This turned out great! I always wondered if putting brass through a router bit would be ok, so I nervously watched as you did it first instead of me. Also loved your technique for cutting the thin wedges, great tip.
I enjoyed your process of making this mallet. I really like the look of the brass and walnut. Was wondering if you considered using brass as the wedges as well?
Thank you. Glad you liked it. I have considered using brass as the wedges. So much so that on my Instagram you can see the latest photo where o used them 😂. Great minds right!
@@CunninghamWoodWork its a gorgeous piece, just seemed to big and not enough mass for what a brass mallet would normally be used. How does it perform? would you use one, say if you angled faces, or even a copy of this one for any tasks? im curious, and apologize if my original comment seemed snarky, it wasnt meant to.
@@justinsane332 I didn’t think you were being snarky. I’ve heard it performs well. I haven’t used it actually. It is pretty heavy so for normal mallet tasks it may be overkill. For punches it’s pretty effortless I’ve heard.
The hammer turned out nice, but the background music sucks in this video too...really!
I couldn’t agree more.
Looove the brass!
Beautiful mallet! Now I'm interested in other metal combos on mallets. The possibilities are endless!
They really are. Maybe steel and a claw with a leather wrapped handle. Don’t tell Estwing 😂😂
That is truly beautiful. I have to say, if that mallet were mine I’d never, ever use it. A collectors item!! Thank you.
A work of art!
LOVE IT!!!!!!

It’s a little nerve wracking but it went smooth. I’ve been cutting wedges like that for a while. It’s the safest way I’ve found.
Looks awesome man! I love the walnut/brass combo - the colors work really well together. :)

so why did you make it?
I have a friend who makes leather aprons. He uses them for hitting punches.
