressed. That issue is the method of how the entire vice/workbench is clamped down to the workbench itself. All of them use some type of clamp. While the clamps are 💯 effective, the clamps take away from the overall looks of the vice/bench. Can you think of another way to secure the vice to a workstation without using the ugly clamps, but still able to make the vice/bench removable? I was thinking of adding a horizontal vice at the bottom of the bench that would be usedto secure the Moxon to it. Or drill through holes through the front legs and insert bolts that would then go through predrilled holes in a workstation. The aft support could have holes that dowels could be inserted and then placed into holes in a workstation.
I like your thinking for sure. I wanted something quick and easy to attach to any bench in my shop so it needed to be universal. If I had a dedicated space on my nice bench I would probably integrate clamping into the main bench dog holes or something.
You might consider the tso benchdog that attaches two dogholed boards with a hex wrench
How much does your finished vice weigh?
What is it?
Small serving board or cutting board
I really wanted you to do the inside of the whole too
I was scared 😂
@@CunninghamWoodWork haha I feel you I got a new table saw today I was a little spooked
😍😍😍
I am into these saws big time. Cant afford ons yet but its high on my list when the time comes. What made you go with a 10inch instead of a 12? Sounds like spec for spec theyre very similar so id consider the 10 if going to save space and cut 99% of what id be doing either way
I generally make smaller items. Most boards I cut are only 6 inches wide at the most. I didn’t think the 12 inch was necessary and still feel that way for me
A lot of Home Depots have them for $219 right now. YMMV
@@daveclark8337 just ordered mine (10") a couple days ago at $229. Unfortunately the local HD had them in stock at $429 so I ordered one 300 miles away so I could have my father grab it for me and I'll snag it from him next time I go to visit.
@@daveclark8337 now I'm looking for the proper stand. Almost got my hands on that Bora portacube for $200 used local but someone beat me to it. I couldn't believe of all stands that one was available second hand and local. That won't happen again. Leaning towards the Ridgid stand with the wider stance and bigger wheels. On sale for $179 right now. Just wish I had a table like that Bora so I could save space when not in use
i was waiting for someone to figure out the vice might press it. :-)
Thats lovely,simple and beautifull 👍🏻😁
Thank you
👍
Everything about the choice of wood, design and finish are fantastic. The visual impact of the process is fascinating but the guitar soundtrack ruins it for me personally. I would prefer to hear the sander, saw etc.
Beautiful design and well executed, I just hope the top doesn't shrink and split. Nice job!!
