I'm here to show off what I am making every week in my home shop. I make whatever I want most of the time. I kind of specialize in making wood mallets but I also turn on the lathe and make lots of things out of wood in conjunction with other materials.
Ulcerative Colitis almost killed me - My 4 year story
This is my story of my fight with ulcerative colitis and how it almost killed me. I went through almost 4 years with no end in sight. I ended up in the ER and had emergency surgery. Never thought this would happen.

Cutting grooves on router - climb cut explanation

I am trying to describe what a climb cut is and how a lot of us accidentally do one and get into trouble. I hope my explanation helps.
How to glue up thin panels - how to woodworking
Переглядів 2,1 тис.9 місяців тому
I don’t like to use clamps on thin panels. They can bend the panel and be difficult to use. I find that blue tape works perfect. Joint the edges and lay on a flat surface and tape the joint. It’s that easy.
How to Re-saw with a weak bandsaw - woodworking
Переглядів 1,4 тис.9 місяців тому
My bandsaw has a 3/4 hp motor and is not strong enough to resaw tall material. So I use my table saw to take some material out to ease the pressure off the band saw. Easy to do and is great when you have really nice material that you want to get the most out of.

I recently geeked out and bought a Luke Skywalker lightsaber in Disney World. I wanted to mount it on the wall in my home office but didn’t see any mounts online I liked. So I came up with this simple design. Continued prayers. I came out of a C-section with my 3rd child in full blown UC. Limited on meds due to nursing and had the same awful life of 20x a day plus taking care of 3 children under 4 with a husband that traveled 4 nights a week. It was an awful time. With prayers and time I was able to go on meds that finally helped and was symptom free when that sweet baby was 15 months old. It is life altering. So glad the angles came to you in the form of a medical team that took care of things to get you on track again. So sorry you have had to go through this.
As a crohn's survivor, that has been lucky enough to have a very mild case, I feel for you, brother. I was diagnosed in high school and by the time I got to college I was 5'-10" and 115lbs. Thankfully, I've had it easy. I'm sorry for your suffering, but I'm glad things have worked out for you. Prayers for you and yours.
Love the choice of wood very nice finish. Thanks for sharing your expertise mistakes and all!!
Do you have a preference between the screws hidden in the body of the vice or have them extended outward the way you have them?
I’m not sure these are designed to go inward but I see what you’re saying. I haven’t caught my shirt or wrist on them yet so they seem to be fine.
Oh oh someone put mayo in the ketchup bottle
Really like how it turned out! Now I wanna make one.
I had a chug kick back into that dust collector and totally destroyed the plastic catch shoot along with the rubber flap
Yikes. I know there’s a guy on UA-cam that 3D prints a better one. Good time to upgrade
The proper name is "register chisel" used for finishing mortises.
I honestly didn’t know that. Thanks. Probably not gonna change the thumbnail though. 😬
this is fantastic! I'm going next weekend and was looking for inspiration on how to display it once I get home
Awesome. I had no idea but wanted to make it unique.
Which model of the Ridgid is this? they have a couple of 10" sliders?
www.ridgid.com/us/en/15-amp-corded-10-inch-dual-bevel-sliding-miter-saw-r4241
I’m not seeing it on the Home Depot website so I posted the link to Rigids site.
What's new compared to the last model?
Is very similar in features to the rigid saw. I don’t know that anything is new but some parts may be improved.
@@CunninghamWoodWork the Ridgid I'm speaking of is the same saw as the Delta cruzer. Check that thing out. It's a sliding miter saw that uses robotic like arms instead of the standard sliding rails that stick way out back of the saw. Hear it's the smoothest sliding saw you can get
@@PDillz I had the rigid. Check out my channel for my full review 😜
I've been doing woodworking as a hobby for the past 7 years or so, and to this day drawers keep being my worst enemy hahaha.
Drawers don’t bother me as much as drawer slides. So I don’t use them if I don’t have to. Haha
Neee to get some designer lessons from you.

I really love that board it reminds me of of my little brick cheese bord
I really like all the different versions of this board. This was actually a combination of a few I had seen.
Thank you. Well done.
I don't know if I'd call this a honest review he said this saw is good for Crown molding and they do not even make Crown clamps for this saw I've had riged miter saw for years. You just gotta hold The Crown up there at the angle and do your best but it very rarely works out not a good saw for crown
Do you sale that bit?
That is truly beautiful. I have to say, if that mallet were mine I’d never, ever use it. A collectors item!! Thank you.
Nice self defense tool….gives you something to defend yourself with
There are several other creators making Moxon vuces in various forms and shapes. Each creator does a pretty darn good job except for 1 glaring issue that none of them have addressed. That issue is the method of how the entire vice/workbench is clamped down to the workbench itself. All of them use some type of clamp. While the clamps are 💯 effective, the clamps take away from the overall looks of the vice/bench. Can you think of another way to secure the vice to a workstation without using the ugly clamps, but still able to make the vice/bench removable? I was thinking of adding a horizontal vice at the bottom of the bench that would be usedto secure the Moxon to it. Or drill through holes through the front legs and insert bolts that would then go through predrilled holes in a workstation. The aft support could have holes that dowels could be inserted and then placed into holes in a workstation.
I like your thinking for sure. I wanted something quick and easy to attach to any bench in my shop so it needed to be universal. If I had a dedicated space on my nice bench I would probably integrate clamping into the main bench dog holes or something.
What is it?
Small serving board or cutting board
I really wanted you to do the inside of the whole too
I was scared 😂
@@CunninghamWoodWork haha I feel you I got a new table saw today I was a little spooked
😍😍😍
I am into these saws big time. Cant afford ons yet but its high on my list when the time comes. What made you go with a 10inch instead of a 12? Sounds like spec for spec theyre very similar so id consider the 10 if going to save space and cut 99% of what id be doing either way
I generally make smaller items. Most boards I cut are only 6 inches wide at the most. I didn’t think the 12 inch was necessary and still feel that way for me
A lot of Home Depots have them for $219 right now. YMMV
@@daveclark8337 just ordered mine (10") a couple days ago at $229. Unfortunately the local HD had them in stock at $429 so I ordered one 300 miles away so I could have my father grab it for me and I'll snag it from him next time I go to visit.
@@daveclark8337 now I'm looking for the proper stand. Almost got my hands on that Bora portacube for $200 used local but someone beat me to it. I couldn't believe of all stands that one was available second hand and local. That won't happen again. Leaning towards the Ridgid stand with the wider stance and bigger wheels. On sale for $179 right now. Just wish I had a table like that Bora so I could save space when not in use
i was waiting for someone to figure out the vice might press it. :-)
Thats lovely,simple and beautifull 👍🏻😁
Thank you
👍
Everything about the choice of wood, design and finish are fantastic. The visual impact of the process is fascinating but the guitar soundtrack ruins it for me personally. I would prefer to hear the sander, saw etc.
Beautiful design and well executed, I just hope the top doesn't shrink and split. Nice job!!
This is great stuff.
What do you do with this item? Display something on it? Looks kinda nice thought. I think the music gave me diarrhea.
You can use it for meats and cheeses, bread. More of a piece to bring out for company. Also, you may have diarrhea from something else. Not sure I can help with that
@@CunninghamWoodWork ......heh heh heh, thanks for replying it made me laugh a little. You did a good job on the piece, sorry I was a smart ass. I don't mean anything by it, just my silly way of kidding with folks. You were right tho, I had consumed way too much prune juice. 😳
Next time, use a piece of scrap wood place on the stud be for betting with your mallett! I'm sure I saw some damage on your mallet with the stunt! More dumbing down, showing the world more American woodworking techniques on "how not to use a wooden mallett!" I'm sure they are shaking thier head of laughing at the stupidity like I did!😢😂😢😂
That mallet is kind of my beater mallet. Funny enough, it finally broke this week. Nothing a little glue won’t fix.
That wood is very nice looking, but I never liked the moxon vice because of the two studs sticking out where your work! The handle should be pinned to the screw similar to a regular vice. Also, a moxon vise is just anotherfixturing device and has its pros and cons!!
Your going to simplify things? You have a shop full of expensive heavy duty machinery. Do you remember hand tools?
Hand tools are way harder than this. Trust me. And I went simpler than Mike Coffey. And my machinery wasn’t expensive. A sawstop is only a hair over $4,000.
Wrong table to show the final result, great service tray!!!
Is the any added risk of doing the second cut from left to right instead of the right to left motion? Then you are moving against the direction of spin and don’t have to move the fence.
I believe that would work but with the router table I always work right to left. I’d feel like my pants were on backwards if I cut the other direction 😂😂
Great explanation! Now if only you could’ve made this video before my boneheaded move 🙄😝 appreciate it bud 🤙🏼
Wish I would’ve known this when I started too. Thanks man!
Hey Chris, it's great to see you posting WWing content again. really enjoyed watching this video and will be using the technique when I am building jewelry boxes. Hope you have been well!
Thanks for the support. Glad to be posting videos again. Short tips for now. Full builds coming soon.
Nice job!
Thanks!
Hello. What tree is it made from?
Zebra wood for the main plank and wenge for the feet
You could bungee cord the shop vac hose to the ceiling to reduce the pull on the hose.
I thought the same thing but didn’t have one in my garage. Definitely a good idea.
Looking pretty slick, Chris
Thanks Justin!
What was the glue and why did you apply it so high?
I used urethane glue since it won’t swell the joint. I used a little too much not realizing how little I needed. Better to wipe off excess than to starve the joint of glue.
- Beautiful piece of work ! ! ! Thanx 4 sharing.
I will send you any walnut i may or maynot have. Rare to get some.
Chisel, trying to pick out some logs for your Craigslist order from us. Red maple 🍁, red oak, ? Oh,,, started maple..
Chris not chisel 😂
Spalted
Mater hit that lens immediately 😅😂
Oh it was an egg 😂
Can this do a 4x4?
Yes i have one
how you get it out
Very carefully tap the sides with a mallet while upside down. Then sand so it can be a useable lid.
